I really enjoyed the authors tone of voice in this book, I have a hard time with self help books that read like textbooks but this author was so relatable, felt like I was listening to a friend. The way she described her story made me feel like I had lived it with her and she was speaking to me. She touches on some very personal issues that I was able to relate to and I just loved this book so much more than I thought I would. This is a must read for women!

A very good and entertaining read! The book resonates a lot with discussions we've been having with my circle of friends - on love, trauma, intimacy, responsibility for your own feelings and forgiveness. Andy takes us through her journey to self love and self discovery and unpacks her experience of finding her inner love. I liked the read and the language she uses. Sometimes tho I felt it sounded all very simple, however she acknowledges that the process is not yet finished and everyone has their own story to unpack.

First thing that hooked me was her writing style. She has a way of talking to you about real things in life without really making it a boring self-help book. She described her story in way that easily allowed you to be her shadow. Seeing things from her eyes and feeling how she feels. She was able to directly speak to you and relate to you as a person through her experiences. She wrote things in this book that was downright hilarious and then hit you in the gut with the truth. She wrote "meeting the love of my life wasn't a garlic necklace warding off my shame vampire."
Shame was the biggest thing that spoke to me in this book. This isn't a manual on how to conquer it. She talks about the importance of embracing who you are shame and all.

My favorite quote in the whole book "Cooking quickly became a part of my love language for my new beau, and without realizing it, I began relying on food to do a lot of the heavy lifting for me in the relationship to compensate for everything I felt inadequate about in my own self." I read a lot of self-help books in my time but NO ONE....has ever written that before. It had so much truth in it that I had a ah-ha moment in my own relationship with my husband.

This book challenges you to look deeper than surface level issues. Even issues that I never really thought I had until I read this book. It encourages me to start my journey on discovering myself and embracing who I am. This book deserves so much more credit and I hope people who pick this up get as much out of it as I did.
