Another great read from Nora Robert’s. Legacy spans the life of Adrian Rizzo and the different events that lead her into making different choices. There is suspense, romance, dogs and fully fleshed out characters. I thoroughly enjoyed Legacy. It is a classic Nora Robert’s stand-alone that is worth the read.

Light Spoilers ahead!

The first chapter and inciting incident made me really excited for the story as a whole, but was disappointed that the same urgency in the first chapter trailed off. This is the first book in a while that I’ve actively decided to not finish. It took too long to get into the story and it was difficult to really grasp Raylen and Adrian’s relationship. Normally Nora Robert’s relationships are so well crafted. There is one incident in the first 100 pages that was clearly a way to give Raylen more depth than he otherwise would have and to give the leads a chance together. It was difficult to get past. It also took way too long for them to interact and begin to form a relationship (nearly halfway through the book). The most interesting parts were of the little glimpses of the murderer, but it wasn’t enough to keep me invested.

I’m sure that many others will be fans of this book, but I couldn’t help comparing it to The Obsession and found it deeply lacking.

This is the first book I have ever read by Nora Roberts and I was utterly gripped from the first page. The consistent tension throughout and the disturbing psychological overtones were not easy. I wanted to get through the book to avoid the deep emotional stress. The relationships in 'Legacy' were absolutely touching and helped counterbalance the stress. Ultimately this book was a story about the power of love and it will not soon leave me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is such a difficult review to write. For one reason, you may have noticed that I didn't shelve the book. That's because while the description leads us to believe this is another of her fabulous romantic suspense, it's difficult to actually call it that.

This is more a life-in-real-time book. We start when the heroine is 8 and just go from there, sometimes jumping months, sometimes years, sometimes an unclear amount of time that we have to adjust for.

If you liked Shelter in Place, it's a bit like that but even a slower build/read.

It looks like this may be Ms. Roberts' new style for her contemp RS. It will be up to each read if this is a style they enjoy.

This is probably for people who like the feel of long-burn family sagas, but focused on one person for the most part over a standalone.

Thank you to Netgalley & St Martin for the opportunity to read in advance.

One of the things I like about reviewing books, is reading some by my favorite author. I don't remember the very first book I have read by Nora Roberts. I do know that I have enjoyed majority of them, especially this one. In this one it's similar to her in death books, but she talks about family legacies. The ending was better than I expected. I really enjoyed Adrian and how she was doing fitness videos and trying to get others to join her. I am so glad I got this from netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

This was really good! Solid story with lots of great characters. The mystery plot was interesting and chilling. Not a fast-paced story but a bit of a slow build told over years kind of book.

Any Nora Roberts fan will love this book. It has a little bit of everything (keep the tissues handy). What a great story about family and friends (and dogs) that you can count on. Add in a little suspense.... I enjoyed this book very much. I would have liked a short epilogue at the end. I won't give away any spoilers, but when others read it, I think they will know what I mean.

Adrian Rizzo has received many legacies. The legacy of comfort and love from her grandparents, the legacy of hard work and success from her mother, and the legacy of violence from her father. Adrian meets her father for the first and last time when she is 7 years old and he almost kills her, but a summer spent in the country with her grandparents helps her to heal from the trauma. Her mother spends the summer touring and promoting her health & fitness brand, determined to drive her business to the next level. Years pass, and as a teenager Adrian is inspired to create her own line of fitness videos and begins to build her own brand. But then, threatening poems begin to arrive every year. For years, they are dismissed as just part of her growing fame, but they keep coming year after year. Things start to tune as Adrian moves back to Maryland to her grandparents.

I really loved this, you really got to know all of the characters and the suspense was great. Anyone who likes really developed characters and romantic suspense will enjoy this.

The story of a young girl, coming of age, and falling in love. It’s the journey that is so much fun. Adrian Rizzo’s mother, Lina, is a fitness expert who travels the county and sells her fitness brand. Adrian is even in some of the videos and loves dancing and the fitness routines. Everything changes when she is seven; her birth father, who she never knew, shows up at the house in a drunken fit of rage, physically assaults everyone in the house and tries to kill Adrian. In a struggle with Lina, he falls to his death. In the aftermath Adrian goes to spend the summer living with her grandparents in a small town in Maryland.

The suspense begins when she is a young adult and someone sends her a threatening poem. Things slowly escalate and Adrian will need to prepare herself for whoever is eventually going to come for her.
I really enjoyed how sixteen-year-old Adrian plotted to live on her own for a few weeks while her mother traveled while also researching who she wants to be friends with in her new high school. Adrian is smart, disciplined, and full of ideas for her own fitness video. This is also where I see how once she claims you as a friend, you are in for life and she will nudge you to be more active and eat healthier foods. And the dogs in this story are so funny, like icing on the cake.

I received and ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press and this is my honest review.

I love Nora Roberts, that's no secret. Other reviews have already mentioned that if you've read one of Nora's standalone romantic suspense novels, you've read them all, and that's true, but for me, that's part of the beauty of her work! I like knowing exactly what I'm going to get (for the most part). It's always a good story with a solid background and a happy ending, and sometimes that's just what you need!

Hiding the remainder of my comments because they are SPOILERS, do not read if you don't want to be totally spoiled!

Okay so obviously, the second Raylan sees Adrian as a child, we know they're going to end up together. When Raylan is then in NYC with his future wife and sees Adrian, I was like... well shoot. Now what? Obviously something because we know something has to happen for Raylan and Adrian to get together but ouchies.

So many deaths close together felt extra sad!

The ensemble of characters here felt very Eve Dallas + co., and I mean that in the best way.

I didn't care for the development of the relationship between Adrian and Lina, though I understood why it was happening.

Overall - another Nora book that I loved!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 stars

Nora Roberts never lets me down with her romantic suspense stories. I look forward to reading them each year and attempt to slowly enjoy them, however, they are impossible to put down. Her newest, Legacy, is another great addition to her forever long list of books, featuring excellent characters, a sweet romance, and HOME. RENOVATIONS.

Legacy tells the story of Adrian Rizzo, the daughter of a fitness guru and a rising star herself in the fitness world. When Adrian was 7 years old, her biological father attacked her and nearly killed her before she was saved by her mom. The story follows Adrian from childhood to adulthood as she struggles to understand her ambitious mother, makes a career of her own, and, eventually, falls in love. All while dealing with a creepy stalker who sends her ominous poems every year. Of course, it is a Nora book, so there are also dogs...and HOME RENOVATIONS.

Legacy is lighter on the mystery and romance than a typical Nora book, with more attention paid to developing the family relationships. I loved this just as much because each character is interesting and multi-faceted. The love interest, Rylan, is adorable and creates comic books (and has two sweet kids). I found Adrian and her mom, Lina’s, relationship to be my favorite storyline, as they are both very similar and very different. Lina is a complicated character and is not the most maternal, so I enjoyed reading how their relationship changes over time.

Overall, Legacy is another solid mystery from the queen Nora Roberts and is full of charming characters, creepy mysteries, and lovable dogs.

I'm always in awe when an author can get me so wrapped up in a character's life that I forget they're fiction.

I finished this gem of a story a few days ago and I've found myself constantly thinking about them. They're next steps in life, if they would like to go to this event, what their plans are. Then I remember it was just a book and I already finished reading it.

I love how Roberts builds the story throughout the character's lives and shows you what has happened to make them who they are today.

My only disappointment with this book was that as soon as the villain was defeated the book ended. I wish there was more to what happened afterward, how their lives changed or settled. Basically, I just didn't want it to end.

Legacy begins with a tense, well written climax that would be a great ending in any book, but here is only the beginning. Roberts has her book formulas down pat which is not a bad thing since she does it so well. 7 year old Adrian and her mother workout guru, Lina, are attacked by Adrian’s father she’s just seeing for the first time.
As Adrian grows the book adopts a slower pace until near the end. Adrian decides to make her living with fitness as well, and the people, family and friends, she’s become close to while growing up are still an integral part of her life. She’s made a wonderful life for herself except for the yearly stalker letters she receives once a year, until they too escalate.
As I said, it’s predictable whom Adrian falls in love with, and what happens in the story, but it never takes away from the over all plot because Roberts writing with her strong women characters, their friendships and loyalties, is always done well.

I really loved this book. Adrian was a great heroine. She was strong, independent, and smart. I also really loved Raylan. This book took a circuitous route to get to the romance and I really loved that. The mystery, the setting, the whole ensemble were perfect.

I have probably always been a fan of Nora Roberts. Not just as herself, but also her JD Robb alter ego. The books she writes, the words just leap off the page and entwine you in the story until you become a part of it and this book was no different. I loved how time passed, from Adrian as a young child being attacked by a father she’d never met, to a teenager in high school, going against her moms wishes and staying home to go to school (what teenager does that?!?) and hooking up with the nerd squad and ending up as lifelong friends with them. Then we have Adrian the successful businesswoman, who takes after her mom in some respects but who is also clearly her own woman, and who manages to fall in love with the perfect man.
From start to finish this was a fantastic read and there is nothing better than a Nora Roberts tearjerker when I want a good book to read. This is another book that I will read more than once, and will file it along with my other favorites (especially her older trilogies like the The Three Sisters Island and The Key series). Definitely a must read, this one is a true page turner!

The Legacy by Nora Roberts is one of those books that you wish would never end. If you are a long time reader of Nora Roberts you will recognize her love and respect for friendships, families and communities. All intertwined in to one of her best stories yet.

Lina and Adrian Rizzo, A mother and daughter, who are more alike then they realize. Both ambitious, headstrong and extremely goal oriented., Separately, and together, building a health and nutrition empire.

With just enough murder, and mystery to keep me on the edge of my seat. You will not be disappointed. I guarantee it!

Sit back, Read and Enjoy!

When I see a Nora Roberts title on the shelf at a bookstore, without any hesitation, I know I'll enjoy the book. Legacy was no different.
In true Roberts fashion, this story provided a rollercoaster of emotions and really tugged at my heartstrings! Whew.

Legacy is divided into three parts. One being Adrian's backstory and her growing up, which moved pretty quickly. Parts two and three provide more depth into Adrian's story as an adult and it felt like the pacing was a bit slower once the story settled into adult Adrian. There's even a look into the eyes of the crazed killer! Definitely some suspense and thrill from this story and just enough romance to keep the warm and fuzzy feelings Roberts is so good at providing!

Nora Roberts is by no means a novice. She has written amazing stories and all very good.

This book, Legacy is no exception. It is very well written with well-crafted characters and a believable storyline.

she weaves a story that captivates. Job well done!

This was the first Nora Roberts book I have ever read, but definitely not the last!

I'm not going to give a synopsis of the story. I will leave that to others. What I will say is the characters were well written and relatable. I enjoyed the friendships that endured through the years.

There was a little mystery and a little romance so this book will appeal to readers of either genre. I highly recommend this book.

I have always been an avid Nora Roberts fan. As always, her stories are well thought out with complex characters and great plot twists. While I enjoyed reading this story, the first chapter was action packed and then the story slowed way down, dragging here and there. All in all, it was a good read.
