Quick and satisfying listen. I was surprised by how much story this short book packed! It’s steamy and full of action right from the start. The hero is an alpha male who takes charge when needed. I’d recommend if you need a romance fix but don’t have time for a full length novel. This book definitely ticks off many boxes.

Narration was great! Both narrators switch seamlessly between all characters.

Both Gabe and Lillian are attracted to each other. But he is the CEO of the company she works for and he doesn’t want to cross the line. So he has been rather sullen and unkind to her. Until they are on a business trip to Nicaragua and their car is ambushed. Fleeing through the jungle Gabe decides he can’t stay away any more.

The story is rather short, so it feels like a fast train ride through their romance. I really liked it, but some parts were told more than experienced. I wish it had been longer. Hot though and I love alpha men brought to their knees.

I must admit I have read the book in 2018 and I recognized it immediately. The narrators do a very good job. Enjoyed it!

Many thanks to #netgalley for allowing me to listen to this audiobook of #blackburn by Brynne Asher.
I'm no stranger to Susan Stoker's Stoker Aces series and this was a great addition. Less than 3 hrs long this audiobook has great narration that kept me interested in a great story. I'd certainly read or listen to this author again.

Lillian comes from a privileged background but the one person that she loved most in the world taught her to be independent and forge her own path. When she finds herself on a trip with the CEO to market their latest tech product what starts as a test in patience for having to be in close contact with her sexy yet gruff boss turns into the adventure of a lifetime.

Gabe has been attracted to Lillian since their first meeting, but he has kept his distance due to their professional relationship. When their trip takes a turn, and they find themselves in danger it becomes a gamechanger and once they get out of this dire situation he will not let anything or anyone stand in the way of them being together.

Gabe shows that he is her champion whether they are in the jungle or back home while Lillian shows that she is more than capable of handling whatever life throws at them. I listened to an audio copy of this book and thought that the narrators were a perfect choice for the characters.

Blackburn is a quick romance/action combo. There wasn't much depth to the plot as I would have liked, and they fell in love a bit too quickly. I do like that the epilogue painted a picture of what happened next.

This was short but spicy!
I really liked our main guy, he was always in with the action; he did not stop, he was always finding solutions for everything. He was a man with a mission and he was going to finish it! Love it! Now... our main girl... smh... she was in the middle of a kidnapping situation and our girl was too busy feeling up our main guy and thinking all the things she wanted to do to him to read or do anything about the situation... shut up! You know how people says that men only think with their junk? Well, our main girl, only thought with her vajayjay! Like, a lot of times it was funny but the rest it was ridiculous!
Overall it was a cool read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Story:

I chose this audiobook on a whim from Netgalley’s new audio ARC program. I am not disappointed. This was a face paced action packed romp through a jungle set off by a super steamy break then dropped into incredible family drama. I’ve never read anything from Ms Asher before and that needs to change. The story kept my headphones glued in my ears until the end. Gabriel is definitely a take charge alpha male but Lillian is no shrinking flower and they make a good team. They also have rockin' chemistry and that doesn’t hurt. 😉

The narrators were also great.

This author is one of my favorites so I was so excited to see this audiobook available on Netgalley. Like all of Brynne Asher's books, even if this was definitely a shorter story, it still had everything I love about this author's writing. Gabriel is uber alpha, protective and such a bada$$. Lillian was just as fantastic, she was put in a horrible position but held on through it all. The suspense was fast paced, there were humous moments (loved the taxidermy cats!) and such intense and explosive chemistry.

The narrators, Virginia Rose & Aaron Shedlock were fantastic, they really brought Gabriel and Lillian to life. I normally listen to audiobooks on my commute to and from work, but with this one I was just able to relax and soak in all of the words. A fantastic book!

Thank you to Netgalley and Spectrum Audio for giving me the opportunity to listen to this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Spectrum Audio for the Advanced Listeners Copy of this audiobook due to release November 18, 2020.

This steamy novella is the perfect combo of adventure, suspense, and tension, with romance, passion, and sweet love. A lot of action and meaningful development of character happens in a short couple of hours. Gabe, the brooding hero, and Lillian, the lovely heroine, are not superficial or linear characters. This story develops their personalities and gives them depth of feeling and meaning. Even though it is such a short story, you might think the love story is forced or unnatural, or even corny, but it's not. The author and the narrators compel the story forward with depth and sincerity, as well as with a few very spicy love scenes, of course.

Absolutely loved this audio! The story is fantastic and the audio just adds more to it, the narration is fantastic and well done. My only wish is that it was longer!

A romance book that actually has some meat to it. The story was enjoyable with character development making it relatable.

So I should mention, I have never listened to a romance novel with more explicit scenes being read aloud. And for some reason, it really struck me as funny. But I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was just interesting to listen to them talk about what they were doing, trying to sound sultry I suppose. I'll just say, listening to it was humorous, watching it would probably be much less so...

I did have one tiny issue, I wasn't a huge fan of the voice of Lillian. In the book, she was described to have a soft southern accent, but the narrator actually had a, kinda, southern accent that seemed to cut in and out. Not a huge deal, but still a little eyebrow raising at times.

The story jumps right in and I was hooked. Did not realize there was a decent amount of violence and action, but was pleasantly surprised. More so by the action and not the violence. Ya know. But then it just keeps on popping from one exciting thing to the next. One of my favorite, if not the favorite, part was when (view spoiler) It just cracks me up!!!

The romance was fun and interesting. There was never a dull moment and it was so short that I couldn't help but really like it. I recommend this to romance lovers who love a good alpha male.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Spectrum Audio for allowing me to read this for my honest and unbiased opinion!

A 3 hour Audiobook that I picked up from Netgalley because
A) it was by one of my favourite authors

B) I needed a good lighthearted audiobook to get out of my funk!

C) because Brynne Asher writes amazing romances that you can’t help but binge read!

I completed the audiobook within a day - which included work and all the adulting - so you know even getting pulled into a 3 hour audiobook is a task on a regular day!

Blackburn is of a novella length- however the length is actually not of consequence when you pick up the book to read - it is packed full, and definitely reads like a full length romance novel!

Gabriel is Lillian’s boss’s boss - and one whom she has never been able to charm with her sunny and winning personality. The fact that she is really good at her job seems to be another mark against her. Gabriel might be hot, but he is also rude and apathetic to Lillian, and she has finally decided not to care about it.

When they are stuck in a life and death situation on one of their work trips - it brings forth their hidden attraction (in Lillain, mostly!) - the attraction, the chemistry and the synergy between Gabriel and Lillain had me swooning all through the book!

Gabriel might be an adorable jerk, but it was Lillian that had my heart - she was hilarious, sassy and quite resilient and I could see why Gabriel fell for her, even at the start.

The romance is cute, adorable and swoon - worthy; and Blackburn is a definite recommendation for those who would love their romance a little steamy, a lot cute and sweet, don’t think twice, just pick this one up!

Both narrators did a fantastic job with this book. They were 5 stars each. Loved both their books and they kept me fully engaged in the story.

The story was fun and flirty with a hint of dirty. And I loved the short length of it. It was long enough that It didn't feel rush but short enough that it wasn't boring or repetitive

Both narrators, Virginia Rose & Aaron Shedlock, were excellent - 5 stars - want more of them.

While this says office romance, it's more of a romantic suspense jungle theme romance and I'm glad for that - bring on the action part of the story, that was the best part.

The story itself was only 3 stars, I really enjoy this author but not her best work, a simple easy listen.

I received a copy via NetGalley

This was great. I listened to the audiobook version and the narrators fit the story. Its a novella and I love seeing these two get together.
A quick read with some hot romance and a great adventure.
Highly recommend.

Thank you NETGALLEY and the publisher for this audiobook ARC, in exchange for my honest review. ♥️

A very predictable boss and employee story, it was okay but after three times the boss's boss I know that you don't have to remind me of it another 20 times (or so it felt).
I liked the southern charm of Lillian, but the story didn't go into why they liked each other so it felt as insta love.
The narrators where good doing their own (male/female voice) but the male doing a female voice was not good for me.
2.5 stars

This book was so good. Thrilling, twisted, sizzling hot and so much more.
Both narrators did a sublime job by putting both main characters to live. It was a joy to listen to both of their voices. because they just fit. I loved the story from the very beginning. It was simply exciting to go through the jungle with both characters while they were trying to survive in the middle of a Nicaragua.

Unexpected, surprising, and totally unpredictable.
Anyway, I adored every second of this book.

I would also like to thank NetGalley and Spectrum Audio for the given opportunity to review this audiobook.
