After 2 great books by Carissa A Lynch I settled in for a third book I was sure would be as good. Alas that wasn't meant to be. Whisper Island has good moments but felt very predictable at all times. The characters were all edgy & I felt very ambivalent about them. With skeletons in everyone's closets, uncovering each of them made it slightly interesting for me. This is one of those plots where characters do exactly what they're not supposed to do but do it anyway. There was a lot of malice & viciousness that just didn't sit right with me. One of the thing's I also liked was the eerie atmosphere whisper Island had to it. With a few things I liked & a lot that didn't leave me guessing this wasn't the book for me. I think closed room thrillers may just not be the right sub-genre for me. That being said my faith in the author still stands & I will be on the lookout for her next book.

Thank you NetGalley, OMC books & Carissa Ann Lynch for an arc!

Fast paced read, but it wasn't the most compelling plot ever and wrapped up quickly. It was fine but not great.

Love the isolation trope. Friends going to a secluded island with danger around every corner is a great recipe for thrills and suspense. This is fast paced mystery with twists and turns throughout. The atmosphere gave the story a creepy, eerie feel. The ending was satisfying and unexpected. The plot was expertly crafted, creating a story I could not put down until the killer was revealed. Thank you NetGalley for my ARC.

This was a fun, spooky story. I enjoy thrillers that are locked-room type situations, and being stuck on an island definitely is that! I liked the multiple perspectives, and I thought the plot was interesting! I'd like to see a little more character development, but overall, this was a good story!

When four friends, Riley, Sam, Mia and Scarlett, decide to get away from it all over summer break to an abandoned island in a remote corner of Alaska, with no means of outside of communication, it seems like a crazy, but doable option. Then, Sam’s brother shows up with his new girlfriend, the group makes a gruesome discovery and the island’s boat, the only means of getting on and off the island, ends up unusable. Soon, the group is forced to confront the reality that things on the island are far from OK.

This book reads like a teen slasher movie, complete with you yelling at the characters for making all the dumb mistakes that leave you screaming “Nooooo!” It’s a wonderful, guilty treasure of a book for fans of the genre, who will revel in the shadowy villain stalking the victims one-by-one as more and more information is revealed about their motivations.

Each of the girls is interesting in their own ways and they make good characters for this type of ensemble book.

The overall reveal is pretty good and the ending is quite good as well. There are little hints of things along the way that provide clues, but things are still nice and interesting when we get there. And the final scene is also good in that slasher movie kind of way, just a hint of more terror to come, perhaps? Like any good horror movie.

If you are looking for a great honor treat, pick this one up!

Thanks for providing this precious arc in regards to the publisher and author!

A fun thriller that definitely shows potential for the author! Reminded me of The House Decagon Murders

Synopsis: Four artist friends have gotten a deal of a lifetime to spend a few months out on Whisper Island. They each have their own reasons and secrets for running off to this vacation. When they arrive and it isn’t what was advertised they become nervous. When they find a human skull they know they need to leave the island, until one of them is found murdered and The Who did it mystery begins.

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. This book was so good. The twists and turns left me wanting more. I was anxious and a little scared while reading the pages! This book is a take on an Agatha Christie book, however I haven’t ever read it so I went In blind! It made me want to read the Agatha Christie book soon! Definitely check this book out, you won’t regret it!

Whisper Island
It’s not the best book I’ve ever read but it’s a fun read and quickly got me through yet another lockdown afternoon. It’s the book equivalent of a cheesy teen horror, easy to watch but doesn’t make it any less enjoyable!
2.5/5

Whisper Island was pretty good! I wasn't overly blown away by it. I read The Lying Game by Ruth Ware earlier this year, and it had a similar feel. 4 girls/women get together, things start go go wrong, the end. It's a great beach or poolside read, but not at the top of my list of books I'd recommend to a friend.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this copy of Whisper Island by Carissa Ann Lynch.

A group of friends, all female artists, decide to take a trip to a remote, deserted island right after they graduate from college. Scarlett, Mia, Sammy and Riley, the newest additon to the group, all head to Whisper Island to spend the summer bonding and creating art before their adult life begins. Little do they know that there will be surprises galore once they reach Whisper Island and not all of the surprises will be welcome ones.

Whisper Island is a pretty standard thriller, fast moving without a lot of attention paid to the details. Lynch does a good job of writing different chapters from different character's perspectives. There were a couple of good twists that I didn't see coming but all in all Whisper Island is not entirely new territory if you read thrillers. A good, quick read to be sure especially if you're looking for something fast-paced.

This is one of better ya mysteries I have read.
Following a newly formed friendship group on a remote Alaskan island, there are a number of different subplots at play - the main friendship groups past stories , the troubled side characters, the mystery surrounding the abandoned house where they are staying.
I enjoyed the writing style , the pacing kept the story going at a brilliantly fast speed.
What I loved the most was the alternating points of view, and the clever introduction of the side characters voices.
No, the ending wasn't a massive shock or surprise but I enjoyed the journey.

Thank you Netgalley, publisher, and author for the gifted eArc in exchange for an honest review. I was a huge fan of ‘The One Night Stand’ and was super excited to see a new release from the author.

This was such a well written and addictive book - thanks to the short chapters! I personally love locked room mysteries, especially ones with Agatha Christie vibes on an island. I think the story could’ve have been a little more developed. As a seasoned thriller reader, you could tell the direction it was going in. It read a lot like a YA book, but it didn’t take away from it! It just seemed to easily wrapped in a bow. The character development was phenomenal and I could relate to most of them. I loved the different perspectives of each. This plays a huge part into whether the locked room is atmospheric. Overall, a great read and can’t wait to read more from Carissa.

This was a fast paced, riveting story! I couldn’t put it down til finished.
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a fast paced, murder mystery, who-done-it story and was a quick and engaging read. The alternating perspectives made the story fly by and helped me get invested in the plot and trying to figure out what was going to happen. Despite it following the recent trend of a group of friends go to a remote location and someone ends up dead formula, it was still a good read. 3.5 stars!

This book was so much fun! I love slasher movies, and this book gave me Cabin In the Woods vibes, which is one of my all time favorites! Although the big reveal was a bit predictable, the book was still really enjoyable!
