I’m new to yoga but when I saw this title I had to pick it up. I’ve always been interested in astrology so putting the two of them together had me very intrigued. This is a practical guide with real world application.

Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for the advanced e-reader copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

There’s plenty to be learned or explored in this book. I’m fairly new to my yoga journey and as yet hadn’t explored it in conjunction with star signs.
The yoga poses are explained simply but effectively with stick man diagrams and there are prompts for visualisation and meditations.
Great book. Thanks to Netgalley And publisher for the opportunity to review a digital copy.

Nonfiction (Adult), Religion & Spirituality, Yoga, Astrology

The book is divided into two parts. Most of the chapters have exercises and meditations or visualizations associated with them.

Part 1: The Yoga by the Stars Approach
Part 2: Yoga and the Zodiac Signs

She includes a guide of the healing potential for each zodiac sign. I was thrilled at the potential for my zodiac sign of Sagittarius and not surprised at all of my husband’s sign of Aries. She provides tips on how to get the most out of the book by following the elements of each chapter. I also like the zodiac wheel and the chakras included in chapter 2.

Each chapter has a powerful affirmation to be repeated while holding a yoga pose. The stick figure poses are precise and easy to follow. What intrigues me about this book is the fact that she combines astrology and yoga together. Although I never thought of the two in the same sentence, the way she presents the information it all works together perfectly. The chapters end with meditation questions.

I have unofficially been doing yoga on and off for more than ten years. I know the poses but lack the drive to practice. My goal for 2021 is to become more connected with the moon and practice more yoga and meditation. I am going to use this book as a guide and record my progress in a journal.

Thank you, NetGalley, Jilly Shipway, and Llewelyn Publishers, for this advanced copy. Yoga by the Stars includes yoga practices inspired by the zodiac wheel; this consists of asanas, meditations, visualizations, and breathing exercises. I’ve honestly never considered the symbolism between yoga practice and zodiac signs, yet reading the book and completing some of the sequences feels intuitive.
Jilly Shipway does an excellent job of providing information on the zodiac wheel, the poses, the breathwork, and mantras to get even the most novice yogi going. The book moves through the months of the year, touching on each zodiac sign, with the intention of improved wellness and personal insight. The book is filled with a wealth of information. As a yoga teacher, I enjoyed her creative sequences and will incorporate this into my practice and with my students. This book will make a wonderful gift to any yoga student or teacher.

I’m a yogi and am currently finishing up my YTT and this book was so incredibly helpful! I have such a standardized way of doing things and I felt like my sequences were getting a bit mundane. I cannot wait to incorporate this into my practice. I never thought about doing yoga for the zodiac signs but it makes so much sense. It was very interesting to note that the sequence for my sign had some of the poses I already gravitate towards! The meditation aspect and breathing techniques were something I will take to my practices as well. This is a book I will keep coming back to for reference and looking for new ways to bring some variation into my sequences. I really enjoyed this read.

Yoga By The Stars is an interesting combination of yoga and astrology. It is a good twist of a book for yoga fans as it gives something a little bit different. I loved the sequences but found the matchstick men pictures a bit disappointing. That said there is a wealth of interesting information and the book would make an excellent gift for any yoga fans. Overall interesting and definitely worth a read as the sequences give a new and mindful way of doing yoga.

Yoga by the Stars is the astrology/yoga link I’ve wanted for so long. And, it’s practical too! So often we get theoretical focused yoga literature without diving into the real world application. This book dives in. The author gives you beautiful and creative sequences you can practice or adapt to teach a class. I recommend this book for students and teachers of yoga alike. It is insightful, self exploration provoking, and informative.
