While at first it was a slow go for me but as soon as the pace picked up there was no looking back. I adore this authors writing style. The characters were so well developed with flaws and a great human side to them. Her vocabulary immense, and the effort Beckman put into this book is up there with a few of my favorites. A heart pounding and suspenseful novel that I read in just a few hours as I was NOT putting it down until I was done.

5 out of 5 stars

This was a slow burn but I’m so glad I stuck with it. This author is superb at character development and her vast vocabulary makes for a read that has no dull parts at all!

There are many books with the locked room trope and I really enjoy these, however I didn’t think this one was particularly different or unique and didn’t stand out from the others. It was an ok mystery but I wasn’t massively thrilled

It took me a while to get into this but I am glad I stuck with it as it is a strong mystery with a lot to offer the reader. The characters are well written and the author has a knack for good dialogue.

A great locked room mystery, perfect for readers looking for stories of old secrets! Author's writing is very much in the vein of Laura Lippman!

Thank you NetGalley for a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. The title, cover, and description really drew me into this book. However, as I read the book, I couldn’t help thinking I had read other books with similar plots. It wasn’t a bad book, there just wasn’t anything that jumped out at me.

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

This deals with an assault that happened 25 years ago. The 4 women come back to the cottage and a local lawyer is found dead. Who did it? Was it one of his many enemies or one of the group of friends? This was a slow burn mystery and I liked it.

I want to say thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for my complimentary copy of "Bitterroot Lake". If I am being honest, I did not particularly enjoy this book; but with this being said, it was definitely not the worst book I've read. I rated this book at 3 stars as it was well written and it had an interesting plotline.

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. I'll hopefully try again in the future. Didn't capture my attention and engagement. I'll hopefully try again in the future.

I had trouble putting down this book! It kept me guessing until the very end as to who was responsible for the murder of a man that had caused great pain in the past to a group of old friends. I loved the relationships between the characters, as well as the history of the setting and the small bit of the supernatural included.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Bitterroot Lake by Alicia Beckman was a little all over the place for me. It was also difficult to relate to the characters. I did like the setting though.

This was a mixed bag for me - I really struggled to connect to the story or the characters at all. I also found the paranormal elements of the story kind of odd and didn't seem to fit with the overall story but overall it was enjoyable enough.

Bitterroot Lake - I could just see Whitetail Lodge in all its glory over the years. Sarah McCaskill returns to the Lake after becoming widowed. Little did she know her friends and sister would show up where they would all have to relive a tragic accident that occurred years ago. A little slow for me, but the premise of the story was good.

This is definitely a slow burning mystery book but I enjoyed reading it. Some parts were predictable but I love how it’s set in a lodge in Montana. Will definitely watch out the author’s other books!

4 stars. Recently widowed, Sarah decided to head back to the family lodge in remote Montana to help her mother. Once there, she’s reconnected with old friends and an estranged sister to solve a murder and heal old wounds.

Nicely written story with good characters. The ending was a bit rushed, but not bad. A fun read.

I love a good mystery and this was a good one! A bit slower, but it had me from the beginning. Strong female characters, vivid descriptions and a story that was written beautifully. I will be looking for more titles by Beckman!
