I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. Though a bit dry for me at times I enjoyed reading this book.

This story was so intriguing I could not stop reading until I finished the book. Aunt Munca was so eccentric and her life was a real life soap opera, very interesting with a lot of twists but also very heart wrenching. Her story really does teach you to not judge people by how you perceive their life to be.

The author's journey to find out who his Aunt Munca truly was despite the lies that she constantly told made for a compelling read. So many of us wish that we could find out more about that one eccentric relative, but the author did and lucky for us is sharing what he found. Aunt Munca lived a conflicted life and the author made it clear that we cannot judge anyone by their material wealth or their place in society. I was engrossed in this and read it in one sitting!

Mount sleuths the history of his aunt, who was a force all of her own. She reinvented herself several times, as it suited her. Her life reminded me of a soap opera, marriages, some legal some not, lying, falsehoods, and complete fabrications. He did an incredible job of delving into archives, military records, to piece together a complete picture of her life. He did have a tendancy to wander down side trails that were only remotely attached to the main story. Those could have curbed as it detracted from the main story. The author seemed eager to note the extended family of most people his aunt came into contact, which made the narrative cumbersome at times. Kiss Myself Goodbye is an intriguing look at a nephew snooping into his aunts life and realizing he didn't know the true woman at all.
