I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Another great book from one of my favorite authors. Highly recommend to friends and family.

The Immortal Twin by D. B. Woodling.
The Immortal Detective Book 2.
Celeste Torok and her twin brother Nick could not be more different. Celeste is as introverted as Nick is charismatic. There is one thing, though, they have in common: they are mortal. Their immortal adoptive parents made sure of that.
I really really enjoyed this book. Great story and characters. I didn't like Yesenia. I was rooting for Celeste through. Did not see that coming. 4*.

Ended up DNF this title.

It had such an interesting concept and I haven't read too many books that involved twins. However the writing just wasn't my taste. I couldn't stay engaged and the plot just seemed to be all over the place. I really wanted to give this book a fair shot but I found myself hesitant to keep picking it up.

DNF at 60%
I'm just not enjoying this. The narration is far too juvenile for the target audience, the writing was stilted, there isn't so much as a whiff of a plot, and the time skips are random and clearly used as fillers. Also Celeste is just a very bland character with zero personality except for her love for Tristan and her brother.
Anyway, not for me.

I can not wait to ready more by this author. I really enjoyed this book and the plot. This author did amazing. I loved the writing style.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have always been a fan of vampire and paranormal romance. There is a lot to love about this story. The vampire are so well done that they blend into the world so perfectly. Celeste and her brother Nick are amazing and everything I love about twins. Tristian is interesting, but I still have a few questions about him. The family dynamics are a bit crazy since the twins are mortal and the rest of the family is not. This was a story I did not even know I wanted until I read it. I want to read more by this author for I love the way the story just flowed along.

With their parents murdered, Celeste and Nick are taken in by a pair of vampires. Life definitely takes a turn for them both and with Nick constantly acting out, the consequences impact Celeste the most. She finds herself on the outside, an outcast, and crazy about someone she can never be with.

Celeste begins to investigate the mysterious disappearance of children and finds herself stumbling into the start of a war. Just where will the investigation, and her heart, lead her?

A solid YA/teen paranormal story. Vampires and werewolves. A lot of action and some fun characters. The plot had so much potential, but the writing didn't quite live up to it. I'd chalk this up as a fun read.

THE IMMORTAL TWIN is an exciting paranormal action novel with a surprisingly complex plot for the young adult genre (so adults, don't be turned off by it's YA label!). It's got a unique take on vampires (don't expect this to be your run-of-the-mill vampire story), page after page of thrilling action scenes, fun historical details that allow us to glimpse the vampires' immortal life, and just enough romance for softies like me.

If you're looking for a YA paranormal that breaks away from what you're used to--if you want exciting action and fascinating history layered with your heroine's journey--then you should definitely read THE IMMORTAL TWIN.

Who doesn’t love a story with twins? And throw in some paranormal romance and you’ve got a real page turner.

I wanted to love this book and the plot/premise actually had a lot of potential! However, I spent 90% of the book confused and unsure of what exactly was happening during the story as the writing seemed to be too cryptic for my taste.

Such a good premise for a paranormal book though and definitely worth the read if you love this general genre.

Well let be start by saying, I enjoyed this book. I read a few other reviews that were not favorable, but I am glad I received an ARC and read it regardless. This is a great, very different storyline and I really did enjoy this way more then anticipated. The characters had good development and for the most part the story moved along. Yes, there are a few hiccups and a couple “what?” moments, there are some parts that can use a bit more buffing. All in all great story, minimal heat, fun characters and a not your every day plot.

This book sounded promising. I mean - when do you have twins and vampires in the same book? Unless it's The Vampire Diaries and I don't know why I expected this to be better executed.
It was NOT better executed. Matter of fact, I think it was even worse. It was drained with cliches, it was written like an even worse copy of The Vampire Diaries. It struck down every singe cliche I have ever read in a vampire book, even worse thant Twilight did.
I can absolutely NOT recommed this book and I loathe the time I wasted in this book.
Still, thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

I want to start off by saying that I think the Immortal Twin had tremendous potential to be great. I loved the premise of being mortal in the supernatural world and the twin dynamic of Celeste and Nick. That being said I felt really confused throughout this entire novel. The opening pages are so cryptic and vague that instead of setting the tone for the novel it left me with more questions than answers.

Celeste and Nick Torov were rescued by the rulers of the realm and given a pretty decent shot at life. I really wanted more backstory on their adoptive parents and their life instead of being thrown into their graduation where there seems to be a lot of unresolved emotional issues but no explanation.

Celeste and Tristan were perhaps my biggest pain point for this novel. I am quite surprised my eyes aren’t stuck at the back of my head from all the excessive eye-rolling that was done throughout this novel. Their interactions were very stiff and I suppose the aim of their conversations was to portray a forbidden lovers angle but it just came across as an awkward boy and girl.

I also was not a fan of the author’s tendency to jump/rush through scenes. I like to consider myself semi savvy when anticipating where authors are going or their natural progression in a story but I felt like we were jumping without proper explanations which overall just did not make sense.

Take Celeste and Ethan for example: - She initially felt corned and concerned by his incessant questions which is extremely justifiable to feel apprehensive about someone you barely know. But then she gets into a vehicle with him, allows him to see her address, and then jumps to thinking about him naked? I mean what’s the thought process here ???

I really think the characters needed to be properly defined as all of them seemed to be suffering from identity crises. Tristen was supposedly the bad boy yet he was crying and pining for Celeste, then his big secret which basically felt like a slap to the face (in my opinion). While some mystery is good this was almost to the point where I was totally clueless. More care characters for characters like fane who could be brilliant would have been extremely beneficial to the novel.

There were notes of humor sprinkled throughout and I wished there were more as the characters seemed more relatable. I really loved the idea of this book and truly believe there is potential. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an arc.

English Review:

1 / 5 stars

I will start saying this book has a lot of potential: the reason I wanted to read this book in the first place was because of the plot, which seemed really interesting. despite vampires being pretty common among fantasy and romance books (you don´t always see vampires and twins in the same book!). But, sadly, I didn´t enjoy this book.

The main thing that went through my mind during the reading process, was that this book didn´t make sense. First of, because it has a lot of things happening that are later never mentioned or are solved really quickly, I still don´t know which one was the main plot of the story, And that is just the beginning: Celeste, as a protagonist, was always so oblivious of all these things going around her, that I didn´t make sense she was even the main character! The book would have been more interesting if it was told from the perspective from, for example, Nick, her twin brother, who has a much interesting redemption arc that Celeste has throughout the story.

When it comes to romance in this book, well... it also doesn´t make sense. We barely get any interaction between the two love interests, and when we do, their conversations are always about the most important things and seemed so rush, that it makes it really hard to believe this characters are actually in love. Not to mentioned that all the characters in this book (expect, maybe, Nick) are so repetitive and concise, that they also don´t seem like real people either.

In conclusion, I really wanted to love this book, but the problems I named earlier were a really big factor that made it not a enjoyable reading.

Spanish Review:

1 / 5 estrellas
