Four college girlfriends set off on a trip to a remote Alaskan island to work on their artistic endeavors. But this is no Bachelorettes in Paradise and things turn deadly very quickly as one is murdered in the forest. What's the motive and who are the intended victims? Told from alternating points of view, the novel focuses on sins and secrets of the past as we see flawed and unlikable characters attempt to run from the truth. Its creepy but what thrill ride isn't? I raced through this one!

From the outset - and the references to her suggest this was intentional - Whisper Island reminded me of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. The remote island setting, a group thrown together, mysterious deaths and secrets. While it might not have quite lived up to that book, it was definitely a good read.
Our focus is a group of fairly unlikeable friends. We can see immediately that they each have secrets and are using this trip to Whisper Island to escape something. The lack of detail here was necessary, and though it was frustrating to not really get beneath the surface of these characters it was important for the story that we didn’t know too much too soon.
Once the group arrive on this run-down island it’s obvious that this isn’t quite the luxury idyll they had been expecting. The discovery of a skull and then some gruesome deaths had this teetering close to the edge of credible. The behaviour of the group once they start to get picked off is meant to show their rising fear, but it was rather more reminiscent of every over-the-top horror movie known.
While I didn’t feel that concerned by the events of the book, it was clear that those involved were more affected by things than they initially let on. As with most of these scenarios, things may have been different if people took responsibility for their actions. The story wouldn’t have been as much fun though!
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this prior to publication. I’m looking forward to recommending this to some of my students.

Okay, yet another book about an island, and this one had me hooked from the get-go.

This book has multiple points of view, mostly between four friends Sammy, Mia, Scarlett, and Riley - but we also get little glimpses into the heads of Sammy's brother and his girlfriend, Opal.

The book starts out innocent enough, four friends decided to spend their summer break on an island in Alaska, focusing on their art and just getting away.

But each person has a secret. The question is, whose secret is out to hurt the rest of the group?

I could not put this book down. I had to know what each of the girls' secrets was, and I had to know what on earth was going on with the island. There is so much going on in this book and it's all SO GOOD. It's a quick read that keeps you coming back for more, and a fun mystery to get immersed in.

If you're looking for something a little creepy for the new year, this one is for you!

Yes, I have work in the morning. Yes, it is late. Yes, my eyesight is getting blurry, but I refuse to go to bed until I know, the outcome of this story...

Aah, Whisper Island (love the title) is mysterious and ominous to the very end. It is remarkably good.

Thank you to NetGalley for an early review copy.

This was a quick and fun read- I finished it over a period of a few hours. It centers on 4 friends who take a trip to a remote island in Alaska together in order to take a break from stuff going on in their respective lives as well as concentrate on their art. Riley, Scarlett, Sammy, and Mia are all in art college together and jump at the opportunity to get away on a free trip. Things almost immediately go astray, with Sammy's brother Rob and his girlfriend Opal showing up, and something happening to the boat that was their only connection to the mainland. Things get creepy and then people start dying- is the murderer one of them or an unknown assailant o n the island?

The book alternates between the perspective of the 4 girls, all in the first person. I admit that I occasionally forgot whose chapter I was on, as all of them had similar thoughts. I couldn't get a grasp on how old they were supposed to be- they were all in college but at least one of them had a late start, and we know Sammy's brother Rob was "almost 30" and was 3 years older than she was; I am guessing they were in their mid 20s but wish some attention would have been paid to the fact that they weren't traditional college-aged students, if only to avoid the distraction of trying to figure it out. I also wish there was a little more backstory to develop the characterization that would have differentiated them from each other a bit more.

The mystery of the story was well done and I thought that the villain's intentions made sense Looking back, I am surprised I didn't figure out what was going on, but I didn't and was surprised when it was revealed, and I thought it tied everything together successfully.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and thought it was a quick and fun read. It read a little bit like a young adult novel to me, maybe due to the age and lack of differentiation between characters, but the mystery and reveal was sound, and the story was creepy and kept me guessing. I actually bought another Carissa Ann Lynch book right after I finished it. Overall, I'd recommend the book who like "locked room" type mysteries. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Compulsively readable, dark, twisty, and absolutely FUN. Couldn't put this one down once I started it.

Six young adults depart to Whisper Island to do their "thing in artwork". One of the
the group knows that they will make it back - but only that one person will survive (so they think).

The characters are young and impressionable and tend to act (and think) on impulse. This, as I may expect, for that age group. Yet, not always in the smartest way...

With multiple narrators, the reader is given a quality insight as to the psyche of the group. Also excellent character depiction.

The reader may figure out too soon who may survive...

As an educator, I believe that high school students and those early in college will enjoy this read immensely!

Many Thanks to HarperCollins, UK, One More Chapter & NetGalley for a fast and interesting read!

Whisper Island has some creepy vibes trough the whole story. I'm not a big fan of a cottages, especially the ones in the middle of nowhere.

When your dream trip turns into your worst nightmare. Are they all alone on the island or is there someone lurking behind the shadows?

Thank you NetGalley, Carissa Ann Lynch and HarperCollins UK for providing me this e-book.

Six of us are going to the island. Only one of us will make it back.
That one of us will be ME!

First I mast say that the synopsis of the book just hooked me and I was very intrigued. I am very pleased that it didn't disappoint me and remind me of my favorite old movies such as "I know what you did last summer" and "scream". It just put me in that mood..
I can't say that this is the best book that I had read this year and it's kind of predictable, especially the final confrontation was kind of silly.
But still it was very enjoyable like watching the '90s slasher teen movies like I mentioned before, which we hate and in the same time love.
It was very easy read and i found easy to follow the concept of the book and specially i like that it was writing from the points of view of all characters. It gave you the opportunity to see all more globally.

Thank you to the publisher, the author and to the NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC for exchange of my honest opinion.
Definitely recommending this book!!

When six people travel to Whisper Island to work on their art, they don't expect to die.

I read this book quickly. I must say, it was very engaging and dark, which I personally enjoy. There were six narratives and they all twisted around one another with hidden truths and dark secrets. As more people die on the secluded island, the struggle to discover the murderer begins, and so does the guesswork.

My biggest issue with this book is a small one: the use of the word "doughy." Everyone had a doughy face, which bothered me immensely. Doughy isn't attractive or cute. It reads more as slovenly and unkempt or even unattractive, but all of the characters are supposedly attractive. I wish the author could have found better adjectives.

Meh.

I wanted so much to love this book. The title and description were so intriguing and it sounded like just my book.

Unfortunately, it was underwhelming.

While the setup and premise are great, the characters are so incredibly immature. It wasn’t just that I didn’t like them (though I didn’t). It got to the point that I really didn’t care if they died. I was mildly curious about the why, but the who was obvious quickly. I also spent wayyyyy too much time wondering why people were lusting after the drug-addicted cheater pizza boy. Did. Not. Get.

The final confrontation was kind of silly and the end of the book even sillier.

I finished the book. Normally, if I can get through it and finish it, it rates a 3 star for me, but I really can’t recommend this one.

Sometimes it’s hard to navigate stories with a lot of characters. This one has several students going to do art in Alaska but things turn deadly quick. There’s a lot of storytelling and character building before we see action but that’s ok. It turns into a creepy thriller. I can understand the mixed reviews and I’d rate this a 3 star book.

2.5 Stars

With vibes of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie Whisper Island had a wonderful setting for a creepy mystery...a run down house on a desolate island. BUT...If you're gonna write an updated version of an Agatha Christie plot you better make sure it is done exactly right. Unfortunately this book didn't hit its mark and wasn't for me.

Despite having each chapter from a single character's perspective, which I love, they all seemed one dimensional and all were extremely unlikable. I did like the writing style as it made the book an easy read but the pace was a little slow and the action took a long time to come.

I wouldn't take this as a negative review because I would definitely read another book by this author. I have read many of her works and enjoyed them. This one just seemed to be more for the college crowd or could be considered a Young Adult or New Adult version of the Christie classic.

This thriller started off really slowly, but definitely got way better the more I got into it. It didn’t completely wow me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.

A new adult thriller - four friends and two guests head out to Alaska for a little vacation but only one leaves.

This was enjoyable and fast paced but a tad predictable (it was clear who was the murderer and the storyline). This was structured by having each Character speak from their perspective while moving the story forward.

It’s like if “The Guest List” & “A Cabin in the Wood” had a book baby. Certainly worth the read.

Locked room mysteries are my favorite genre to read and this one did not disappoint. I loved the setting and uncovering everyone’s secrets.

DNF

I couldn’t take the liberal use of italics. When we are in a characters POV, their thoughts should already be included, why are the emphasized so much? I couldn’t take the inner dialogue. It made it feel more of a amateur fiction book

A mostly satisfying mystery with a young-adult twist. Four art school friends decide to take a getaway to Whisper Island, Alaska for three months of painting and creating. However, it quickly becomes apparent that they are not alone on the mysterious island and one by one the bodies start stacking up.

This was definitely a slow burn to start with. Despite a lot of character building amongst the friends, I struggled to differentiate between the girls. Several times I had to flip back to the start of the chapter to remind myself which character I was reading perspective from. It wasn't until almost half way through that I settled into the story and the characters came to life (so to speak). From that point the story flowed much better, and despite the fact I pegged the ending very early on, it was still a highly enjoyable read. Each girl had her own secrets. Each held animosity towards the others and when the sabotage and paranoia took over, I was hooked.

Slow start but highly addictive.

Thanks to Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and Netgalley for my ARC.
