I almost paused on this one, but kept going because I love historical romance. I haven’t read too many where the heroine “knows what she’s doing” ye ken what I’m saying. Call me old fashioned, but in the historical roms that I read I love my heroes large and in charge.😆 Then I remembered my all time fave heroine, Claire Fraser, was the one that popped Jamie Fraser’s cherry so I thought okay, I’ll give it a go. This book was good. I love seeing the growing chemistry between the H&H, and the originality of this story without spoiling anything. I also love when there is an element of mystery as well. All in all I would say this was a good solid read.

I can honestly say that Coll MacTaggert is my favorite. He is the oldest and the one that doesn't suffer foolishness. Treat everyone in my family right or you will suffer the consequences. He is more than just a big man. He is smart and intelligent. He has no patience for the women who swoon at the sight of him or their incessant talk about the weather. He needs to marry in order to not lose funding for their home. Mother is holding the bag. Persephone Jones is an actress. She is one of the premier actress in the city. She is smart and intelligent. She has secrets that she has kept for years. Since Coll and Persie have met, Coll sees the real Persephone. He has the patience to wait her out. Those two argue and yet they still fell in love. Coll can talk Gaelic to me all he wants. I do love how the book ended.

Coll is the final one to need a bride with his brothers now in love with their English wives. He hates when his mother throws lasses at him, and keeps storming out of the theater but this time around he finds a new lass that makes him ponder a bit more than normal. Persephone is one strong leading lady- but she is the famous actress of the theatre so can't get mixed up with a Lord. This one has a bunch of mystery in it. The MacTaggert siblings are just wonderful and in this one great.

The ending was super super fast and wish there was more at the ending with how it all happened. I wanted more at the end. Wish it wasn't the end but loved these three books were a great series.

Suzanne Enoch's final book and third book in the Wild Wicked Highlander’s series is called Hit Me with Your Best Scot. The novel is a delightful read that highlights an angry Scot, Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, who has been told that he must marry an English woman before his sister marries or he will lose all the financial support from his mother. He is angry because he does not want to be forced to marry anyone and feels it is demeaning. However, he does understand that he needs the money to help maintain the Scottish land he loves.

Persephone Jones loves being on stage and the various women she plays. She is not really interested in having a ‘special admirer’ and works hard to keep her daily life separate from her “actress life”. Coll MacTaggert meets Persephone Jones by accident and finds her interesting enough to tweak his mother about marrying an actress. Too bad someone is trying to kill Persephone and Coll is not going to let that happen. Too bad they have to spend hours together and find out how much they really enjoy each other. Too bad they can’t marry. Secrets and twist and more secrets come out. Hit Me With Your Best Scot by Suzanne Enoch is a fun read!

I've read the other books in this series so far and I was really interested to see how the series would conclude. Coll's character through the beginning of the series was the most stubborn and I couldn't imagine what kind of lady he would find that would really suit him. An actress was the perfect fit though and I loved the Persephone matched him so well. That being said (**spoiler alert**) I did wish that she was only an actress and not also a lady in disguise. I know that may have been less than historically accurate but I think it would've been a better fit for Coll's character and his obstinance. And honestly after seeing the struggle that Anthony and his actress went through on the Bridgerton show, it would've been nice to see an actress win one. But still the story was still nice and I enjoyed the romance of it. The family aspect of it was still a little bit of a struggle for me (as it was in the previous books) since I don't love what the mother did, leaving her sons and taking the daughter with her and then also forcing them all to play her games later in life. I know we learn in this book that she had written letters but still you don't wait 17 years for your kid to respond to a letter - you go and see your kids. I struggled with that piece a bit. Overall the book was still really good though - I enjoyed Coll very much as a character and his devotion to Persephone. I didn't love that he immediately started calling her Temperance as soon as he found out her secret. I felt like it would've been nicer to have him keep calling her Persie. It was still a really good story and a cute romance.

I have read a few of Suzanne Enoch and her novels, I was very interested in reading the story of Coll MacTaggert, the Viscount Glendarril’s story. It was a quick read and very entertaining. I would recommend this book if you like historical books.

Hit Me with Your Best Scot by Suzanne Enoch is book three in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series. The last MacTaggert brother to find a wife as he rebels against the decree. He meets Persephone who is an actress with a deep secret that only a few know about. Against all odds he falls in love with her. Someone is trying repeatedly to murder her, and the Highlander is set out to protect her and find the person out to kill her. Can a Viscount and an Actress marry with out turning London on its head? Will Persephone disclose her secret? This story was a bit slow in the beginning as details were laid out, but the pace picked up and the mystery became very interesting. I enjoy Scottish romance stories and this one did not disappoint. I enjoyed this story and I recommend it.

Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, is a giant of a man, and he's a Scot with no patience for any Sassenach. Especially not when that Sassenach is his absentee mother. After his mother fled the highlands 17 years ago with his baby sister, she and her husband agreed that all 3 brothers would have to come to England and marry Englishwomen, before their sister was to be wed. Coll's sister Eloise is engaged, and now Coll's younger brothers Niall and Aden have found their true loves as well. So, it's down to Coll. He loathes the idea of doing what his mother wants, but he can't afford to have her purse strings cut either. The people on their land depend on the MacTaggerts to keep things running smoothly. So, he'll look for a wife. But, meanwhile, he'll be pursuing the actress he's just fallen for at first sight.

Persephone Jones is a fairly famous actress in London. She has played many leading female roles over the last 7 years, and she hopes to see that continue. She's quite comfortable with her income, and her independence, thank you very much. When she sees Coll, she wants him, but titled men have never been anything but trouble for her. It's why she ran from her old life. But, Coll isn't like any English Viscount she's ever met. He's a Scot. He suffers no fools, and uses his fists when he needs to get his point across. She offers to teach him to court a proper English lady, to help him find a wife, if he'll be her protector from whomever is obviously intending to do her harm.

Persie & Coll had magnetic chemistry from the start, and I loved the dance they did around the idea of getting together. They basically started as friends, to a business arrangement of sorts, to lovers, and the journey was a lovely one. Their banter was excellent, and they really came to care for each other so much more than they expected to. They were both in love before they realized it!

Many of the side characters here we've seen before in the series, like Coll's parents, and his brothers who are always good for a laugh, as well as their wives. We also met Persie's employees, Flora, Gregory, and Gus, and her rough-and-tumble kitty, Hades. Everyone added to the story in their own way, and I always love catching up with the main characters from the prior books.

There was a bit of a suspense side plot here, regarding who was trying to kill Persephone, and why. It kept me guessing, as to the motive, and the culprit, and I enjoyed watching her and Coll investigate, and figure it out. It really added to my enjoyment of the story as a whole.

Persie and Coll were perfect for each other, and I loved that once Coll fell for her, he determined that no one would keep him from marrying her, regardless of her job, or any other silly reason. He was all in, and convinced her to be all in too. It was a fun, sweet, and sexy story, and I truly enjoyed it!

An actress finds herself a target for an unknown reason. A Highlander, in London, appoints himself himself her protector. He's on the hunt for a suitable wife, She's the last person he should be thinking about. But as he gets closer, things are not as they appear. Although they fall for each other, the whole world seems to be trying to keep them apart. Lots of intrigue and steamy romance, this is a very enjoyable read. The characters are a perfect match and the breast of the cast play their parts perfectly. I enjoyed reading this immensely!

This is a delightful story by Suzanne Enoch of a woman who plays romantic heroines on stage, but given up on love for herself, and the stubborn Scotsman who sees the woman behind the roles- and falls for her. Coll MacTaggart needs to find a wife, but has no interest in any of the young debutantes his mother is throwing at him. If he has to marry, he'll marry a woman he can at least tolerate, if not love. He feels the odd duck out in London, a Scottish aristocrat the English call a heathen while he considers them useless fops. But Persephone is different. Not just that she's an actress, but she sees him as a man and not a title. When it seems that someone is trying to kill Persephone, they come to an arrangement- he'll protect her, she'll give him tips on his wife hunt.

But Coll is honest enough to recognize the truth early on- he's fallen for Persephone and the idea that someone might hurt her is unthinkable to him. I loved Coll: a stubborn, smart man happy to fight but knowing sometimes fists aren't the right weapon for a battle. When he decides Persephone is it for him, he actually talks to her about it- making sure they are on the same page with what they want before trying to find the solutions. Every decision gets her vote and he doesn't make them for her. He doesn't assume she'll give up acting to be with him, but he does believe that its the two of them and their feelings that patter, not the views of the strangers of the ton. Persephone is just as wonderful- a woman with a secret past who learns to trust Coll and falls in love with him despite thinking they can't wed. After all, a viscount can't marry an actress- can he?

I loved these characters and their unique ways of approaching life and love. Dry wit, humor, Shakespeare, and a cat called Hades make "Hit Me With Your Best Scot" a winner for me!

Coll was stubborn in that he refused to marry an english lady as his mother wants him to . But it was fun to see him fall for Persephone.Then there is the mystery of Persephone and why she hiding from. It was an enjoyable book.

Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, is the last of the MacTaggert brothers to marry or his English mother will no longer support their castle in the highlands. All brothers must marry before their sister who is now engaged to marry. Coll doesn’t like the interference from his English mother who is determined to see her eldest son wedded and bedded. He encounters Miss Persephone Jones a famous actress every man wants for his own. The problem is she doesn’t want any man especially a Scot! Coll becomes quite intrigued by her, she’s feisty, beautiful and running to save her life. When it becomes apparent someone is out to murder Persephone, Coll is all about keeping her safe, but will his heart be safe. Loved this romantic adventure with two strong characters who are so perfect together!!! I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.

What an incredible finale to the Wild Wicked Highlanders series with a fast-paced romance that immediately captivated me and kept me totally involved in all that was happening from the first word to the last. I loved the instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between Coll MacTaggert who was forced to come to England to marry a proper lady and Persephone Jones, a famous actress who is wealthy, independent and smart. Ms. Enoch knocked my socks off with this fun historical romance and I can't wait to see what she has for us next. I received an advance reader copy of "Hit Me With Your Best Scot" from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Overview: Coll is a Scottish laird who has been drug to England to wed an English lass. In short, his mother is English while his father is Scottish. They are both quite strong willed, fought constantly and his mother left Scotland 17-years ago with her young daughter, leaving three sons behind in Scotland. Mom holds the purse strings and before she left she drew up a contract requiring her three sons to come to England to marry or face losing her financing.
Coll is the oldest brother, but the last to wed (one brother is already married and the other engaged; he marries during this story). Coll likes everyone to think of him as a big brute even though he is as cultured as most English lords. His mother keeps throwing women at him and during one such escapade he deserts her box at the theater and heads backstage to avoid the young misses. Here he meets our heroine, Persephone Jones, a famous and well sought-after woman. There is instant chemistry, even though they know neither is really interested in marrying the other for a variety of reasons.
The story develops nicely as Coll helps keep Persephone (aka Temperance) safe from someone trying to kill her (turns out she is a runaway lady heiress, and someone would like the funds she is due upon marriage).
I enjoyed the story once it got going; it developed somewhat slowly in my opinion. I love when stories include a lot of family, so long as they are the kind of family you’d want around, which is true in Coll’s case.
The reason this is rated 3.5-stars (rounded to 4) instead of five is for three reasons:
1. There was attraction between the two leads, but the sexual interactions were subpar by far.
2. They catch the person trying to kill her, but there is not the sense of finality as to their motives, why a secondary person was involved, etc. I know the fiancé wanted her betrothed to inherit the money, but I felt this should have been included. A few pages at least, if not a chapter.
3. There was no epilogue. Some may not care about this, but I love a second glimpse into the future of the two leads. What was the wedding like? What are they doing now? This story abruptly ends and it felt like a poor way to end an engaging story.

Hit Me With Your Best Scot is the third - and final - book in Suzanne Enoch's delightful Wild Wicked Highlanders series. Noooooooooooo! I'm not ready to let go of one of my favorite Highlander families! Though not my favorite of the series, it still was a hugely entertaining book and was a perfect ending to the series. It can stand alone, but reading the previous installments first really helps you understand the family dynamics. The main reason to read them, however, is that they're just so darn good.

Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, is the last standing single MacTaggert brother. He'll find his own wife without his mother's help, thank you very much! Coll originally planned to marry a lass, leave her in England and head back to his life in Scotland; but now he would like to marry for love, seeing both his brothers so in love with their ladies. While hiding in the wings of a theatre, avoiding his mother's matchmaking machinations, Coll spies beautiful actress Persephone Jones and is immediately drawn to her. She doesn't want or need a "protector", but when an attempt is made on her life she realizes she needs an actual protector! Coll and Persephone come to an agreement: Persephone will teach the big hulking Highlander how to woo a woman, and he in turn will protect her...while also messing with his mother, making her believe he is going to marry an actress. Oh, the scandal! Coll soon begins to suspect that Persephone isn't who she says she is, however. But he'll do all he can to really make her his!

The romance at the center of this book was beautiful and fun. Coll was a big man, more used to using his fists instead of words. It's amusing to see him so attracted to someone whose life actually revolves around words. He thinks he can find another woman to wed since Persephone claims to not want a permanent relationship, but he wants the kind of love his brothers found, and he knows he's finally found it. Persephone tries to resist, but who can resist a MacTaggert? It's the MacTaggert family dynamics, however, that I loved most about this story. Coll was extremely resentful of his mother, having been deserted by her 17 years ago and then her demanding the brothers come to England to find English wives. If they don't, she will not give them the desperately needed funds to take care of their estate in Scotland. The interactions between the brothers were hysterical at times, but you could feel the real affection between them. I just loved seeing parents Francesca and Angus reunited after 17 years apart. I'm going to miss this family! However, I will perhaps miss Rory the most...the bonnet, cravat, earbobs and skirt-wearing stuffed stag. The series is worth Rory alone!

Dragged to the theater one evening by Lady Francesca and her guests, with two potential brides joining them, Coll escaped the box seat and found himself backstage, mesmerized by the talent and beauty of Mrs. Persephone Jones, the leading lady.

Persephone is not looking for a suitable marriage or for any kind of romantic entanglement, but she is attracted to Coll, who is radically different from anyone else she has known. His directness and loyalty to his family and friends is appealing after eight years of hiding in plain sight, and she soon discovers she is in need of his protection after a series of accidents befall her. Admitting her real identity to Coll was liberating, and with the help of the MacTaggert boys, the mystery of why someone would want Persephone dead would soon be solved.

I enjoyed this story and appreciated Persephone’s determination in making a successful life for herself after running out on her arranged marriage to a man forty years her senior. On the surface, her talent for becoming someone else seemed to clash wildly with Coll’s brute force and direct manner, but there is no doubt the two love each other. Coll’s marriage deadline is fast approaching, and Persephone suits him quite well, and not just as an instrument to embarrass his mother by bringing an actress into the family. I love the close bond the MacTaggerts have, and their loyalty runs strong and deep, even bringing Laird Glendarril to London from the Scottish Highlands when he felt his sons needed him. Hit Me With Your Best Scot is a non-traditional romance between two people that seem to be strangely well suited, as both are strong and brave, willing to protect those they love from harm and scandal.

I will admit that I was iffy about reading this one. It's sometimes hit or miss for me with historical's lately and I wasn't really sure how much I would like this one based off the blurb. I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I didn't think that Coll and Persephone would be a match, but wow-they actually work in a way I didn't expect! Coll definitely likes to solve things with his fists but there are hidden layers to him that I wasn't expecting. I went into this book thinking he would be like one of those buff, MMA fighters that don't think of anything but fighting. But he is definitely more than that, and I was glad that my assumption was completely wrong. Persephone is an actress but also a woman beyond her time. She made the choice to live on her terms and be independent in a time when most women are not. I love her attitude and just the way she looks at life. The interactions between these two definitely made me laugh. And then you throw in the twist that I wasn't really expecting going into it? Definitely worth reading, and I am so glad I decided to try it!

Brawny Highlander Coll MacTaggert is accustomed to being useful and making his own decisions. He may be titled Viscount Glendarril but he’ snot interested in the opinions of the ton, even though his English mother’s edict demands he marry into it if he wants to maintain their beloved estate’s funding. Coll is determined to choose his own wife and he may have just stumbled onto his ideal bride, though his mother is sure to disapprove.

Persephone Jones has wealth, intelligence, a good deal of fame, and no interest in giving up her independence for marriage. The fact that Coll sees right through her disguises and seems to understand her better than she does herself is both intriguing and terrifying. But it seems someone is trying to kill her because of the wealth she could still inherit from the life she left behind as the daughter of a marquess. Coll is always up for a fight and he’s not about to let anything come between him and the lady who has captured his heart.

After a slightly slow start, I really got into this book and wound up loving it. Coll was my ideal hero with his protectiveness and genuine goodness. Even his stubbornness and tendency toward temper were charming because he recognized and attempted to improve on his flaws. Temperance was a good match for him because he couldn’t walk all over her, but she was also sensible enough to know when she needed his help and didn’t cling to her independence simply to preserve her pride. I loved that these two didn’t play games but instead were open and honest about their feelings and decided to fight to be together despite the factors set against them. The maturity with which they conducted their relationship was refreshing and made this a delight to read and they were both so sweet to each other that I found myself rereading passages.

I also really enjoyed seeing the MacTaggart family’s loyalty and unity at work and how they rallied around Coll and Temperance when needed. My only complaint is that I would’ve loved to see an epilogue detailing what exactly happened to the villain element here as that’s not mentioned after the catch is made. I also think seeing the wedding of at least Coll and Temperance and maybe Eloise and Matthew as well would’ve made the ending feel a bit more complete, especially as it was the conclusion of the series. I could’ve also done with a bit more apology from and redemption for Francesca and maybe some elaboration on where her relationship with Angus stood. Nevertheless, I still greatly enjoyed this one and it is my favorite of the series.

Coll would still fit right in to today as most do not like being told what to do, but this was way back in the day. He is not a jerk and rescues a lady but one that will not fit the mold of ladies of that time period. She even has a name that fits-Persephone. She also is in grave danger with someone wanting her life so that brings out even more of the protector in him. Of course motive that is still one today is money. As things go hearts also become involved so alot is at stake with this being one that keeps the pages turning. As a reader you want to see what direction this ends up at.

With a hero that is brawny and growly and a heroine that is smart and spunky, stole my heart and left me swooning. I really liked these two separately and as a couple. I felt the story was well written and held my attention easily. Add in a bit of mystery, some secrets to discover, a bit of baggage and family drama and you have a cleverly crafted romance that was immensely enjoyable and a perfect way to close out this series.
