For years, I’ve tried to figure out what the heck is going on with my body. I’ve tried nearly everything and spent countless dollars with medical doctors, natural paths – I’ve even had surgery! All in an effort to figure out why my energy levels are so low.

I won’t say this book introduced any new groundbreaking information, but I didn’t know much about Intermittent Fasting (IF) and I was curious. I think I want to give her WTF plan a try (laid out in the book), and I’m going to focus on following the guidelines of an anti-inflammation diet. This book gave me the confidence to give it a try!

I didn't think I needed this book, but it was excellent - a doctor & friend's guide to a better lifestyle.

After reading the introduction, I was immediately pulled in - doctor Amy Shah writes with such a funny and raw voice that it doesn't really feel like you're just reading a doctor's advice, but also a good friend's. Throughout the book, I definitely had a feeling that she 'gets' it, and this is so important when it comes to learning something that would stick with you. She also includes very personal anecdotes, such as her dad's growing up in Western India, which makes it even more fun and friendly.

Even though I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to learning about nutrition, I'm not so good with implementing what I learn. Even though I already knew a lot of what Amy is whiting about (only as far as nutrition is concerned), I felt it was very helpful in convincing me to actually do what I know is right for my body.

Most important thing - Amy doesn't advocate for any kind of diet, but a whole, plant-based nutrition with plenty of exercise and healthy lifestyle. She is very understanding of people choosing to eat meat, but prompts you to choose it wisely, and really think about it due to the hormones it contains. You will learn so much about hormones from this book that you won't be able to keep it to yourself.

Ultimately, I think it' a very useful book, especially for readers who haven't studied the science of hormones and nutrition. I personally would have liked more depth and detail, especially when it comes to scientific evidence. The information included in this book is not really new, but Amy Shah puts everything together brilliantly - and there's a lot of value in her work.

An interesting subject matter for sure. Didn't realize how much gut health affected so much of our other systems. Would love to get a physical copy to keep on hand to reference.

It was a really good book that opened up some questions for me to look into. Definitely one to read if you are a woman that has been getting the run around from the medical community.

I have lived with Type 1 Diabetes for over 30 years, so I have read just about every book about health under the sun. Or at least try to. This one was fantastic. I honestly thought it would be the same ol same ol for me, but this doctor's writing makes even information I might have known new and interesting. However, it’s great for anyone who has no knowledge of nutrition as well as those who have some. She also talks about intermittent fasting, a hot topic, and shares her own ways for circadian fasting, as well as a nutrition plan and recipes for healthy, plant-based eating. She talks about gut health, a great reminder of how important that is to keep our energy levels up. She also briefly touches upon mental health and the energy tolls negative metal energy can wreak. A definite keeper for me, and a book I highly recommend for anyone who wants to feel better, increase their energy, and expand their knowledge about health.

Who isn’t tired now a days. This book didn’t just complain about it though. It gave step by step instructions on how to combat the fatigue and go about being refreshed in life. I have had a lot of questions about hormone imbalances and this book really dived into this and answered a lot of my questions and also pointed in the direction of a lot of natural remedies as well. Highly recommend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The great title lured me in to read this book. The author has a really great writing style, she's informative and comes across like a very kind doctor/confidant and friend. Her central premise that our hormones, gut and immune system isn't quite as revelatory as she thinks though, and the over used analogy between the body and a highway started to grate after a while.

Whilst her advice is solid (eat better, exercise better, don't get too stressed and sleep) it isn't really new information that these things will make us feel less tired. The case-studies somehow lack depth and seemed to be ticking off a broad spectrum of kinds of women, rather than relating to actual people.

All in all, I liked the book, but would have preferred more depth of science and nuance to the book.

This was incredibly specific to people with hormonal issues, and reading it, the entire time felt like it didn't apply to me, who is just super incredibly stressed out all the time. This is definitely more medical than mental, which it isn't very clear about in the copy.
