Nora Roberts is, of course, a legend, so when I got an opportunity to read her latest standalone novel early, I was thrilled. They are definitely my favorites of her many amazing works, and this was no exception. What we have here is a romance that is also a thriller...but for a long time in the middle, you kind of get to almost set the thriller part of it aside and enjoy a sweet, sweet love story. These characters, and there are many, are so well-developed and real that you want to become part of their crew. And then the action of the thriller part of the story moves toward its peak, and if you're anything like me, you'll spend the last 10% of the book leaning forward in your seat, reading as fast as you can, desperate to find out what happens in the end. I felt some feels with this one too. If you are an NR fan, this book is not to be missed.

Forever amazing Nora continues your gift of storytelling in Legacy. We once again experience characters that grow so much while weaving the tides of life from young adults to the present day. When they do find each other we watch as their romance blooms in spades but not without a killer twist. So many feelings and emotions, so much friendship and family Nora has truly created another story for us to get lost in and enjoy..

Adrian is a well known health influencer who got started as a baby with her mother's company; Yoga Baby. When Adrain is 17 and launches her first solo project she starts receiving threatening poems every year. When she suffers a family loss, Adrian moves back to her home town and decides to move her base of operation to her grandparents home. Adrian survived a traumatic event when she is 7 years old and surrounds herself with people who will deal anything to help her. So when her stalker seems to start escalating, she has an entire town who is there to help her find out who the stalker is. This was a very fun and often times heartbreaking book to read. I can't say how many times I cried while reading it. The friendships in this book are amazing as well as the family connections Adrian has. And the main love interest is so swoony and sweet! He has moved up to one of my favorite book boyfriends! There are many trigger warnings in this one, so I would recommend looking into these if you think you might need them. I can say abuse, murder, school shootings but there might be others as well. Thank you St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for my gifted review copy.

Nora Roberts is one of my favorite romance authors to read. I was first introduced to her work when I was in middle school, and the library had one of her books in stock (I don’t remember which one, that was thirty years ago). When my oldest daughter was born fifteen years ago, I stopped reading and didn’t pick up a book until she was four and my son was two. But, it took me until mid-March to pick up a Nora Roberts book. I am glad I did. I enjoyed reading Legacy!!

Legacy is a medium-paced book. The book’s pacing was medium-paced, but it ramped up quickly during the last few chapters of the book. There was some lag in the book’s middle (when Adrian and Raylan’s storyline came together), but it didn’t last for long.

There were two main points of view, with a third point of view added later in the book. I am not a big fan when an unexpected POV is added late in the book. But, in this case, considering who the POV belonged to, it made perfect sense.

I adored Adrian in Legacy. She was one of the more grounded characters that I have read in awhile. But, I did find it hard to connect to her during certain scenes. But overall, I read her scenes with a smile.

I liked and sympathized with Raylan’s character. His loss was one of the saddest that I have read. I liked that the author showed a realistic view of someone’s grieving process. I thought that he was a great father also. Plus, I like his dog…lol.

Speaking of the dogs in Legacy, they were fantastic. Sadie and Jasper made the book whenever they appeared. Sadie proved herself to be the true MVP at the end of the book (Jasper too).

I loved Raylan’s children, but I did think that they talked a little too grownup for a six and eight-year-old. I have a seven-year-old, and she doesn’t have the vocabulary that Mo did. But, that aside, they were adorable.

I was surprised at who The Poet was. For some reason, I thought it was going to someone else (the PI had mentioned another person).

The author built up the romance angle of the book slowly. Of course, I knew that Raylan and Adrian were going to get together. It was just a matter of when/where. When they did end up getting together, there was a feeling of “Finally.” I liked that the author had them dating before the events that led up to the end of the book. It made the ending so much better!!

The thriller/suspense angle of the book kept me on edge. I liked the mini-chapters where The Poet was featured. I got a better understanding of how this person was spiraling. When that person started escalating, I couldn’t read the book fast enough. I needed to see how this book played out with Adrian. And once the author revealed the connection to her, I was even more eager. Of course, there was poetic justice with how those scenes played out too!!

The end of Legacy was good. The author was able to wrap up the storylines in a way that satisfied me as a reader. There were no storylines left open/hanging. There were no questions about specific events that happened in the book.

Legacy was a great romantic suspense novel. The plotline was great and the characters made the book. Plus, I didn’t figure out who The Poet was until the reveal which surprised me.

I would recommend Legacy to everyone over the age of 21. There is sex, but it is not graphic. There is somewhat graphic violence. At the beginning of the book, Adrian’s father attacked Adrian, her mother, and her mother’s best friend/nanny.

I am a big fan of Nora Roberts but I did not enjoy this new novel. It started really well but after about 20% into the story it fell flat and predictable. I did not love any of the characters except the grandfather and the dogs. :(

I really enjoyed this book! This book was a typical great read by Nora Roberts. While I have not read all of her books, I have read a few to know that I’ll always be in for a good and suspenseful read. This book resonated even more with me because I’m a yoga instructor and I enjoyed the imagery and descriptions. I would recommend this book to friends and family who want a twisty read that keeps you guessing.

The story was really good. Adrian was smart beyond her years at seven years old. I really loved her character and seeing her grow into a confident woman. The slow burn romance is second to the life happenings for Adrian. This book has it all... death, friendship, suspense and love.

I’ve read a lot of this author’s books, so I was excited to be able to read an early copy of this one.
The story was good and it kept my interest for the most part. I did think it was a bit too long and just dragged along at times.

This was overall a nice surprise from the normal Nora Roberts books I have read. It was a thriller! I really liked all the family dimensions she explored in the book. We have the small town feel and how that works for some of the characters and they felt the love and neighborliness of it and how it stifled others into leaving. I also enjoyed how Roberts shows that “love always makes room.” The main character move through their grief and learn to love again and love each other. I enjoyed the thriller and actually wish we would have focused less on her career and more on the psycho stalking her and others! One thing that did throw me some was the multiple POVs. At one point we even get the point of view from the dog, there were just too many.

Overall an enjoyable read! I won an advanced copy of this novel from Nora Robert’s Facebook page and want to thank you Netgalley who supplied it.

A completely absorbing story of ambition, mistakes, murder and love. Very difficult to put down this tale of friends and family touches on all our modern complications and horrors. I loved all the twists and turns. Cried over a few pages and fell in love right along with the heroine. Perfect for me. I think you will love it too.

A slow build story that drips the clues and the menacing message to come.

This book is a beautiful blend of several different genres. For one it is a family saga of sorts. A beautifully crafted story of a family thrown into the limelight.

It’s a story of lightness and darkness. It’s a story of choices and finding your place in the world. It’s also a story of commitment and the love of family; the support of family and friendship that spans decades.

But underneath all of that is a story of bitterness and hate. An ugliness that follows Adrian along for years and years. It’s also the story of jealousy and simmering rage that builds throughout the story.

For me it wasn’t too far of a reach to figure out who it was behind the ugliness. However, the delivery and the crescendo of this mystery went beyond the pale and still managed to have me chewing my nails, refusing to stop reading regardless of how late it got.

Roberts has the unique talent to deliver a story that envelops you into the lives of her characters. This slow burn novel is not a heart pounding thriller but a continual drip of menacing doubt that trickles into her character’s life and eats away for years. The mind bending twists that makes the back of your neck tickle…

That is the type of writing that Roberts is known for and delivers in Legacy. She also tempers it with a touch of budding romance for a well rounded novel that leaves you satisfied with a smile on your face. A complex read so be prepared to hunker down for a bit while devouring this one!

I have been reading Nora Roberts for years and she never ceases to amaze me with her writing. I can not recommend this book more!

I enjoyed this book. I have read several of Nora's over the years, and found this one to be a nice change of pace. I enjoyed the main character and her journey from the tragedy in her childhood to running her own business. The romance was good and I also really enjoyed the dogs. I will be recommending this book to friends.

The author has crafted another terrific story filled with suspense, second chances, drama, and of course romance. There is everything in this story that I know many will love. The characters have an emotional depth to them and you will feel many emotions as you experience each of their journeys. I truly enjoyed this story and will be recommending this to family and friends.

This book was okay. It definitely sticks with the formula of every other romantic suspense book out there. It did drive me just a tiny smidgen crazy that the story was one chapter, skip ahead 6 years, one chapter, skip ahead 2 years, one chapter, skip ahead 4 years, 5 years, etc. The book spanned 20 years, with the bulk of it taking place over almost 15 years with generally no time card to keep track other than "oh yeah, and now *character* is pregnant. And now *character* has a 6 year old". It is also kind of hard to relate to the characters when everyone is filthy rich, insanely gorgeous, married to an equally gorgeous, virile, fertile, respected, accomplished, and can buy houses like loaves of bread. VERY realistic. And the deaths... good thing I was not fully connected to this book emotionally or I would have been devastated when characters were dropping like a extra on Game of Thrones. Overall, I read it, it was interesting enough, but I probably will not be recommending a "just okay" book to my friends in the near future when I have plenty of AMAZING books to choose from.

I love Nora Roberts! This was a good read, full of all the things I love about her books. Mystery, romance, friendships that are formed, and most of, family. This book was one of those ones that you can’t put down, even after you’ve finished.

This is my first ever Nora Roberts book. I was drawn in by the cover and premise. Of course being an active reader, I have heard of her but the author that got me into reading was Mary Higgins Clark. Both writers blend mystery, suspense, murder/serial killers/villains, and romance well. The story was intriguing but the main conflict resolved too soon leaving the reader wanting more. Story ended when killer apprehended. Underwhelmed. The ending could have been better but the rest f the story was good.

Recommended.

I have not read Nora Roberts in years. I used to devour her books but over time, I got bored with the sameness that comes with releasing multiple books a year. I wanted to see if my interest would be renewed with this book. The blurb seemed interesting. Unfortunately, it was not. Mostly because the description did not match the actual book. I was promised romantic suspense and got neither. The romance was non existent. In fact the the couple barely had any interaction and no chemistry. They got together too fast and without any real development. I was genuinely surprised when it happened because there had been no build up. The same could be said for the suspense portion. It was kept on the back burner for 87% of the book, trotted out them sent back to the ether. There was no dread and no real build up with the story thread either. It also ended abruptly with little closure.

If you want to read a story about a woman with a distant mother who wants to prove herself then this books is for you. There is nothing wrong with general fiction which is what this book is but romantic suspense it was not. What a strange and disappointing book.

This was my first Nora Roberts' book. It won't be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Adrian, Lina, Raylan, and all the others.

Legacy is a cross between a suspense/murder thriller and a romance. We follow the life of Adrian, daughter of Lina, from age seven to approximately age 30. We meet her friends, watch her create her own company, and wish we had her determination when it comes to fitness. The pacing is excellent as the story moves through a couple of decades, slowing to highlight certain events but not dragging. The sweet spot is about halfway through when her dog and Raylan's dog fall in love. It is pure gold.

This would have been a five-star read for me, but it loses a star for some of the agenda items stuffed in that bear no importance to the story.

This is not family friendly due to sex, violence, and a bit of profanity. It is a fun read with great characters.
