Thank you to Net Galley and Ashley Craft for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I teach a course on writing cookbooks and I love the way this one is set up. I also grew up a couple of miles from Disneyland and remember that their burgers were really good. So I was very excited to see this cookbook.
It is really fun to see the recipes for the things we buy for snacks at the park. And what a great way to have them cheaper and year round than buying this book. The churros are my favorite of the recipes. But there are many great ones.

The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook: From Delicious Dole Whip to Tasty Mickey Pretzels, 100 easy and delious recipes inspired by Walt Disney World by Ashley Craft is a fun cookbook. The drool making recipes are easy to follow, and I have already tried out a few recipes. This is the perfect cookbook for either making treats with, or for, your grandchildren. If you enjoy a cooking as much as I do, than I highly recommend this wonderful fun cookbook.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book has a really good range of very simple recipes to ones that are more involved so that all skill levels can enjoy. However, I'm not looking for a disney recipe book that simplifies the recipes, or else I could just try to make it up myself. I wish this book put the same amount of energy trying to replicate the flavors for every recipe instead of just a few. For example, the pork belly skewer from Bengal Barbecue is not just flavored with only hoisin sauce. I also found that some of the ingredients were a bit unrealistic to get hold of such as the passionfruit boba balls. It would have been fun to have a way to make something similar yourself. I also wish there were more photos to go with the recipes. I did love how there were little facts about the recipes as well as cooking tips. Overall, I think this is more of a beginner's cookbook for people who want easy recipes that can make them feel like they're at the parks.

When I started to read this book, the realization hit me: The original Walt Disney World in the US offers more than what I experienced in Asia or Europe counterparts. Look at the menus! You can make tons of parties the whole year long copying their food and drinks alone here and there.

Being a Disneyland fans herself, the author commits into compiling scrumptious recipes from Disneyland to reminds you by the fun and magic experienced inside the park.

The unofficial disney parks cookbook is amazing! I probably shouldn't have read this while I was hungry, because now all I can think about is disney food. I need to try these recipes asap. I loved the authors personal anecdotes about her disney food experience, and the history of food in disney parks. The only "downside" is that I would have loved more pictures. However, I understand that could be tricky- both for space, and for working around disney copyrights. I am definitely buying a hardcover copy of this book.

I loved this book so much! I miss going to the parks, and it made me nostalgic for some wonderful memories. I can't wait to make so many of these recipes.

Anyone who has loved the Disney parks, and enjoyed the food served in them, will welcome The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook: From Delicious Dole Whip to Tasty Mickey Pretzels, 100 Magical Disney-Inspired Recipes written by lifelong Disney lover Ashley Craft. Almost all of us have memories of eating favorite dishes at our various favorite Disney destinations, and this cookbook has recipes for many of them. While there are dozens of recipes for main and savory dishes, the book includes an extensive list of mouthwatering dessert recipes. The book is divided into different parks and includes recipes for dishes served in those places.

Since my Disney memories date back to long before Craft was even born, I was disappointed that most recipes were for more modern recipes. However, some of the treats, such as Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas and Fritters (2 favorites from Disney visits from the 60s and 70s), have stayed popular over the years and are included in this book. The recipes are written in an easy-to-follow manner, and most are simple enough to be successfully made by both beginning cooks as well as those who are more experienced.

There are very few photographs of the dishes, which is unfortunate, since most of us rely on them in a good cookbook to help us decide what to make.

Reading and cooking from this book will invoke memories of visiting Disney Parks and will make it very tempting to contact your travel agent and book a trip.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Ashley Craft has created a beautiful cookbook based on the magical world of Disney. Craft takes the reader through Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and California Adventures. With each chapter she discuses each park and the food you can find with them. You can find Green Milk from Star Wars Galaxy's Edge to Night Blossom in The World of Avatar. I chose to make the Campfire Chili which can be found in Grizzly Peak of California Adventure. What I found unique to the chili is that it didn't require much liquid that would then need to be cooked down. It is heavy in the cumin and also has curry powder in it. I modified it by adding a yellow bell pepper to it plus I cut down the black beans from 3 cans to 2. After sampling the recipe, my husband and I agree that it is very tasty. I couldn't tell you if it is a good copy cat to the original as I've never been to California Adventure, but I did think it needed a little heat so I added cayenne and chili powder. Topped it off with shredded cheese, green onions and a dollop of sour cream :) I took a picture but I will try and post it later. This is a fun and wonderful book that would be a treasure to any Disney enthusiast. I wish it had the Waldorf Salad from Frontier Land. It's my absolute favorite.

A good sales book for Disney Parks, although ‘not official’. Will be love buy Disney Park fans. Beware all the recipes will have your children bouncing off the walls they are so sugar filled. Those with less sugar are full of fat. Even those recipes with fruit don’t pretend to be healthy.
I’m surprised in this age of health awareness this book go so many good reviews?

The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook by Ashley Craft is a fun cookbook that takes you on a culinary tour of the Disney Parks. If you are longing for some coveted Disney churros or a Mickey waffle, this book has it all. It is a well-organized and easy to follow book of recipes that will make a staycation a little bit easier.

The book starts off with quite a lot of information about the food at the US Disney Parks and a backgrounder on how the author came to create the collection of recipes. There is also an extensive list of supplies included for those who are looking to whip up some of these copy-cat recipes. Although there aren’t as many images in the book that show off the various dishes that are included in the book, they are colourful and stunning.

The book is divided into the various parks and there are quite a few different recipes to create from each area. Items such as Mickey-shaped cookie cutters and a Mickey waffle iron might be needed for similar results. The instructions are fairly straightforward and many of the recipes are so basic that even the most inexperienced cooks can achieve success.

❀ PLEASING RESULTS

I am always up for trying a cookie recipe and created the Mickey Sugar Cookies. The recipe is a typical sugar cookie with the exception of the shape and the ideas for how to decorate it to achieve the same look as those you will find in the Magic Kingdom. I did purchase a Mickey cookie cutter and was quite pleased with the results.

Since I have only been to Disneyland, this cookbook provided some nostalgia for me. If you have never been to Disneyland or Disneyworld, this could be a treat to cook clones of the foods they serve in the parks.

This would be suitable for Disney Parks fans to add to their arsenal

Ashley Craft was fortunate to grow up near Disneyland in California and, as an adult, she aimed to recreate many of the delectable treats she enjoyed there. Her cookbook is packed with mouthwatering recipes, some historical detail, and information about the kitchen tools you will need to prepare the goodies, along with fun little intros to each recipe and several bright photos.

Inside these pages you’ll find ingredients and clear directions for things like Churros, Cookies and Cream Mickey Cupcakes, Beignets and Corn Dog Nuggets! For the sake of this review, I made one of my favorite things: Chili. The ingredients were affordable and easy to access and the meal was simple to prepare. The final product was bursting with flavor and while I’ve rarely met a chili I didn’t like, this is definitely one of the best recipes I’ve had!

I’m looking forward to making (and eating!) more from this cookbook in the near future!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my digital review copy. All opinions are my own.

As I go to review this book, I am immediately hungry for many of the Disney snacks I saw in real like at the parks or in the pages of this book. I am really missing the Parks and travel, so this book is exactly what I need and I think other Disney fans would need too. This book is more geared towards treats/snacks than actual meals from the parks. As you can imagine, the recipes are for largely unhealthy items ( just like in the park). The only real critique of this book is that you need to have a deep fryer for many recipes. I would recommend this book to any fans of theme park foods or Disney parks! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased honest review.

This book is amazing!! My whole family fell in love with the treats and meals at Disney when we went a few years. When I showed them this book, they were so happy that we would have the recipes to some of their favorite things from our trip! I always thought that there was some secret magical recipe that Disney didn't want to share with all of us, but now I am so excited to have these recipes and to be able to provide some magic for my kids and family from Disney!

The recipes are easy to read and follow which makes it nice even for my 12 year old to be able to try these recipes as well! Such a great book that is a must have for Disney fans of all ages!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book!

The magic of Disney in our own kitchens!?? What's not to like!! I loved being able to recreate these fun recipes in my home kitchen. The downside is there just wasn't enough pictures. However, the recipes are fun and will motivate you towards your kitchen, which is what the book is meant to do!!!

The Unofficial Disney Parks cookbook is packed with recipes that transport you back to parks and let you experience the magic from home. From dole whips to Mickey pretzels, it is loaded with fan favorites. I really enjoyed that the cookbook included some of the food history of the Disney Parks and some fun food facts along the way. This cookbook is perfect for Disney fans!

I received a copy of this title from the publisher via NetGalley which did not affect the contents of my review. All opinions are my own.

Having a daughter who used to be obsessed with the huge variety of Disney princesses and assorted other cartoons, we have visited Walt Disney World (and to a lesser extent Disneyland and even Disneyland Paris) many, many times. And they really do know how to perfect the customer experience – from when you get off the plane until you’re back at the airport, WDW can take care of just about everything…. for a price.

And although we have enjoyed the food, we never had really paid much attention to it – the rides have always driven our daily vacation planning. But I have become much more aware lately of the variety of food that’s available in the park, and the special treats that are very location specific within each park.

“The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook” by Ashley Craft captures some of this magic. Ms. Craft presents a bit of history of each of the parks (probably nothing new to anyone who’s obsessed with this stuff), but then gets into the good stuff – how to replicate some of the special treats at home.

The recipes range from the overly simple (really - popcorn? chili lime corn (corn, butter, chili-lime seasoning)?) to the more complex (Gaston’s Giant Cinnamon Rolls, carnitas tacos) but it’s the special treats (Dole Whip, Grey Stuff, Blue Milk) and the bits of history behind them that make this cookbook fun.

Not only did this make me want to make these recipes at home, but this also whetted my appetite for another trip down to Orlando (when it’s safe to do so). And this time, I will have my food stops planned just as carefully as my rides.

I requested and received a free advanced electronic copy from Adams Media via NetGalley. Thank you!
