I’m4/5 ⭐️
Hhhmmm okay so I’m in the BDSM community and I really enjoyed this! I’m glad that a lot of the stuff got explained and it seemed like a lot of good info.
The idea of a club seems really interesting and I liked how the MC knew nothing about the lifestyle previously and then found out and got into it.

I got about halfway through this and just could not do it anymore. The narration was like listening to nails screech on a chalkboard. There was no romance, no heat, no sexiness. It was boring and robotic. That being said, thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read and review!

I had multiple issues with this book.

There seemed to be some production issues, the book would get quieter and louder without me touching my phone.

I felt like Clint was not a good Dom for a new sub. He essentially abandoned her as a punishment when she was sorry about what had happened. Later, he punishes here for something that ultimately helped him out which caused damage. But yet, when it all ends, he forgives her. To me, this relationship is bordering on abuse.

While elements of the sex scenes seem realistic, the amount of times he was able to go at once felt very unrealistic. Trish even comments on it at one point so we know it is an extreme mount but he denies it.

This is not my typical genre, but when I was offered a copy of the audiobook to review, I gladly accepted since the Goodreads rating was over 4 stars. I didn't even really read the description.

So, the story... was not great. I did like that the characters were older than you typically see in this type of book. (Had enough 20 year olds falling in love.) Trish was awful- for being nearly 50 years old, she was incredibly naïve and dumb. Clint had somewhat more dimension, but he was a jerk at times. It isn't great. I can see people who read a lot of erotica enjoying the book, but it wasn't for me.

The narration- was horrible. Absolutely horrible. It was easy to understand, but that is the only positive thing I have to say. Trish came off as very whiny and often breathless and air-headed. It was extremely annoying. Honestly, I probably would have disliked the book less had I read it in print.

This was my first erotica book so I had a learning curve while listening to this book. This book helped me learn about BDSM and dom-sub relationships. There were times I found the main character whiny and annoying which took away from the story for me.

I did not like this book at all. The plot did not seem plausible and the narrator's voice made me want to cringe when I listened to this book. I could not finish it. It had steamy scenes but they definitely were not a turn on, but a turn off.

For me, I felt this story lacked real depth and character development - it mostly focuses on the world of BDSM - which I cannot vouch for the accuracy of. After splitting from her husband of many years, Trish believes that by entering this world she will become a more interesting person. In the club, that she joins, she is paired with a Dom called Clint that gets her learning a lot very quickly. I struggled with the narration, and the book was not for me - though I suspect that people who have a greater interest in this subject matter would find it more appealing. Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing the audio file.

Finding love after heartbreak will build you up when you have nothing else to lose. Trish found herself when her confidence received a devastating blow. Leaning a new lifestyle brought the balance she needed. Clint was finally able to heal after picking up the pieces of his past. Will they trust one another enough to find what they need? They will find the balance they desperately needed.

I am going to start off with I did not enjoy this book one bit. It didn’t get me hot and heavy at all. If anything, all I did was cringe.

I do not know how accurate the portrayal is in this book for BDSM. So I can not comment on that end. But I can tell you, it did not make me interested one bit. It didn’t make me fantasize about certain things, specifically sexual acts.

This book is about a women who is getting divorced from a man she’s been married to foe YEARS. Her soon to be ex husband claims she’s “boring” and not adventurous. So after that whole show down she goes out for drinks gets drunk and meets this guy. This guys essentially introduces her to the life of BDSM. And the book is about her journey in discovering this DOM/SUB life. In the midst of that, she essentially gets paired with Clint on this “2 week trial run” for this Dom/Sub life.

I felt like this book was practically all dialogue very few description. Everything just felt superficial, there was no depth to the plot of the characters. The main character Trish was just annoying. And for a women in her 50’s she just seemed to childish to believe. Long story short, I didn’t care for the characters one bit. I cringed through most of this book. And of course the ending was just wrapped in a cute little bow -_- and magically both characters fall in love within two weeks. Just not realistic for me. Therefore I couldn’t get into it

I received this and as an audio galley to listen to for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Spectrum Audio for giving me access.

Boring. Tiresome. Predictable. First three words of the synopsis pretty much sums it up for me.

Was it extra steamy? Yes. Do women in their late 40's/50's deserve all the X-rated fun they want? Yes. But something was lacking for me...story or character development or both. I just wasn't left satisfied and then we took a time jump to the future which just threw me off more.

This book was short and super steamy! I loved that this took a look at exploring kink/ bdsm older in life. Im so used to reading books where its the young 20 something that has no life experience. So seeing this told from a divorcee almost 50 yr old was a refreshing twist. I loved the narrators as well. Very enjoyable all around.

I’ve been listening to audiobooks on my daily commute. It beats the alternative - listening to the news on NPR talk about coronavirus and the election. The tagline for Adventurous Me: “Boring? Tiresome? Predictable? We'll see about that,” made me think of my commute immediately: boring, tiresome and predictable.

This book, on the other hand, was none of those things. When Trish’s husband decides he’s had enough of their marriage and leaves, Trish sets out for an adventure. Her adventure takes her to Bliss - a fetish club for the BDSM lifestyle.

Trish jumps into the lifestyle feet first, training as a sub with the “dungeon master” Dave, before she signs up for an annual event that assigns her to a Dom for two weeks. Trish is assigned to Clint - a brooding, quiet dominate.

I found that once I realized this story was about Clint and not about Trish, I was much more interested in the story. While Trish was a fine character, I couldn’t connect with her. However, I found Clint’s growth as a character much more enjoyable.

Not that there was a lot of “story” here - but this was the perfect escapism listen. This was very hot, steamy and smutty chapter after chapter. And it definitely made my commute less boring.

I do think I would have enjoyed this book more had I read it. I think the narrator might have ruined this one a little bit for me. She tended to end sentences in a lilt that felt like a question, when it wasn’t a question. And, her actual questions always sounded too much like begging.

I could not stand the narrator. She just had no emotion kinda like she was reading a children's book. I really wanted to listen/read this book it sounds great.

Deanndra Hall knocks this one out of the club. 50 Shades of Gray has nothing on this series. You take many twist and turns in this book as Trish finds herself after her marriage falls apart. The romance that is sparked in the most unusual of places really makes you long for that true love romance.
Books in the Bliss series can be stand alone books. Character cross over in each book but the stories are from the point of view one single character. Beyond amazing.

Adventurous Me is the perfect title for this story as Trish finds her new self. Being told she is boring by her soon to be ex-husband of 30 years, she stumbles upon Dave. Dave takes her under his wind and brings her to Bliss, the local BDSM club, and Trish begins her new journey to finding the real her. When given the chance to spend 2 weeks with a DOM, she takes it and is paired up with the one person who seems to hate her the most, Clint. But she takes on the challenge. Will this be the person to change her life? Clint is a tough character, and even with his back story, it was hard for me to warm up to him. While this relationship is difficult, I will tell you there are several things I loved about the book. I loved that it features a woman who is older, not perfect and she find her self confidence. This for me is everything! The story is steamy and adventurous and I loved her spunk and willingness to find her new self!

Anneliese Rennie brings the characters to life with a fantastic performance. She becomes Trish, and gives us her emotions on her sleeve. From the beginning, where she is put down to her ability to know her own worth, Rennie brings out the feelings with ease. She is talented, able to switch between characters with distinct voices and makes the book easy on the ears.

Adventurous Me is an erotica novel and I really enjoyed the content. The main character is a 50 year old woman going through a divorce and looking for an "adventure". She meets two men at a bar and one invites her to this club. When she gets to the club, she finds out it is a fetish BDSM club. The main character is introduced to many different sexual acts and eventually has a two-week trial run with a dom. The narrator is the sole reason why this is not getting a good review. She sounded like a fifty year old but with the demeanor of a whiny teenager. It was really terrible. I do not recommend this as an audio book.

Adventurous Me was basically what it said it was on the tin. A novel about a woman who has been left by her husband because she is "boring", and she searches for some adventure, and boy does she get it. I feel like it was a huge jump from being supposedly boring to being involved in a BDSM club. It just felt a little unrealistic and sudden. However, if you're looking for some smut, then this book could be for you.

4 Star Review Adventurous Me (Me, You and Us #1) by Deanndra Hall

AUDIO REVIEW:

Both the author Deanndra Hall and narrator Anneliese Rennie are new tome and I am surprised I have not come across them before. When Trish’s husband of 30 years tells her she is boring and he is divorcing her. Adrift and facing an uncertain future Trish decides time to life live.
When she meets Dave he invites her to his club. Accepting his invitation changes the course of her life. She is introduced to a lifestyle she didn’t even know she was drawn too.
Clint is a Dom and when Dave asks him to train Trish it opens up a whole new opportunity for them. Clint has been burned in the past and yet there is something about Trish that calls to him.

The writing was strong and the characters mature which I really liked. It was also steamy and kept me interested. I had a hard time connecting to the narrator but the story was good.

Can Clint and Trish pursue a relationship and in turn help each other heal their broken hearts?

When I first started reading this book I was wondering what was going on....did the author really know what she was writing about? Then as the story progressed, it finally made since as to why the storyline unfolded the way it did. After my confusion was settled I saw the book in a whole new way. I really enjoyed it. I listened to the audio version. The narrator did a good job and was she sounded age appropriate.

I received this title as an ARC for an honest review.
Let me begin by saying I have read quite a few books in this genre and while each have the same bdsm theme it’s the characters that can make or break the story. Trish is a 49 yr old female who has just had her world flipped upside down. Her husband of 30 years has decided that she is boring, predictable, and tiresome. After being crushed by her husband Trish decides it’s time to call her girlfriend Shiela and go paint the town red. In a drunken heart broken stuper Trisha meets a man by the name of Dave. Dave learns that Trish would like some adventure in her new found freedom and would like to prover her husband wrong in his assessment. Dave hands Trish a card that will change her life. A simple card with a name and address to a local club called Bliss. Little does she realize her entire life is about to be flipped upside down by BDSM, romance, and new found friendships.
Trish has a great comedic inner monologue during the process while falling head over heals with a stubborn DOM named Clint. Trish felt like she was missing something in her life and Dave showed her just what it was by introducing her to club Bliss and Clint. Clint is an awry, cynical 35 yr old Dom who isn’t ready for a Sub let alone looking for love. During a club event Trish and Clint are forced to pair up.

I found this title to be fun and full of laughter while also addressing some of the not so great parts of the life style.

“It’s BDSM for the geriatrics”

I would recommend this book to my friends as it was a good listen that I had a hard time putting down and turning off.
