It’s a colourful poetic book.
However, there are a few flaws for me if I were to buy it.

I don’t like the illustrations much, the heads, that’s the things that seem less appealing and just not true to life.

I like that it has the points from the father. He didn’t have a father in his life so he wants to be a good one. I get that.

I think this book is more pointed at a parent to read this to their child but there are references to gold etc that veers more to a materialistic way of thinking in comparison side by side with his daughter that at times gets a bit of a troublesome thought from me.

With a little readjustment this could be a good acceptable story.

Bear in mind, this just are my thoughts on this!

Wasn’t sure on this one. Couldn’t work out the age range it is aimed at. A few sweet moments but found the dad a little overbearing.

Unfortunately this book really wasn't my sort of thing and I didn't enjoy it, although did understand that his daughter was him gem, his number one and he would do anything for her.
But I actually found him very overbearing, and it made me uncomfortable if I am totally honest.
Also not really sure what age this is aimed at to be talking about sex, and virginity etc.
Sorry, but this book isn't for me.

Doesn't match my religious beliefs, but the rhymes were well written and the message of self worth is one that's good in concept.

A beautiful story with poetic words. It was a little hard to determine who the audience was but a wonderful story and great representation of a doting black father through illustrations.

Worth the Weight by Fenyx Blue provides beautiful poetry that alludes to the literal priceless nature of our children. In this book, a father repeats a poem to his daughter and provides a actual gift of jewelry to remind his daughter of her worth at various milestone events in her life. The boost to self esteem and reminder of the love you have for your children will be a comforting reminder starting from their earliest days. The illustrations are presented in rich color and a fully detailed showing a beautiful baby who grows up as the book continues. The book also provides advice and gentle reminders that parenting is not all beautiful fairy tales. A good parent has to endure the hard times and be the support our children need to make the right choices. This book does have a Christian theme to it and in this world where abstinence is largely absent I appreciated that. I would not really clarify this as a children’s book as it does have themes that might be hard for a young child to understand. But, this message is crucial and could be shared starting about age 9 or so. His young gem does end up in her own happily ever after thanks to the support of her family. Readers will be inspired and encouraged. I was provided a free review copy of this book by Net Galley in exchange for my honest review. The opinions shared are my own.

This was sweet and heartwaring. It was not for my age range but I still enjoyed it.

I struggled with this one. The story itself is heartwarming, although it seemed misplaced in a picture book for young children. Some of the topics covered I feel are too grown to be in a picture book - purity ring, sex, boyfriend - it would have been better as a book for older children.

The book also felt crammed with a lot of text and monotony. There is too much happening in the book, a lot of text is repeated and it felt very text-heavy for young children. The design was also a little odd and the graphic seemed outdated.

Saying that, the message of a father's love for his daughter is a beautiful message that will resonate with many.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy in exchange for honest and unbiased feedback.

So sorry to say I couldn't like this one. I find the story quite incomplete and the writing quite monotonous and the story seems to focus a lot on jewellery. I didn't find the enjoyment in reading this one. It started out great but not for me.

The illustrations seem old as well for a children's book.

Thank you, authors and Publisher for the copy.

Such a lovely, heartwarming book about a father's love and devotion for his daughter. It has a beautiful message that empowers and uplifts young girls and it's filled with beautiful illustrations. I'm sure it'd be a great gift for new parents!

This book is about a father and his daughter, he grew up without a father figure and devoted his life to his daughter and god.

I wasn’t sure which age this book was aimed at I would think a middle grader/young teenager would appreciate and understand the sentiment the most.
It was a lovely story and I enjoyed it not even realising it would be a Christian book when I requested it

This is the story of a father, who has been raised without a father, and his internal conflicts as he holds his child in his arms for the first time. The book moves through various stages of his daughter's life through the perspective remains consistent through the father's eyes. There is a prayer that he says for her daughter as she is dealing with life's struggle and grows up.

The concept of this book, a father's openness about his vulnerabilities and struggles as he learns to be a father that he never had, is praiseworthy. Many children's books are from the mother's perspective so there is need for the perspective of fathers. However, I had difficulty with the way the story was written as well as the illustrations. The illustrations seemed unnatural and the writing was too long on some of the pages for a children's book.

I enjoyed this book but thought it was a little long.
It is classed as a children's book but the story is from a parents point of view and is quite adult oriantated. The illustrations are nice and are aimed at children in style so I am not quite sure if this book wants to be a childrens or an adult book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

This book had many aspects that I really enjoyed. I appreciated that this story revolved around a strong bond between a father and a daughter. It enforced a message that women are made special and they should treated as such. I will saw that it did seem drag on toward the end, and depending on the age of who reads this the readers should know it does allude to discussing the topic of sex.

This is such a sweet, emotional story. It is told from the father's view and begins on the day he holds his daughter in his arms for the first time.

We then see various stages of their lives together - her first day at school and the anxiety she had incase other people didn't like her, when she turned 13 and her hormones kicked in, her wedding day... it is a really beautiful story which shows how the relationship between father and daughter changes over time, but is just as strong as ever.

It's beautifully illustrated with bright pictures that are lovely.

Although this looks like a children's picture book, I think it is more appropriate for an older age - an adult becoming a parent for the first time perhaps so they can think about what lies ahead and all the stages their baby will go through...

Loved reading this.

Worth the Weight by Fenyx Blue is a beautifully illustrated poem sharing positive messages from a father to his daughter. Starting at her birth, Dad adores his daughter and shows her how she is to be cherished. His poetic words affirms her beauty and value. As she grows, he prays over her and throughout the book he explains that she is a rare gem and is cherished. He tells her she is priceless and gives her jewlery to illustrate weight and value. God's greatest gift. His words are encouraging and empowering for readers. As the daughter grows in to a teen and young lady, the father's affirmations help her make decisions around relationships, sex, and self-love. The voice of the father as the narrator is warm and caring, perfect for these themes.

Worth the Weight is a beautiful story and it made my eyes tear up. It tells the story of a father's love for his daughter. If you wanted to do a compare and contrast lesson with your students, you could use Worth the Weight and Love You Forever as the two books.

Fenyx Blue write a book that is poetry set to image, speaks to identity, value, and joy — and should absolutely be read, savored, and shared. This book speaks powerfully to important issues and underscores selfhood.
