This book description and the cover is what really drew me in, however, I quickly got bored of the small-town storyline with the girl unsure about the guy.

The back and forth, and the main character not knowing if she was good enough just really tired really quickly for me.

If you are looking for a simple chick-lit read, then this one might be for you. However, I did not love it as much as other books in this genre.

I really needed this book at this time, it was a good read. The first time I read this author, and I will read more. A sweet southern small-town story. The laughable moments were plenty and the shenanigans by the Mimi and her crew pure fun.

Small town dreams taking you out of town are not always ment to be. Riley and Hayden have both learned this. As the town of Maple Springs has brought them both back 10 years later as adults. The two connect and together they face problems of family, the town, and their own. Will they find themselves in the process?
I am looking forward to more of this series

This book was sweet and well-writer. A little predictable, but a satisfying read when you want something light.

This is a sweet romance with only kissing scenes. When the heroine's grandmother injured herself and unable to work at her yarn store, the heroine left NewYork and returned to help her grandparent. The hero works at his family'hardware store after his baseball career got derailed by an injury. Though the two attended high school together, the hero and the heroine didn't really talk to each other until they are adults. As the two connect with each other they face personal issues, small-town troubles, and family problems.

I enjoyed reading this sweet story of a younger, patient hero and an older, distant heroine. As my personal preference, I wanted more details for certain situations in the book. Like I wanted more details about the years the heroine spent in New York and the journey the hero took in handling his temper. It was nice that the grandmother has that group of friends that's been with her for so many years and that there are more characters that may get their own books in the future. Overall, this is a nice story and I look forward to reading more books in the Maple Falls series.

When I looked at the blurb for this book, I thought that this book had a lot going for it: nice book cover, interesting story line and likeable characters. (How many grandmothers do you know who break their legs while playing baseball?

Things started off well, but the story got directionless, fast. Changing points of view livened things up a bit, but I had no real idea why Riley felt she wasn't "good enough." The background for this feeling of worthlessness was never presented in a believable way: there was never a fleshed out backstory - just general allusions to a terrible upbringing because of all of Tracey's terrible boyfriends and their constant moving around. Later in the story, we find out that Erma, the grandmother, tried to hire a lawyer to get custody of Riley, but that her lawyer counseled Erma that the courts wouldn't intervene unless Riley was being physically abused. Seriously?!! This was stretching credulity a bit. That whole drama with the truth coming out about Tracey, and Erma's role in giving Riley a decent life, was just ridiculous. Riley's outraged reaction made no sense to me at all. Riley came across as a total drama queen during that scene. Everything just felt so contrived and over the top. (Jerry Springer had some potential contestants here!)

Another thing that bothered me: Riley always had a secret crush on Hayden, but during the first three quarters of this book, every time Hayden approaches Riley, she runs like hell - for no discernible reason. After this very odd behaviour, I have no idea why Hayden was attracted to Riley. Did Hayden have a serious Saviour Complex? That was the only explanation I could come up with.

Actually, there were some cute scenes and great dialogue between Erma and Riley. The Bosom Buddy squad was an interesting touch, but this story line kept getting derailed and ran out of steam way too many times. The break up between Riley and Hayden was totally foreseeable. Maybe Hayden was better off without this Yo-Yo female? Things start to get interesting in the last third of the story when Riley's terrible mother shows up to stir up more trouble and scandal. Tracey was more of a caricature than a character - just selfish and rotten to the core. I figured that the author wanted us to pity Riley, but "pitiful" story arcs never appeal to me. I like a heroine who grows a backbone and learns to triumph over adversity.

I'm rating this one a 3 out of 5. The author can write a decent sentence, but I couldn't get into this story. The blurb enticed me in but I got lost between the actual pages.

Hooked On You is a cute and squeaky clean romance novel. It's set in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The relationship between Hayden and Riley is barely existant and then all of a sudden they've fallen hard for one another, yet Riley is one to guard her heart. The characters were sweet enough but there was no real romance between Hayden and Riley until the ending and it felt forced. To me, this was just an okay read.

What a delightful book centered around young adults, Riley McAllister, now living in New York City to pursue her art career and Hayden Price, who has recently suffered an unfortunate injury, which ended his professional baseball career and has recently moved back home to Maple Falls, Arkansas.

Riley now returns after many years of being away, to help her grandmother as she heals from a broken leg. Hayden and Riley knew each other in school, but were never close. Many things happen while Riley is back and the people of the little town, where everyone knows your name and activities, seems to be out to make them a couple, in spite of their unwillingness to do so.

A fun book of seeing how trials, forgiveness and love can happen to many people in a small town.

Fuller's writing style was easy to read and get into. There's a real flow to the story because of this.

The romance was adorable, probably too cutesy for me but an enjoyable read regardless.

I did skim a bit because the ARC came as a pdf file on my Netgalley app and that isn't user friendly enough for me. This is at no fault to anyone however.

This was an absolutely delightful small town romcom. The characters were completely charming. The plot was captivating and engaging to the very end. Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

Hooked On You is an adorable romance! Riley is a wonderful leading charcater who experiences lots of growth opportunities. She hasn't found a place to truly call home yet, and her Mimi has something to say about it. Hayden is a fabulous match for Riley. He had a genuineness about him that was endearing and he was a true gentleman. I loved that the author wrote from Riley, Hayden, and Mimi's perspectives. Everyone loves a meddling grandma! Overall it was a very cute story about finding out what home really is, and sharing that with someone you love.

Recommended for anyone who loves clean sweet romances.

Riley and Hayden's relationship is adorable. It's a heartwarming story about love, family, and forgiveness. Perfect for fans of Gilmore Girls or small-town romances.

I know Kathleen Fuller by the Amish romances she writes, so this book is a departure for her. Once I got into the book, I was surprised that it took place in my old stomping grounds. I got a big kick out of picturing the places in my mind, because I know them well.

Riley is trying to live in New York and make it big in the art world. When her grandmother, Erma, breaks her leg playing in the church softball league, Erma calls Riley to come and take care of her. In her inimitable way, Erma sends her friend, Hayden, to pick up Riley from the airport. Erma is engaging in a bit of match-making and hoping that Riley will make her home in Maple Falls, and help her with her yarn store, Knots and Tangles.

The first thing Riley sees in the store is how cluttered it is and how hard it is to move around inside the store. Riley determines to do an overhaul of the store to make it more customer friendly.

Hayden works in his father's hardware store just across the main street from Knots and Tangles. He and Riley bump into each other frequently and a cautious friendship begins to grow.

The only fly in the ointment occurs when Riley's mom comes to town and stirs up a bit of trouble.

I chose this book because it dealt with some things I truly enjoy, especially yarn and yarn crafts. I did glean some ideas for projects I want to make. 😊

This is a solid four star book, a light read for a day when nothing more is needed.

This was an OK romance. It hits all the tropes that we love: return to a small town, rekindled school crush, nosy group of Aunties, adorable craft shop and protagonists with secret pasts. These are classics for a reason, and made for an enjoyable read.

That said, this doesn't exactly stand out as a great contemporary romance. The protagonists have a very sweet romance, but the “tortured souls” routine is tropey to the point of flirting with triteness. Eventually it stops being two people healing together and just becomes two people who shouldn't date until the heroine has six months of therapy. There are a few subplots with some promise, but they exist so briefly as plot progression tools that the story feels incomplete in parts.

Overall, a solid premise with lots of possibility. I enjoyed reading this book, it's okay to enjoy media that isn’t 100% perfection in a genre, but feel like this needs some polishing for the story to shine.

This was a cute read, but to cute and to PG 13 for my taste.
This wasn't really a romance novel, yes there are parts of book are romantic, but just a small part.
I love the grandmother / granddaughter relationship. But nothing really happens in this book.
It is just a sweet book about a scared girl who is in love with a boy...

Good but not great.

I loved the title and the cover of Hooked on You. After reading the delightful summary I knew I wanted to read this story!

Both Riley and Hayden have lived away from home while pursuing their individual dreams, but both are back in their hometown of Maple Springs. Hayden after suffering an injury to his shoulder that ended his baseball career and now working in the family hardware store, and Riley to help her Mimi with her yarn shop after she breaks her leg sliding into base during a church softball game.

I loved the humor in this story and Mimi's friends, the Bosom Buddies, better known as the BB's had me laughing out loud. What was a bit harder to deal with was Riley's prickly character. She had a hard start in life, so some of her issues were understandable. But at some point a grown woman close to thirty has to take responsibility for her choices and behavior and stop blaming her mother for everything that's wrong in her life. I do wish Riley had had her lightbulb epiphany moment sooner in the story and I can only wonder if guys would really hang in there like Hayden did with all her snarly behavior.

All in all, it was a fun and entertaining story I'd rate 3.5 stars. I appreciate Thomas Nelson making a copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
