If you enjoy reading Elin Hildebrand, and love a book that reads like an episode of Melrose Place, this is your novel! Gossip, secrets, suspense: it's all one really needs in women's lit book. A very belated thank you for the opportunity to read this prior to publication. I had never read any previous novels by Jennifer Snow as I thought she might be more focussed on stand-alone romance. This was a great beachy read and now I'm onto the sequel for this series.

Imagine your husband has left you for a younger woman. Now imagines she lives....and now they live.....next door. Seems like a bad chapter in a cheesy roamnce book, right? Well, not quite. Your cheating ex is dead and you are the primary suspect. Now that's a soap opera if I ever saw one. Turn the page and now all of the women, including your neighbor, have joined together to prove your innocence.

What a wonderfully different kind of murder mystery. Jennifer Snow definitely has provided this reader with some pretty heavy entertainment. Loved it!!!

This seems like a story which has been done before - almost to the point of being a trope -but the author really makes this into something compelling. The characters are really well developed and that makes it all the more immersive when you get to the twists and turns of their perspectives and choices. Loved the ending, too!

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. Interesting story. It is a women's fiction/mystery. Might be a good read for Halloween Month 🎃.

Did not enjoy this one, unfortunately - felt the characters were just too polarized, almost to the point of being stereotypes (the wife of decades who lets herself go and gobbles all the 'bad' food; the much younger mistress who's all about health food and a clean lifestyle...) The plot failed to capture me in between this (sadly, clichéd) polarization. This did have potential, and I wanted to find what really happened to the husband, but the characters grated

Housewife Chronicles is a good book - I think it is a difficult book to put down given its plot. But I can't say I find the plot relatable/likable considering the widow/mistress murder case particularly enjoyable. I just don't love the characters, like, they're all pretty terrible so I was really annoyed by them throughout the book and it focuses a little too much on the men in Beth and Gina's lives, which also annoyed me. Moreover, the book made comments about women that I did not vibe with. However, the mystery was interesting and the writing was good.

Fantastic Read!!

While the blurb intrigued me, Jennifer Snow hit a home run with Housewife Chronicles! I was hooked on this who-done-it and it's cast of wacky characters from beginning to end. That said, this review will have to be vague to protect the storyline.

The book is everything the blurb says and more. Beth, our lead character is the most honest character I have read in awhile. Along with her attitude-filled kids, her gaggle of neighborhood girlfriends, the cop, the whore's brother and the whore herself, Beth really doesn't know which way is up at the moment. What she does know, is that she didn't kill her husband. Or at least she doesn't think she did. Now the craziest assembly of women is gathering to help her figure out the death of her husband and the beginning of her new life all at once.

I feel bad I can't give this book a more detailed review, but I really don't want to give anything away. Housewife Chronicles is full of humor, angst, sexy and mystery all rolled into one very entertaining read!

* I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *

3.5 stars. Beth has a heck of a few weeks. Her husband’s infidelity comes to light with none other than her younger yoga teacher neighbor, Gina. Now her “friends” rally to her side to help her through the aftermath. Little does Beth know she’ll need Gina more than ever thanks to her husband dying shortly after he leaves. And leaves her as suspect #1.

Fun, if a bit predictable, summer read. Went fast and the characters were enjoyable. If you’re looking for a quick, fun read, read this.

What a story!! This book grabs you and you have to finish it to find out the ending.
Darkly comic and completely absorbing.

Housewife Chronicles has a little bit of everything - a murdered husband, mistress next door, meddling housewife neighbors, a sexy cop. Beth finds herself a suspect in her own husband's murder and is forced to enlist the help of the neighborhood ladies in clearing her name, meanwhile rebuilding her relationship with her children and finding herself in the process. Overall an entertaining read - my first by Jennifer Snow; I'll be looking for more from this author.

This is for sure a unique book and the experience of reading it was as fun as I assumed it would be when I found it. Very glad I didn't judge the book by its cover for this one.

Beth gave up an art career to be a stay-at-home mother. While it may not have been her passion, and she found that she was not necessarily good at it (cleaning was definitely not her thing!), she did feed her kids, keep their busy schedules organized and did not complain about this life path. The one thing she failed to notice was the growing distance between herself and her husband. After a "family" trip to Mexico, Beth learns of her husband's affair with the next door neighbor. She throws him out and two weeks later he is dead. Beth immediately falls under suspicion, and as the investigation plays out, Beth also re-evaluates her life choices and where she wants to go from this point. Meanwhile, Gina, the "home wrecker" next door neighbor, is also under investigation for her lover's death and is also trying to figure out her life's next steps since the perfect life she envisioned abruptly disappeared.

Billed as a psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns, I expected a lot more from this book. I expected a *gasp* ending and spent most of the book going back and forth between which woman killed Howard, the erstwhile husband...or if it could have even been another woman from the neighborhood gossip posse, only to be disappointed at the end. I felt like there were plenty of opportunities in this book to twist it to an edge-of-your-seat dark thriller, or to make it a dark comedy story, but neither option really happened, so it remained a rather bland story with an anti-climactic ending.

I enjoyed this book, the writing was good and the mystery well developed. I love the dark humour as well. It's hard to imagine being in Beth's scenario but I really felt for her as she figured out her community. There was a very human aspect to the writing which created a lot of empathy. Overall a really fun read.

Definitely a 3.5 star read. I didn't give it a 4 star or more because there are passages that really drag and just seem to go on much longer that necessary. But on the whole, I enjoyed this book.

This book is told by alternating narrators, next-door neighbors Beth and Gina. Beth is a mom of two teens, married for several years. The marriage is tired, her husband is disinterested, and poor Beth doesn't seem to have a clue. Living next door is young, attractive, stylish Gina, who is also a yoga instructor and just happens to be having an affair with Beth's husband. This isn't a spoiler, the blurb gives this away from the beginning. Then Beth's husband dies suddenly, and the story takes off from there, especially when it is determined that it wasn't a heart attack after all.

This book has great character development. Beth and Gina are in the same circle of friends, and we get to know all of the women well. Other characters are also well developed. Except for the feeling that this book could have had at least 50 pages edited out of it, I enjoyed it. And the resolution is pretty clever. Thanks very much to Net Galley and the publisher for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, while I do think this is one I would consider to be a more serious thriller, because of the typical within, I absolutely loved it! So well written, characters done flawlessly, and fun! A quick read, that was riveting and unputdownable! I would highly, highly recommend and will definitely be looking for more by this author! Not to be missed!
