This is a good resource for parents. I loved when it said "When a child says, "Tell me a story," he is not asking for a narrative. He is asking for your attention.

What a fantastic book! It's full of great ideas and tips on telling stories to children. Wonderful for parents and educators. I wish that I have this book earlier so I can tell more stories to my kids... :)

I really liked this book, since I'm such a huge advocate for reading. It had a TON of great tips anyone can implement, such as:

-using stories to talk about behavior, to soothe, and to teach
-sharing stories versus asking the typical "How was your day."

"Truth is, we often don't want to rehash what happened earlier. We want to create intimacy now . . . storytelling is like wrapping your greeting in a big soft balloon."

Some great practices that I'm going to have my own students write about:
-Practice #7: Find Something Small and Make it Big (a globe to a tiny bug is a whole world)
-Practice #10: Open the Pantry (write about what peanut butter and pasta talk about all day)

Fantastic book! Stories are so important to people as a way to teach, entertain, form bonds, etc. and this book is a wonderful reminder of its importance. Anyone can be a storyteller, so this book is literally for anyone. While this book helps give steps of how to tell a great story, it's greatest attribute is that it reminds the reader why stories are so important and how to use them to form closer relationships with those we love. It teaches how to be more present in your life and to be more observant of our children and what they enjoy. I will definitely be coming back around to reread this one in a few years as it has some wonderful concepts and reminders to reiterate.
