Another wonderful romantic suspense novel. I enjoyed the multiple POVs and strong relationships with both Adrian and her friends and with her grandparents.

*** spoiler in review! ****
Nora Roberts is a big named author and I was looking forward to reading my first book from her. Unfortunately this book was a disappointment for me. The story dragged and I was bored for most of it. I found the lead character pushy and basically ordered around all her friends. I felt the first 3/4 of the book was setting up the romance which fell flat to me. No chemistry between Adrian and Raylan. I felt there was more sexual tension between the 2 dogs, Jasper and Sadie. The last 1/4 of the book was a rush job on the suspense/thriller.

<spoiler> What was the whole point of the youth center story? Did it even complete? And who in their right mind lets a 94 yr old spend a million dollars for a project that will take over a year to complete? Even I knew he was going to drop dead before it was completed.</spoiler>

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Nora Roberts for a copy of "Legacy" in exchange of an honest review.

It has been a while since I’ve read a Nora Roberts romance/suspense book. The story started off strong , got a little lost in the middle and then came back to a good ending. I think the book went on a little too long to become fully enthralled in the story which made the book lake in suspense. I still enjoyed the book and would rate it 3.5 stars.

Nora Roberts immerses the reader in a compulsive romantic thriller in Legacy. Adrian Rizzo and her mother Lina were attacked by her father in a murderous rage when she was six; he died in the assault. Adrian and Lina establish careers in yoga exercise videos, but pursue separate lives. Adrian starts getting threatening letters from an unknown source. Who is it? Is she being targeted for murder? Adrian is also developing healthy relationships and wants to find the source of the threat. An investigator finds more dead women. Read and follow the thread of this compelling story about a very attractive heroine.

Adrian Rizzo rose from her traumatic childhood and became a success. After her biological father tried to kill her and her mother she was left with her grandparents for a short time while her mother worked things out. Adrian grew to cherish those times with her grandparents .
Following in her mother, Lina’s footsteps she created her own empire while never losing track of what was important. Even while creating her own fitness business she found time to return to be there for her grandfather when he needed her the most .
Raylan was Adrian’s best friends brother growing up and over the years they stayed in touch and grew closer after the loss of his wife and her grandfather.
Nora Robert’s did a wonderful job as usual . Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC for my honest opinion.

A tale of Adrian covering a period of more than 20 years. As a 16 year old, Adrian begins her own compnay called New Generations--exercise dvds`-- under the company owned by her mom. This was launched in the New Year when she received her first poem that was a death threat. These threats continue for years until it all builds up to a climax.
Nora Roberts has a vivid imagination and researches her topic. Her characters are interesting and believable. Definitely read this one of family, friends, and suspense....all areas that NR has expertise in.

I love Nora Roberts but I wish she would move away from women being terrorized. It's become tired, and Roberts is talented enough to create other stories. I also had a hard time connecting with this exercise empire storyline. Overall, this book felt dated.

Legacy by Nora Roberts is classic romantic suspense by the famous author. Fans of this author will adore how quickly she sets the stage for this story, introducing you to characters and their crazy world. I was quickly drawn in and could not stop reading. I found the middle part of the book to be a bit slower and less plot driven. But the end was well worth the perseverance. Ms Roberts’ ability to see into the minds of her villains is chilling. Readers of this genre will love this book. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I haven’t read a Nora Roberts book in forever… This book caught my eye. It was an interesting story. I did get caught up in it and wanted to know who was behind it all. No spoilers here!

What can we say? Nora does it again, and frankly after the last year we've had, books like this are what so many of us need. Solid story. Great mystery. The KNOWN happy ending where the fun, the heart is getting there. Thank you Mrs Roberts, we needed this.

Sometimes you want to sink into a book where you know what to expect and for me, Nora Roberts romantic suspense stand-alone novels fall in that category. I don’t know the details but I know the overall feelings to expect and I’m here for it.

In Legacy, we have Adrian who has a fitness business - starting with her first workout videos while she was still in high school. And ever since those first videos she’s been getting threatening letters once a year in the form of poems.

After her grandmother’s death, she moves in with her grandfather and reconnects with friends in their town - including Raylan, her childhood best friend’s older brother. As Adrian settles into her new life, the letters start to come more frequently - perhaps this threat is more than she originally thought.

I didn’t always like Adrian - there are parts of her character that I found really annoying. But that also made her more real to me - she’s not a perfect person but who is? I liked seeing the ways she grew and changed through the book with her family and found family and Raylan.

Thank you to St Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the advance reading copy. I also got the audiobook from the library and highly recommend - the narration was great and kept me riveted to see what would happen next.

Legacy is everything I want in a Nora Roberts novel. I especially loved the theme of family (and there are several in this book). The combination of romance, a mystery and a satisfying ending added up to a solid read. I enjoyed it!

What can be said about Nora Roberts that has not already been said? She's in her element with the family drama and suspense building. I enjoyed seeing a young and strong female character and the story overall did not disappoint. My patrons have a waiting list!

This is probably the first Nora Roberts book I've read that really didn't do it for me. I liked the characters, Adrian the fitness expert who makes videos and inspires/helps others (although she's a bit pushy at times), Raylan, the single dad trying to figure out what the heck he's doing and how to be a good father and full time graphic novelist. Sadie and Jasper the adorable dogs. I enjoyed the feel of the town of Traveller's Creek. In small doses I enjoyed Adrian's fitness videos as it reminded me to keep trying to get fit myself. There are more than the average number of tragedies in this book- spoiler alert- Roberts puts her characters through some serious traumas in this one and I surprised myself by crying at at least one of them. But these aren't gratuitous, they both develop the main characters and move the plot in big ways.

But there were things I didn't enjoy that outweighed the good, for me. The first being that the book dragged in a lot of places. There was so much more than we needed weighing it down. Tons of backstory and side stories that previous books have shown Roberts could have condensed and still hit her mark. The writing style is more what I associate with her In Death series (which I love) but the more terse or telegraphic style didn't work for me here. There wasn't really much suspense in this book- you can guess from the beginning who the bad guy is and while that develops really nicely in about the last 15% of the book, there's not much before that. Ditto on the romance. It just sort of happened. This was more a story of self-discovery, personal growth, and family. Which was fine, and nothing wrong with that as a book- I just hadn't been expecting that from the descriptions and build up.
The last 15-20% of the book definitely flew by- I just wish the rest of it could have been that enjoyable and fast paced.

While I was hesitant at first to try this one (seemed more romance than suspense) I'm so glad I went ahead and got it. Worth the read.

Meh...If this is the first Nora book you've read, then it might be wonderful. Unfortunately for me, I've read most of her books, so it was just okay for me. Highly typical of her writing plot style and totally predictable. I find the language mundane at this point. Not everyone says the same phrases and has the same thought processes, but they do in every one of her books. I still love Nora, and she will forever be my guilty pleasure author: easy and enjoyable.

I just reviewed Legacy by Nora Roberts. #NetGalley

I was so happy to receive this copy of Legacy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I've read a few Nora Robert's books, but it's been a while and this one was as good as I remember them to be. It was a long one but bc of that there was excellent character development and a very well executed plot that kept you engaged from beginning to end. I loved everything about this book, especially Adrian and Raylan. I highly recommend this one!

3.5★s
Legacy is a novel by best-selling American author, Nora Roberts. Adrian Rizzo has grown up fatherless: for her first seven years, her father was unaware he had a daughter; when, at seven, her relationship to him was leaked to the press, he died during a violent assault on her mother, after he had attacked Adrian.

But Adrian has never felt the lack of him: her mother may be busy building a career and business, but she has always had her nanny, Mimi, and loving grandparents, Dom and Sophia. If her relationship with her mother is a bit cool and unconventional, it has made her independent enough to make her own fitness DVD before she has even turned seventeen. And the private school nerds who were there for the start-up of her business are still her friends.

But ever since her first successful exercise DVD, there have been death threats, poems that always arrive in February. Her famous mother tells her it’s the price of being a public figure, but Adrian remains uncomfortable with the annual Ugly Valentines, even moreso when the threat is directed at her grandmother after Sophia joins her for a live-streamed exercise session.

Two sudden tragic deaths see a radical change in Adrian’s situation, putting within her radar the now-nicely-grown-up green-eyed boy on whom she had a tiny crush when she was seven. Raylan Wells is the older brother of her best friend Maya, now returned to her grandparents’ home town in Maryland, the location of her idyllic childhood summer vacation.

Raylan is a successful graphic novelist, a widower with two young children. When he spots tall lithe Adrian in her running gear, he’s immediately inspired to create a new character. And then Raylan’s dog falls in love with Adrian’s.

While it throws a line to comic book fans, this novel is clearly aimed at fitness enthusiasts: there are so many descriptions of exercise routines they will have the eyes of the average reader glazing over.

The blurb seems to be somewhat misleading: the reader will probably expect a novel of romantic intrigue, but this is mostly the story of a woman making a career, a life, with family and friends; the romance element, when it finally appears about two-thirds in, is rather perfunctory; fans of this author’s romance novels will find it disappointing.

Until the last quarter, the intrigue aspect seems more like an aside than a major part of the story; the reader’s first guess about the poet is probably the right one. The background Roberts lays for the story is syrupy sweet and Hollywood happy, but lengthier than necessary. Good detective action in the final 15% gains it an extra half star. Perhaps a novel trying to be too many things at once, this is not Roberts best work.

I normally love Nora Roberts but this one feel a little flat for me. I didn’t enjoy the fitness storyline as it felt a bit fat shaming and inauthentic. The also didn’t really pick up on chemistry between chemistry between the leads.
