Thank you so much to the publisher and to net galley for sending me a copy of this book. I fell in love with this book. It was so good, as great as the cover is, if not more!
I tried repeatedly to get engaged with this book and it seems it's not for me.
I didn't get most of it or when I was getting it took a twist and it lost me again. Its a shame because I was really looking forward to like it more.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book wasn't for me.
It was a bit confusing. It starts out with our main characters trying to please their parents by taking over the family business while navigating their own wants. It seems to be setting up for a story where the characters run the business their own way and then it takes a complete left turn.
There's an alien abduction and lots of exposition where they're showed around the new planet. There's repetition of the xenophobia and classism that drives the story that took place on Earth. There's an alien conspiracy. The stakes of the story weren't at all what I thought they'd be and the resolution left me feeling like I missed the point of the story. It seems to be part romance, part adventure, part sci fi?
While I appreciate the inclusion of gender-neutral language when describing characters I just couldn't get into this story.
