In their last year of college, four friends- Riley, Sam, Mia, and Scarlett decide to travel to Whisper Island for a getaway, to focus on their Art and a new project. When they arrive, Sammy's brother and his girlfriend are already there, and they encounter many disappointing surprises.. the house and island are nothing like what they expected. The story becomes dark and ominous when one by one each of the friends is found dead!

I was so excited by this premise, and was prepared for a reality bending, fun, suspenseful thriller! I love locked room mysteries and with the setting of a remote island off the coast of Alaska, this one had so much potential! I was intrigued at the beginning. Each of the four friends has their own backstory, with dark secrets that they are keeping from the others!

Unfortunately I felt like the writing was missing something. I didn't feel any of the suspense or fear that I would expect from this genre. It turns into a cheesy horror movie pretty fast, which I enjoy watching but not reading, so it may be that this was just not the book for me! I figured out what was going on pretty early in the story. It also felt a bit repetitive as we are constantly reminded of certain facts. For example, Mia has a famous Artist mother, and Sam acts like the big sister even though she's younger than her brother! This is the first book I've read that mentioned the Corona virus. It was a casual statement about how the island had been vacant due to Covid restrictions!

I will say that this is a quick easy read- I flew through it, and enjoyed the short chapters and varying perspectives!

I’m so sad to say I was not a fan of this book not enough action or suspense, I just wasn’t interested in at all.

These types of books are like crack to me. A group of people brought together, usually in some remote place, and they get picked off one by one! They are just so much fun to read. And this book was no different. I read it straight through from cover to cover. It was entertaining. Well paced. Each character had their own POV, which I always enjoy in these types of books. I will admit that I guessed who the killer was right from the start, but that didn't take away any of my enjoyment. A thoroughly delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

I needed a book which Siri could read out to me while doing my chores. And I chose this. 6 people on an island. Only 1 survived. Why? Who? The only questions in my mind.

My second book by this author, it made a brilliant audiobook as it was easily understood.

What I liked

Locked room/island mystery
Atmosphere of Alaskan island
Murder mystery
What I didn’t like

Easily predictable
Linear plotline
Overall, a book I didn’t have to really pay attention to much, even with multiple POV. I could get my chores and book done at the same time. On to my next…

I loved the premise for Whisper Island. A group of friends visiting an isolated island. What could possibly go wrong?! Well, of course so many things!

The characters weren’t exactly likeable they were all flawed to certain degrees. I don’t usually mind this because a flawed character usually makes things interesting. However I’m not sure I gelled with any of them. There was a bit of mystery surrounding the characters pasts. Which helped to increase my suspicions. The main questions I asked myself was. Could one of the group be responsible or was there someone else on the island?.

I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy Whisper Island because I did. However I’m not quite sure if it fully worked for me. There were moments where I was fully invested in what was happening and eager to find out what would take place next. However there were also moments where I found my attention wandering. So I can’t say that I was fully gripped the whole way through.

In Whisper Island there are secrets between this group of friends that are about to implode. A very twisty kind of story!

**3.5-stars **

Riley doesn't have any close friends until she meets Scarlett. The fellow art student is vibrant and sweeps Riley under her wing almost immediately upon meeting her. Riley really isn't sure why, but she's not going to protest. Riley is now part of a group. The rest of Scarlett's inner circle includes the most talented girl at school, Mia, and her long-time best friend, Sammy.

With the school year coming to a close, the girls discuss possibly traveling together. They want to get out of Tennessee and focus on their art; a real adventure. When Sammy presents them with the opportunity to go stay on a private island off the coast of Alaska, how can they say no?

They would get to stay for three months and it won't cost them a thing. The island belongs to the family of one of Sammy's brother's close friends. His family isn't using it, so it is open for the taking. Some of the girls require more convincing than others, but ultimately they decide to do it. To live in the moment and go on the ultimate adventure.

Upon arrival on Whisper Island, the girls are in for a surprise. Sammy's unreliable brother, Rob, and his new girlfriend, Opal, are already there, when they weren't suppose to arrive for another day. Let the uncomfortable fun begin. Rob and Mia are ex's and it did not end well. Mia was beyond miffed when she learned, at the airport, that Sammy had invited her brother along. But none of them had any clue Opal would be there. Who even is she?

As they start to explore the island and settle in, they make a haunting discovery. After that a lot of disturbing events take place, leaving the group wondering if they are actually alone on the island. Once the bodies start dropping, they know they need to get to the bottom of the mystery of Whisper Island, or risk never leaving again.

This was a fun little book. It reads just like a campy Slasher film; something I personally really enjoy. It's not perfect. Some of the interactions are cheesy and I definitely had some eye roll moments, but overall it's a fun escape from the world. It kept me entertained. I had some theories and one of them definitely panned out, but that didn't deplete my enjoyment level at all.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes Teen Slashers, remote locations, locked-room mysteries and/or toxic friend groups. Thank you so much to the publisher, One More Chapter, for providing me with a copy of this to read and review. I definitely had fun with it!

In 'Whisper Island', Lynch strikes the perfect balance between teen and adult fiction. Ideal for fans of Shari Lapena and Louise Candlish, and those who want a little more than what YA thrillers and mysteries can offer!
Whisper Island is about four art students who have skeletons in their closets - Riley, Scarlet, Mia and Sammy - and plan to escape reality for a while by holing themselves away on a remote Alaskan island to focus on their artwork. Add Sammy's brother, who also happens to be Mia's ex, and his new girlfriend into the mix and tensions quickly begin to rise. Then the killings start...
I love a book written from multiple perspectives and this was no exception! I was kept guessing right until the end as to who the killer was and I did *not* see the reveal coming - at all! As soon as I finished this one I immediately went online and bought four of Carissa Ann Lynch's other books as I just needed more.

One of my favorite mystery writers is Carissa Ann Lynch and I loved Whisper Island as it contained one of my favorite types of tropes in books - the revenge plot. In this book, we first meet Riley who has gone to Art School and makes friends with three other students Scarlett, Sam, and Mia. The girls are wanting to get away but with student debt, they need somewhere cheap and they have a plan to create art in solitude similar to an artist's retreat. Sam's brother has a friend that's family owned a house on Whisper Island and it is currently empty and the perfect environment for them to gather inspiration. The girls arrive at the house and it seems they are not alone as Sam's brother and his new girlfriend Opal have decided to crash the party. This rattles Mia as Sam's brother is the one who got away and broke her heart. During the stay, Scarlett finds a journal and in it was a sentence that jumped out at her "Elena Blackwood was the first to die". The name sounds familiar but Scarlett can't put her finger on it. During the next few days strange occurrences will happen and soon one by one, each person on the island will be attacked. Why is someone doing this and who was Elena Blackwood as it seems to connect to her? I did not see this twist coming in the book and was surprised myself. I also loved the story and the idea of hand-crafting jigsaw puzzles as sounds like an amazing skill and craft to be able to do, this is coming from someone who isn't very crafty myself. If you love novels like Ruth Ware's One by One and Gretchen McNeil's Ten, then you will love Whisper Island by Carissa Ann Lynch.

Gripping and quite suspenseful, this book had me turning the pages until the end. Well-developed characters with complicated relationships, a great setting and plenty of intrigue - I'd recommend it for fans of locked room mysteries and slow-burn thrillers.

A group of collage friends decide to take a trip away to Whisper Island, Alaska. The four girls Riley, Scarlett, Mia and Sammy embark on their 3 month trip to the remote island to have the peace and quiet to create pieces of art that they can make into puzzles. But of course things do not go as plan and when people start dying the girls are left asking is their someone else on the island or is the killer amongst them? They all have a secret so whose being targeted?

I wanted to love this book it's so up my alley but I must say I didn't love it. I guessed who it was and why quite early on. It is very simplistic the writing style and I think that is why I couldn't get fully on board with the story. Though I must say I enjoyed the short chapters from each girls point of view.

I also felt that Sammy s brother and girlfriend didn't add much to the story with them being there, I could of lived without them. Out of all the girls I liked Scarlett and Mia the best. But to be honest the girls didn't have much depth to them. I tried to connect to them all but it was quite hard to be honest.

The island is meant to be paradise but it clearly is more like hell. From when they get off the boat and it looks nothing like the photos that was sign one they should of left. Then the other things that happen before people start dying well they should of left with them also. But it is a work of fiction so I'm on board with why they stayed. I wish we got a bit more description though.

Would I recommend this book not to hardcore psychological thriller readers, but if you are new to the genre then yeah definately. It's an easy read and has a great concept. It's just a bit underwhelming if this is your genre of choice. I did like the show down at the end I enjoyed that the most actually and it was worth reading to get to that point. Happy to rate 2 stars.

Whisper Island is a triumph. Playing homage to And Then There Were None, a group of friends arrive at a remote island for a retreat, but are mysteriously killed one by one. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend it to any murder mystery fans

I really liked murder mysteries that are set on an island or a space that is cut off, aka a locked room murder. This was a good set up but in the end it was very predictable.

This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it! It was a fast paced locked room mystery that read like scenes of a horror movie. The first half of the book focuses on introducing the characters andsetting the characters up for the killing spree to come. Then the first victim dies and the pace picks up incredibly fast and the bodies start dropping left and right. It was really easy to figure out who the killer was but the why took longer to develop. The setting was perfectly isolated and creepy. I do wish the killer was a little less obvious but overall it is a fast paced and enjoyable read.

This was a very complicated thriller which was compelling from beginning to end. A variety of characters who moved the story along with lots of twists and turns. Great conclusion..

Whisper Island is about a group college friends that plan a trip as a sort of artist retreat to a remote island in Alaska. What could go wrong? This book is told from multiple perspectives. Each friend on the trip has something to hide and one of them is a killer but the author does a pretty good job of keeping that secret. It reads a bit like an homage to And Then There Were None which was kind of fun. If you’re wanting to read a spooky murder mystery it will fulfill the need.

This book had me gripped from the start. Its very spooky and the short chapters made it easy to race through.

I felt it was obvious who the killer was but I couldn't work out their intentions so it kept me guessing although towards the end it started to click together. I liked the modern day Agatha Christie and then there were none vibes.

The story telling was great and i could really clearly picture the island.

Thank you for the arc.

Whisper Island was a quick and easy read, one that I found enjoyable and kept me guessing whom was the guilty person up until almost the end of the book. The book had plenty of twists and turns although it does seem to be a storyline that you see kind of often maybe in small varations. I would recommend it to those that enjoy this genre of books.

I received a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.
