Meal Prep in an Instant by Becca Ludlum was a very beginner friendly book for those who are new to meal prep and Instant Pot.

Ludlum breaks down different ways to cook in an Instant Pot, tools, grocery list, prep instructions, and much more. Most of the recipes are ones my family and I would both enjoy. I love that she has alternatives as well. The majourity of recipes were on the healthier side, which was nice as well.

I will be gifting this book to my friends with Instant Pots.

I received an eARC from DK and Alpha through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

Omgomgomg I love this book!
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for! This book is so awesome. It gives you everything from staples for the Instant Pot, healthy swaps to use on recipes, and even a completely laid out plan for meals per week. It has all of the recipes you need for the meal plans and pictures too. It even gives you alternative recipes for parts of the weeks meal plan if you’re not a fan of the planned meal.
There are prep times, cook times, instant pot settings and grocery lists for easy planning.
And the recipes actually look good y’all!
I can’t wait to purchase this book for myself and everyone I know that has one for Christmas....is it December 15th yet???

I liked the combination of meal prep advice and recipes together. The way the weeks were formatted made sense. I look forward to trying the recipes as I am always looking for more instapot meals.

"What's for dinner?"

This book does deliver on its promise and you'll have an answer for that question every single night! It has a plan for seven weeks of meal prepped recipes and clearly outlines the prep for you. It's all instant pot based. The recipes are not overly elaborate and are varied for each of the seven weeks covered.

Each week had some recipes I would be interested in trying, such as Beef Fajita Bowls and Asian Chicken Stir Fry with Ramen.

Occasionally there was a stretch to make it all in the Instant Pot that I felt would lead to a long lead up to dinner [ie make the chicken, then take it out, make the ramen, bring it to pressure for 1 minute and return the chicken vs extra time over making the ramen in a separate pot while the chicken cooks!] which may be perfect for some but wouldn't work for me personally.
Overall it's a great starting place for someone in love with their pressure cooker [or who wants to fall in love!] who is looking for a 'here you go' instant plan to get people fed all week long!
I was given a free uncorrected proof of this book to review

If you know me, you know that I absolutely love my Instant Pot beyond all reason. For a family that is as large and as busy as mine, my instant pot has been my greatest kitchen gadget to date. I think I use it every other day it seems. Combine this with my love of meal prepping and man this makes this book the perfect gift for me. I loved this book. I loved how it is broken down to different weeks, the bullet points make it it easy to follow and there is pictures galore of the recipes. The recipes themselves are pretty tasty too, which is always a plus for my picky family. I think this would make a great gift for any busy person out there.

Meal Prep in an Instant: 50 Make-Ahead Recipes and 7 Prep Plans for Your Instant Pot by Becca Ludlum
Publisher: DK
Genre: Cooking, Food & Wine | Nonfiction (Adult)
Release Date: December 15, 2020

I was so excited when I saw Meal Prep in an Instant by Becca Ludlum. I'll be the first to admit I am a little timid when it comes to using my Instant Pot, especially to make better-for-you recipes.

This book includes the basics of meal prepping, including determining the 'level of prep' that is 'right for you' - Lunches Only, Breakfasts and Lunches, Breakfasts, or Lunches & Dinners and choosing 'your prep method' - Prep, Cook and then Refrigerate or Freeze Method, Prep, Freeze, and then Cook Method, or Ingredients-Only Prep Method, as well as Tips For Meal Prep Success. There are also tips for cooking with the Instant Pot, as well as suggestions for ingredient swaps.

There are seven different weekly meal plans with something for everyone. My favorites from Week One are Beef Fajita Bowls and Chocolate Chips Brownies. Some recipes from Week Two are Southwest Stuffed Peppers and Easy Lava Cake Bites (!!!!). Week Three includes Asian Chicken "Stir-Fry" with Ramen and Classic Lasagna with Ground Turkey. Kung Pao Chicken is included in Week Five and Lightened-Up Cheesecake with Sliced Strawberries is included in Week Six. Week Seven included Philly Cheesesteak Pasts and Blueberry Oatmeal Bake with Cream Cheese Filling.

There are beautiful pictures and the recipes are easy to follow. Each recipe also includes the nutrition information.

I'm so grateful to Becca Ludlum, DK, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This is my new favorite cookbook. With the Instant Pot craze- there aren’t many cookbooks dedicated to complete meals. This book not only gives 7 entire weeks of meals, but a solid breakfast and dessert option as well. You can’t ask for a more complete cookbook for a mom on the go!

I loved this easy cookbook. Using my Instant Pot is wonderful and having recipes for weekly meal prep just made life easier.

Beautiful and practical, with healthful and nutritious recipes that don't subscribe to a trendy diet style, but include a few recipes that could also work for people who follow paleo, plant based, etc. It is mostly helpful for those who are purely omnivorous and just doing their best to cut out processed foods. The two week meal plan that is included is helpful, but honestly could have been expanded to an entire month to be more helpful and instructive for people who are just learning the science of meal planning. Everyone can find recipes, but finding ways to make it easy and save yourself some time is the real goal readers are trying to hard to accomplish when they purchase a book like this.

Meal Prep in an Instant is a nicely curated collection of recipes and tutorials dedicated to the instant pot and developed by Becca Ludlum. Due out 15th Dec 2020 from Penguin Random House on their DK imprint, it's 160 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

I love my Instant Pot beyond all reason. It's a staple of my kitchen and it gets used almost every day for food prep. I'm also a busy person with a job that eats up a significant amount of my time. This book cobines some of the strengths of the instant pot cooker with the efficiency of meal prep and planning.

I liked the efficient and accessible layout of this book. A general introduction covers what meal planning and prep entail, some food handling & safety tips, and a solid tutorial for cooking with the Instant Pot.

The recipes have their ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard with metric measures in parentheses. Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. The ingredients are all easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store.

The 7 meal plans are arranged weekly. Each week contains shopping lists and pantry supplies, recipes and full instructions. Recipes contain an introduction and special features, prep times and yields. Ingredients are listed bullet style in a sidebar with American and metric measures (yay!). Step by step instructions for preparation and storage as well as basic nutritional info are included. There book does include an abbreviated index with meal plan weeks and recipes listed.

The photography is sufficient but not plentiful; roughly 10% of the recipes are pictured. The photos which are included in the cookbook are well done, clear, appealing, and (for tutorial photos) easy to follow.

Nicely done. This book would make a great gift/housewarming for someone looking for instant pot recipes as well as fans of food prep planning / batch cooking. It would also make a nice selection for library collections.

Five stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This will be a handy book for those who want to use their Instant Pots to make meals (or parts of them) a week at a time. It's designed to make relatively healthy, whole foods versions of fairly standard American recipes. Recipes are not labeled gluten free, etc. and many rely on animal products like meat, cheese and eggs so it's not well designed for vegetarians and vegans. It would be suitable for paleo folks with some substitutions, and is not going to be a good fit for keto folks. Color photos are provided for about half of the recipes. Nutritional information is provided, which I appreciate.

There are 8 weeks of meals here, I believe, and each one gives you a shopping list and then detailed instructions to prep for the week all at once. That always seemed like more work for me and the meal prep instructions seemed a little overwhelming, but if you want to cook this way then this will be a good guide. I cook from scratch for a big family but I do a sort of hybrid meal prep -- I tend to cook big batches of staples (black beans, cauliflower rice, whatever) anytime I need them so I have them later in the week for other recipes. That works well for me rather than spending a day doing big prep like this. I also cook by the seasons and by what's in the garden or that we get a bounty of, so it doesn't work for me to cook from shopping lists like this. My husband and 20 year old brought me home a huge bag of beautiful oyster mushrooms from their hike today, for instance, so it's oyster mushrooms for us tonight. :) I realize this is not how most folks live these days though, and for most modern cooks who want to do big batch cooking this will be a very helpful guide.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

Loved it! Great meal prep idea book! Book has such wonderful recipes and favor a few Mexican prep meals. Gorgeous pictures and a lovely set up for plenty of meal prep ideas!

What did I like? The recipes are really what caught my eye... not only do they boast huge flavor but the pictures are gorgeous! From Carne Asadas to white chicken chili....your taste buds will love you for this. The meal prep idea for me always feels daunting but with such gorgeous looking meals made easily in an instant pot...I’m put at ease with easy to follow directions.

Would I recommend or buy? I would love a paper copy of this book. You can make all these meals without an instant pot but it’s nice to have the directions to refer to. This book has a combined idea of instant pot with meal prep and author makes both look very easy. Great idea and lovely book. Five stars!

I received an ARC to read and voluntarily left a review.
