This was such a good read, I couldn’t put it down. Just reminds you the hurt people go through and hang on to. You just never know know what a person has been through

Wow! This is a gripping tale about four friends on a secluded island. I couldn’t tear myself away from reading Whisper Island as I really wanted to know who the killer was and why! This book will keep you wanting more. I really liked the friendship dynamics in this book and how carefully the author unpacked and detailed their relationships with each other. I also loved feeling different emotions from each of the characters as the story unfolded. I would recommend Whisper Island to anyone who was after a thrill and a bit of suspense. I wanted to keep reading on!

Lynch’s frightening tale speaks of how a group of school girls grew and spent college together at Monroe College of the Arts. A prestegous school for artistic students. Each of the girls had talent. Mia was a painter, as was Sammy. She also had the brains and the talent to organize and work with money. Scarlett entered with her talent as painter but her true love was photography. Riley the one who was different, not so slim and gorgeous, but she could design and make puzzles of all sizes. She developed special equipment to cut the pieces. While at Monroe, MIa and Riley lived together in an apartment. They all spoke of getting away after graduation. The group wanted to go somewhere secluded so they could work on projects to make a splash for developing their careers. Rob, Sammy’s brother, said he had a friend that could put them up in a large house on an island near Alaska. None were that excited about the destination but deciding the vacation would be in summer and the expenses would only reflect travel, initial hotel, and transportation expenses. This large house would cost nothing to stay for 3 months. Now frankly that was my first red flag. The entire first section reminded me of high school novels without an obvious plot. Continuing on, once the ladies arrived at the house, Sammy’s brother arrived with his girlfriend, Opal. At this point, Whisper Island became a diary of all that happened to each of the now familiar characters. The plot revived with unexpected terror and violence. I did find myself wondering who did what at this point. Any thoughts about not reading further went from my mind.

As one who has spent much time in the pages of a book throughout my life, I remember reading such mysteries in high school and college days. Should you be looking for something different, pick up Whisper Island. Yes, it is chilling and a bit disturbing. It would be an interesting read on a cold winter night.

If I’m being honest much of the book wasn’t all that exciting. There’s this ominous dreary feeling that resonates from the story but it wasn’t until the end that the book became one in its own and truly blew my mind. I loved the plot twist and how it ended. Sure I don’t necessarily think the villain was in the right, at least in harming everyone but who she actually wanted revenge on. But damnnnnnnnnn! It was awesome lol. 😈😈 The sick twisted side of me loves the karmic justice that played out. When Riley jumped off the cliff I was bummed. I was like what a cheap ending!!! But boy did I get a surprise when all was said and done. And to think she’ll possibly be able to go on with her life FOREVER tormenting Mia, I mean Holy Shit that’s insane!!!!!!! I do think the book starting from her POV built this immediate connection and I sort of fell for the biased narrative. Many of the other characters were just portrayed completely unlikable to the point I did not mind that they were killed. 🤐 I think the multi narratives also made it harder for me to piece things together, I had so many questions throughout. 🤔 The author defineitly took a common story and made it into her own. The book definitely has that classic murder mystery vibe where there’s not always a HEA and it really worked for the story & me.

Also as this was an ARC I’m hoping the final copy does not stop at 88% like this one did. Not cool 😠

Mmm, I started reading this story several times, but time and again, another book came in between. Maybe those false starts didn’t help me to get into the story, or they were a sign I wouldn’t like this story as much as I expected when I requested it on NetGalley. Although I don’t read them that often as I did in the past, I do love thrillers. But this one was just not that enthralling.

The writing is good; it’s an easy and fast read (after I really started reading, I finished it quickly). At first, I liked the multiple POV’s, but after a while, I got bored. The pacing was a little too slow for me, and I didn’t particularly like Riley, Sam, Mia, and Scarlett.

So this is definitely not a bad book; if you like thrillers, want to find out what happened on that island, this might be a book for you. It’s just not the right fit for me.

Good premise but just did not deliver for me. Did not enjoy the writing style or relate to the characters. Sorry found it hard to finish and the ending was just implausible. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

And then the deaths begin.

Amazing story. These characters were great in this story! I just love revenge boom setting and this one was beyond amazing!

A free vacation with friends to a remote area that is an artist’s paradise. What could be better? Well, I guess it would be better if your friends weren’t being killed left and right! An intriguing story with a surprise ending. Can’t wait to read another book by Carissa Ann Lynch.

The challenge for the reader is to guess the ending before it is revealed and that is quite a task. Four young women leaving college are persuaded to take a three month trip to a lonely island off Alaska which gives the book its title. The idea supposedly came from a friend of the drug addict brother of one of them, Sammy,who happens also to be the former boyfriend of another, Mia. It all begins to go wrong when, after a fourteen hour flight, the brother Rob is already there with a new girlfriend. Added to the mix are the mistakes in their past lives which some of them are trying to forget. The boat which is their only connection to civilisation is damaged then the murders start. Is there someone hiding on the island or is one of them responsible? The story is well told and chilling in parts. The ending is at the cost of even more deaths. This is a stimulating read designed to hold the reader’s attention. I recommend it.

A Perfect, Remote Island Getaway...? Not Quite....
Whisper Island - ideal for a remote, perfect getaway? A perfect break away from it all? An adventure? - think again. Six friends are setting off for just such a perfect adventure. They will not all come back. It’s a trip that is soon to take a nightmarish turn. A familiar, tried and tested premise but none the worse for that, a premise that is not only attractive but compelling and can work so well for the reader. An engaging read and provides some ideal escapism.

This was a really interesting and creepy locked room mystery.
The story was really compelling and it did kept me really intrigued until the end.
I enjoyed the narrative and setting.

The book is narrated by 4 characters and although they were quite good they were all very similar in terms of thought process so it was difficult at times to differentiate between them.

Nevertheless, the story was sure interesting and quite well paced, twisty and had some creepiness parts that made the reading interesting.

There are some plot holes but it was still a really enjoyable read and I would recommend it to young adult readers who like crime/mystery fiction.

Island set books always peak my curiosity and there was so much potential for this novel but what caused it to flop for me was the characters were one dimensional in my opinion and the timeline progressed so slow it was painful.

Riley, Mia, Sammy and Scarlett are four art students and best friends, who decide to take one last trip together before the beginning of their adult lives, to concentrate on their art and create something great together. But there destination is anything but idyllic. A small Islam’s off the Alaskan coast will be their home for the next three months, but soon after their arrival strange things start to happen and when one of them is found dead the real nightmare begins. Is someone else on the island going after them? After all, all of them are hiding some secrets they'd prefer to keep buried.

This was PURE ENTERTAINMENT! An isolated island? A group of people getting killed one by one? Ring any bells? As you might well know (cause I've repeated it thousands of times) my favorite book ever is "And then there were none", so this book had all the elements needed for me to love it.

With super short chapters and six different POVs, the action keeps moving forward at a nice pace and the "one more chapter and I go to sleep" proves very difficult to achieve. While this structure helped the plot, it also made a bit difficult to get any real development in any of the characters.

While I was expecting some kind of crazy twist towards the end, there was not, and although I bet on one of them as the villain from the start, the motivation was not revealed almost till the end, so it was enjoyable all the same.

Quick and super fun read that will make you feel as in the middle of a slasher movie.

A sinister suspense full of mystery and the underpinnings of a horror novel. The narrative starts out strong, being told from alternating perspectives and offering up bits of the story with each dialog. Ironically, what initially draws the reader in with this niche also ends up slowing the pace of the plot as does the halt in the earnest characterization that was offered early on. Perhaps done purposefully to hold readers at length and keep a certain a level of distain in place for this unlikable cast, Lynch does an exquisite job at keeping the readers guessing. Overall, a great read with that ‘whodunit’ factor and an edge of creepiness. 4 stars.

This was an entertaining mystery read. It was a quick read with a simple plot. Who the villain was was pretty predictable and there was a slight twist at the end. A book which I would recommend to others.

Whisper Island is very easy to devour in one sitting. In it, you will meet a group of people who get the opportunity to stay at a house in Alaska on an island for 3 months. Also, the entire stay is for free? So that being said, it was pretty hard to let this wonderful opportunity to pass by.

The group of people? Well, they are Riley, Sam, Mia, Scarlet, Rob, and Opal. Each person has a past and some dark secrets. With each twist and turn, I just wanted to know who the main suspect was. It's a murder mystery after all.

So, yes, I was on the edge of my seat - devouring the crap out of this book - trying to figure out who was killing who. Long story short, I'm a horrible detective and should stick with my day job. I had no idea that the one person was behind it all until it was too late. Each piece of information started to make sense after the big reveal.. but I'll admit, the ending confused the crap out of me.

I feel like I'm going to forever think about this as well. Everyone has dark secrets.. and I'm sure there's going to be more unleashed after that cliffhanger.

Whisper Island has my favorite type of trope: a locked room mystery. If anyone has ever met me they'd probably know that an instant selling point for basically any novel would be a set of characters in an abandoned location trying to figure out who the killer is before they all get picked off. It's a scenario so perfect for great plotting and having a great atmosphere, and Whisper Island has just that.

In this reiteration, we get a group of friends heading off to an island for an isolated retreat with a few uninvited guests. We are introduced to most of our characters before they visit the island, so it's nice not to be overwhelmed by names or things you'll have to remember before the action starts.

It's a little bit more slow paced than I was expecting, but it was nice to see the author easing off the gas when tensions were high. It was key to make you feel as unsettled as the characters, but the wait and the suspicion in the end is worth it in an abrupt and almost startling reveal.

Definitely worth check out Whisper Island if you are also a fan of these "last man standing" type of murder mysteries, and maybe this one might catch you off guard.

Four college friends, Riley, Sam, Scarlett, and Mia, set out on a trip to a remote island in Alaska with the intention of using the self-inposed solitude to work on their individual passion projects. The plan becomes marred, however, by the arrival of Sam's brother and his girlfriend, whose very presence unsettles the others from the very start. The six resign themselves to making the best of things, but when one of the party turns up dead, each wonders who among them can be trusted. Is there a killer among them, or is something more sinister afoot on Whisper Island?

Told from the alternating perspectives of each player, and rich in atmospheric detail, Ms Lynch has crafted another nerve shredding tale of suspense and intrigue.

This enjoyable book is about four art students on a getaway to the remote Whisper Island in Alaska that very soon turns deadly. The story is told from the point of view of the four girls along with two surprise last minute guests. Riley is the quiet timid one and the newest to this close knit group of girls. Mia is the genius painter, daughter of a celebrity artist. Scarlett is the dramatic queen of social media and Sammy is the brains of the group, stern and serious, focused on the fine details. It's her brother Rob, and his girlfriend, Opal, who invite themselves along to what the girls had considered as a private trip, and it irritates all of them to no end. Especially Mia, who dated Rob a while back and has never gotten over the way he broke her heart.

So already there's drama before the trip even begins. It's soon implied that more than one of the girls has agreed to this getaway to escape from 'something' back home in Tennessee. This is continually hinted at, to the point of getting tiresome, as it really doesn't need to be brought up constantly just to create suspense. But that's one of the issues with the story, that it felt like there was a lot of filler to add length. There's no lack of action, though, as bad things occur almost as soon as they step foot on the island. It soon becomes clear that the group may not be alone. Someone has brought them here to ensure that they never get off, but has that person been one of them all along?

The plot may not be anything you haven't read before, but was still engaging and did make me want to see how it was all going to end for this group. The characters were a bit one-dimensional, but you can't expect too much when they're going to die soon anyway! It just makes it easier not to be too connected to them, as I see it. There were a few things that confused me, like how the girls were apparently older than I had been picturing, more towards their late twenties. But that's quite late to be in school as undergraduates, and only one of them had a reason for being so, so perhaps I missed something? And there is an outbuilding on the island that all of them knew about but just left alone because it was locked. I mean come on, with all the deaths, they really would have explored that place sooner.

It's a fun read, you know what you're getting into and it delivers exactly that. I read it almost all in one sitting - the author is great at drawing you in and making you think 'Ok, just one more page' and then another and another until suddenly you're at the end and not ready for it to be over! I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

I tried wit this book, but honestly, I think it needs another couple of drafts before it is ready for primetime.
