Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. It has been awhile since I requested this book and knowing myself, I requested it based on the cover and the title alone... sometimes that bites me in the butt but this time, I really was happy with my choice. The story is tole by two narrators...Beth and Gina. Gina is the woman who was having an affair with Beth's husband until he died suddenly...they live next door to each other and have the same group of neighborhood friends so life is fairly interesting since the two were outed. When a police officer shows up at Beth's door one day telling Beth her husband was actually poisoned, things get even more interesting...BOTH women are forced to get out of their comfort zones and evolve into different people and do things that massively scare them...and I love that stuff. I would say I am more like Beth who lives a safe life, not doing anything that scares her and trying the best she can to raise two kids not to be an asshole... but I would LIKE to be more like Gina in that she is healthy and zen. The book goes on to show what happened to the cheating husband and how you can possibly come back from something like that, maybe even with a new friend or two...and more faith and hope in yourself than ever before. I loved it, all in all.

A fun and easy to read book. It's not a genre I normally read but I had fun reading it since it was a good breather for me in between all the crime thrillers I was reading at the time. The book deals with serious issues like spousal infidelity, bullying, teen pregnancy, gaslighting but I loved how the author managed to spin all these issues into a story that is fun, funny and quirky. I loved Beth and personally I felt she was a bit nice, understanding and forgiving towards Gina in the end because no matter how hard I tried I just could not like Gina! The three friends- Grace, Holly and Sophia- owned their own space and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for them. Beth's two teenage children deserved a good shaking/talking down for treating their mother the way they did. I was pretty glad that Howard decided to off himself 🤐 (even if unknowingly) because it made way for Detective Banks ❤️🔥-- but how I wish we could have had a scene with ghost Howard and him finding out that both his wife and girlfriend had already moved on to greener pastures 😉.

All in all I liked the book and I look forward to seeing what's next for the characters.

My thanks to NetGalley and the author Jennifer Snow for the e-Arc of the book. I have read two of her thriller books which she writes as J. M. Winchester but this is the first romance book I have read by her.

The book was published on 12th January 2021.

Pure escapism!
If you're a fan of Desperate Housewives then this is definitely one for you. A few pages in and I felt like I was on Wisteria Lane!
Yes, its a bit silly and far fetched but at the same time it's a good fun read . It's well written with an array of interesting characters . There's twists and turns along the way , scandal, humour and mystery and I enjoyed the female camaraderie.
Would make a good holiday read and I also loved the cover !

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Housewife Chronicles by Jennifer Snow.

Beth has just lost her ex-husband and father of her kids, but all was not well between them when he died. He was just beginning his new relationship with the yoga instructor in his neighborhood, complicating friendships and especially Beth's self confidence.

But what seems like a simple heart attack may be more sinister when Gina is arrested on suspicion of being responsible for her lover's death. Why would Gina kill her new love interest? And if it wasn't Gina, then who?

Uuuuuuuugh, this is not my kind of boooooooook. If I could choose one word for it, it would be silly. None of it was realistic. The friendships were completely vapid, the relationship between Beth and Gina was ridiculous, and Beth's romance with the cop who was investigating her was downright inappropriate, not to mention unethical. I just could not with this book, too fluffy/OTT, and I was definitely not the right audience for it.

The author pulled me right into this book and I could not put the book down as I read more about the chronicles of Beth's life. Beth was an interesting character with everything she has been going through. The book was thought provoking, especially for anyone who has children or has been cheated on by their husband. I cannot imagine Beth's husband moving into the next door neighbor's house after she threw him out.

I really liked all the thought provoking characters and the twists and turns. This book really showed how Beth took what life dealt her but she let it give her strength and courage, got rid of some insecurities she had for years, and she started a career she had always put on the back burner. You will not be able to put the book down! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

This book was written in a really easy to read format and I found I could get into the story straight away. I managed to read this book throughout a full day so it was one you could get through very quickly and it is well paced although not brilliantly plotted.

This book defies genre definitions and while I usually enjoy books that can cross genre boundaries, I think this book was trying to be too many things. It follows Beth who finds out her now dead husband was having an affair with her yoga teaching next door neighbour Gina for a year. Two weeks before his death Beth kicks him out and he dies of a heart attack but then the police suspect his death might not have been as natural as first presumed.

In present day Beth has a flirty storyline with both Gino the next door neighbour’s twin brother and the detective investigating her for possible murder. Gina is trying to become friends again with Beth but might be pregnant with Beth’s dead husbands baby. Beth’s kids have their own problems and Beth is thinking of selling the house and buying an arts studio. Phew! It was a lot going on!

I felt at times like I was reading different books within this novel as Beth’s romance plot lines felt totally different than the murder mystery elements or the Gina / Beth frenemy dynamic that plays out in the story.

This will be a great escapism read for those that are fans of contemporary and women’s fiction and it has a sharp bite of humour through it that I very much enjoyed. It also is a book about the positive power of female friendships and forgiveness. Topics not addressed in such a uplifting way in most popular fiction.

Thanks to the author Jennifer Snow, who also independently published this work and Netgalley for a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Housewife Chronicles by Jennifer Snow was such a delightful read. It´s a psychological fiction novel and I normally read romance novels, but this is such a well written book, filled with canny twist and turns that you had not seen coming.
I´m so hoping for more like this from Jennifer Snow.

The Housewife Chronicles is a highly enjoyable read about a woman, Beth, experiencing the ultimate betrayal followed by the death of the man who delivered said blow, her husband Howard. The story centers on a mystery surrounding the cause of his death and the suspicion that Beth had something to do with it.

While the story centers around this event and finding out "who done it", it's delivered by delving into Beth's relationships with her neighborhood friends, her children, and even the other woman, Gina. Everything is complicated by Gina's proximity to Beth, as the next-door neighbor. To that point, we also get Gina's point of view, as she considers her heartbreak at Howard's death and the repercussions of that relationship.

It's a lighter read than one might think and I really enjoyed getting to know both women. The cast of secondary characters, the sleuthing these friends get up to, shows the importance of friendship and forgiveness. It's an engaging and quick read as the mystery unfolds, the truth is sorted out, and Beth and Gina move forward with their lives. 4 Stars and recommendation.

This book had me hooked! The characters and story line was so well thought out and written to perfection! I always love books that reach out and grip me the way this one did. This was a new author for me as well. I am so looking forward to more books by Jennifer Snow!

Housewife Chronicles was a story about the realities of love, life and heartache. I found it to be amazingly realistic with every character having flaws and also relatability for me as the reader. There were times where I was rooting for one character, then another, then another. Jennifer Snow made me love and hate almost every single person in this book and that is something very difficult to do. I’m not sure that I have anything negative to say about this book, I have already passed it on to a few people in my life who I know would also love it.

5/5 stars, great read. Thank you to Jennifer Snow and Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review Housewife Chronicles.

This story is more of a spoof, so ridiculously implausible that I really just trudged through until the end. I was hoping to enjoy this story but it wasn’t for me.

The Housewife Chronicles
Author: Jennifer Snow
Self Published

Out NOW!

A story of deception, homicide, friendship, loyalty, and reinvention. Beth finds herself mourning the loss of her husband Howard, but she’s not the only one mourning his loss. Beth's next-door neighbor and previous yoga instructor, Gina, Howard’s mistress are also mourning his recent passing. What’s thought to be a heart attack that killed Howard is shown not to be the case as the coroner's report comes to light.

I loved how quickly I read through this. I liked the banter between Beth and the other housewives.

I liked the different points of view of the story. It switches between Beth and Gina so easily and it helps to reveal a lot more to the complicated story and event leading up to after Howard’s death.

For so long of the story, I didn’t see how the murderer was. Toward the end of the book, we get what I thought a huge twist in the story that I wasn’t expecting.

This book reminded me of the show The Desperate Housewives which I loved and miss. It was a perfect escape and change to my last read.

I enjoyed Jennifer’s writing style and look forward to reading more from this author.

I wasn't sure about this book when I first started it but........ I loved it!!!!!!! The camaraderie between the group of housewives was amazing & made me wish I had a group of friends like that. I think that's what this book is really about. The friendship between women & how when you find good friends you all really stick to each other & are there for each other. The author really made you sympathize for the wronged wife & the mistress. Which most writers can't do. This author did just that & it made for a very enjoyable read. Thank you to Netgalley for my honest review.

4 1/2 STARS!

Move over Wisteria Lane, there's a new set of housewives taking center stage! Jennifer Snow is spreading her wings with her latest release HOUSEWIFE CHRONICLES and I loved every minute of it. The concept is fresh, the humor is dark yet witty and the unlikely connection between these women is heartwarming. I'd love to see a series made out of these characters!

Beth's plight was quick to catch my attention and as things just kept coming at her time and time again, I had to admire how she was holding her head up and pushing through. She was kinder than I would have been under the circumstances.

Gina has a skewed mindset when it comes to standards, but underneath it all she had a good heart and it made her fairly redeemable even though I secretly still had to hate her a little bit.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for humor, scandal and a bit of mystery.

Discovering her husband is cheating with her yoga instructor is a bad thing but when it’s your yoga instructor and next door neighbor that would make me want to commit murder. Unfortunately for Beth Cartwright that’s exactly what the police suspect!!! And she didn’t do it. Someone poisoned her poor cheatin husband but it wasn’t Beth. Living in an upper class neighborhood has its perks, nosy neighbors/housewives is one of them. An unlikely group of amateur sleuths join forces to help Beth prove her innocence. In the midst of it all, the yoga instructor and cheater extraordinaire throws herself into the group to help solve the crime too.

What ensues is a darkly comedic look at unlikely friendships, unlikely love interests and one hell of a good time. I flew through this book in a day and found myself laughing out loud more than once. Told from the widow’s and the mistress’s perspectives this is a behind the scenes look at the aftershocks that occur because of infidelity.

I really enjoyed this book and gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Thank you @jensnowauthor for my digital copy of the book to review.

For a book about murder this was such a feel good book!

The characters were fantastic, I loved every one of them in there own way and there wasn't one perspective I found boring.

The pacing of the story was spot on. The plot moved seamlessly, not always focused on the murder but still keeping my interest.
Once I picked it up, I found it so hard to put down and when I did, I was always looking forward to picking it up again.

The element of humour throughout this book was fantastic. Dark humour but well done and well timed.

If I had to give one tiny criticism it would be that at times the writing came across slightly juvenile but that was at very brief moments and that's being super picky.

My favourite thing was the development of Beth's character. I enjoyed watching the relationships grow between those around her and with herself.

Five star read!🌟

Honestly this book was a tonic and definitely one that I'll be buying for myself to re-read over and over!

Due out January 12th!

Thank you to the author Jennifer Snow and Netgalley for an eArc of this book!

The Housewife Chronicles was an interesting story with one surprise after another. The many plot twists kept me turning the pages, and I liked that it had a bit of romance.

“My husband’s death should have been the worst thing to happen to me this month, but as it turns out, there are worse things a husband can do to a wife than simply die.”

Imagine, if you will, finding out your husband is leaving you for the young, hot yoga instructor that lives next door. After 15 years of marriage, this is where Beth finds herself. A housewife with no skills, alone, and watching Gina start a new life with HER husband. Literally. Right outside her kitchen window. A mere two weeks later, though, said husband is found dead in the mistresses lair.

What an absolutely refreshing take on a murder mystery! There is the requisite finger pointing by the nosy neighbors, two attitude laden teenagers, and yet there are budding romances? Hot men in backyard tents? There is forgiveness? Kindness? Women watching out for women? Yes, girls! I am here for it! These characters made me want to be a better person, seeing as I have NOT treated infidelity in my own life with this level of decorum.

If you are getting tired of the nasty vindictive who done its, give Housewife Chronicles a read! It may just make YOU want to be better too.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. Book published today, January 12, 2021!
