I didn't like this book at all.. I didn't think the story was good at all.
Trish’s husband of almost 30 years described her when he told her he was leaving. Trish sets out to drink her blues away when she literally stumbles onto a man who offers her the adventure of a lifetime.

Adventurous Me by Deanndra Hall was not what I expected. I was looking for an erotic romance that had character development and plot development. This title had neither. It could have been a much better book with these two things. The reader is thrown into what felt like a bunch of disconnected sex scenes. These were well-written and extremely graphic. But as a reader of erotic fiction there is actually more to this genre than just sex. When it comes to the Narrator, I’ve listened to this narrator before and enjoyed her narration. This time I hated it. It was probably what she was reading but every time I heard the inner thoughts of Trish I could not help but roll my eyes and think to myself what an idiot! I hate to say that, but I even had my friend listen to about the first 4 hours of this book on a road trip this week and she felt the same way. I’m sorry this is not one I would recommend to any of my friends or purchase for my library’s collection.

Was there sex in this. Yes. A lot of it. Was it hot. Not really.

I know we’re supposed to feel bad for Clint but I didn’t and that’s the problem. Trish deserved so much better. She was just heartbroken by her ex husband who up and left her after 30 years of marriage. She stumbles into this lifestyle and then goes on this two week adventure with a hot younger man. I really liked the beginning. Trish was older but this young man wanted her. It was a nice change. An older woman, younger man, not a cougar situation. She was naturally submissive and he wanted her. But he treats her so badly. By the end I was just listening to find out what happened.

I don’t feel Trish and Clint belonged together. She deserved better.

Trish is getting kicked to the curb by her husband who finds her "boring" only to end up living a sub lifestyle where she is being demeaned by strangers. I did not enjoy the story even though I love sex: I couldn't stand listening to a woman calling a man she is being intimate with "master" and "sir," only to find out that one of her masters was 14 years younger than she was. Also, it was getting to me every time she was getting flustered when her master was being rough with her, whether physically or emotionally. Last but not least, the narrator was definitely not the right person to narrate this sex story. Her voice was anything but sexy. I just did not buy it. Maybe if the narrator would have been different, I would have enjoyed the story more.

Weak plot. Not much else going on other than sex. I couldn't understand how a woman with zero knowledge of the BDSM world can get into it so quickly and easily. The story and characters in general were simply not believable, simplistic and did not have any depth.

The cover and blurb of the book caught my attention and was excited for the chance to try an audiobook from a new-to-me-author.
I only listened to the sample provided and although the narrator's voice is pleasant, I am not sure it is the best choice for this story. I could not hear the difference between when the male or the female character was speaking, it took me a bit to figure out who was speaking when.

I had several issues with this book, #1 was the narrator who I felt sounded more like my grandmother which just put me off a little. Seeing as how I am older than the main character I don't believe I am that naive not do I sound that old. #2 would be that there is very little plot and little on character development. I liked the story but there wasn't much to hold on to.

However there was some good in this book as well. There is a great deal of good BDSM information in this book and description of toys etc. Plus the body positive side of bdsm shines through in that many of the subs in the club do not have perfect bodies but find their needs met and people who find them attractive.

The whole Trish got in a fight with her husband went out got drunk and in the span of a week decided she was going to "train" as a sub and have sex with random men thing was just a bit too much for me. I am willing to suspend my disbelief to a point but this just jumped the shark for me. While she was living with Clint for the trial 2 week period I found that you got nuggets of who these characters were however they both only seemed like shells and needed to be fleshed out so much more. I wouldn't say this book is great I feel like it needs work and I will give book 2 a try and see if it reads better in kindle format than audio.

Adventurous Me is a top-notch erotic love story. It's a male-female, BDSM-filled story of Trish, a more vanilla wife of 30 years who walks into a BDSM club one night... and doesn't go back.

I was obsessed with this book. Trish is super relatable as a character, which definitely bumped up my listening experience. But as I got this one in the form of an audiobook, I must say I did not enjoy the narration too much. For some reason I didn't like the narrator's voice, while her intonation was not always the best either.

That being said, I NEED more explicit audiobooks like this in my life.

This is a BDSM erotic love story filled in with multiple scenes. If you are into this lifestyle you may find the content offending and extreme. If however you are intrigued of what this lifestyle is you will get a pretty good and in detail view of what this entails. For those of you into BDSM, I am sure you will enjoy it especially with the rich and diverse series of erotic scenes.

I am into the lifestyle, however I owe to comment that I enjoyed the depth in the characters and I got so emotional with the romanticism towards the end. Deanndra shows her talent in combining eroticm and romance. Well done.
