"Revenge of the Sluts" by Natalie Walton presents a contemporary story with an intriguing premise, but falls a bit short in its execution. While the characters are diverse and multi-dimensional, their development feels somewhat superficial, lacking the depth needed to fully engage readers. The atmosphere and setting are adequately portrayed, but fail to evoke a strong sense of place or immersion in the narrative. Walton's writing style is accessible, but lacks the sophistication and nuance needed to elevate the plot beyond its surface-level exploration of revenge and social dynamics. This may just be a result of it being a Young Adult novel, thereby lacking a bit of the complexity of an adult novel.

The plot of "Revenge of the Sluts" unfolds with a mix of intrigue and predictability, with twists and turns that feel contrived at times. While the logic behind the characters' actions is generally sound, the relationships between them lack authenticity, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the novel. While the story touches on themes of cultural diversity and social justice, it does so in a superficial manner that feels disconnected from the characters' experiences and motivations. Overall, "Revenge of the Sluts" does offer an enjoyable reading experience that may appeal to fans of contemporary fiction, but fails to leave a lasting impression.

I love that the topic of revenge porn was tackled in this YA book. This was fast paced and I love how the group of girls came together. I always love a good friendship and self empowering story and this definitely delivered.

I loved this book!
It was so entertaing and addicting!

This is a school drama that follows 7 girls whose private photos have been sent to everyone at school.
This book infact shows the effects of Revenge Porn, how the victims are treated and what people think of them, but also how they and their families dead with it.

The photos were sent via email from "Eros" and the school journalist, Eden, is trying to discover who he really is. Unfortunately I feel like she didn't do very much and I liked other characters better.

I loved reading about girls standing up together! I had never read something about revenge porn before and I'm glad I did.

I loved the story, the world building and meeting the different characters. I felt completely immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading it.

This story had really important themes and dealt with issues that face a lot of young people in school in this digital age. The writing was well done and the characters were diverse. It was an enjoyable read for me, but as I think I wasn't quite the demographic, it didn't completely blow me away.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I expected more, but it was entertaining enough. I thought it’d be a feminist tale of sexual freedom for teen girls, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. Maybe if I was younger I would’ve liked it better.

I liked this, and it had an interesting ending, but it didn't add a ton to the conversation. Our main character just kind of followed the story and didn't do much, other people moved the story and she felt as passive as the reader.

This book has such a promising premise, but it fell a little flat for me. The book was much more about the student newspaper covering the revenge porn scandal than it was about the scandal and the girls revenge which disappointed me.
It's still a well written book for young adults and I liked the characters of Eden and Sloane. But it was a bit difficult to differentiate between the other members of the slut squad.
I would have liked to have known more about the slut squad and have it more empowering. It all got a little slow and repetitive just going over the newspaper stuff all the time. And I hated the term nudegate.

This was such a great book! I was prepared to be infuriated, because the idea of this group of girls having their intimate photos shared on the internet-and the various responses to that-there was bound to be awful fallouts. And boy, where they!

The fact that revenge porn isn't a criminal offence everywhere, at least in this book, and possibly in real life, is terrible. The laws have to keep current with times, and technology has sprung forth a multitude of new ways that the law needs to keep accountable.

The way that the Slut Squad banded together, was really great. And I loved the conversation about how guys treat their encounters with girls as social currency, as they benefited the guy and to be a possession to be bragged about, and not that they mutually agreed to have this experience.

Who the culprit was, and why they did it, oh, that was not cool. The reason why this all happened could've been avoided, were it not for the entitled attitudes. But oh, was it satisfying to watch them be taken down! And that there were some consequences for how badly some people reacted, though not all of them, and not to the extent that they deserved.

I had a really great time reading this book, and I can't wait to read more by Natalie Walton!

A little boring. A little gross. The overall story is definitely something that happens and more teens need to be made aware. The writing was really good. The story flowed and it was a super fast read which is probably the only reason I didn't DNF the book.

The story has been amazing from beginning to end, I've been so hooked that in a couple of days I finished reading it. And this was not only because of Natalie Walton's writing, which is super easy to understand and makes the reading more enjoyable, but also because of the plot twists and the intrigue that the whole "who is the guilty" generates. I was delighted to see how a very young target audience has been told about a problem that is quite serious and difficult to control, such as the dissemination of intimate photos without consent, which is often accompanied by sextortion; in other words, being threatened with sending intimate photos if you don't do what the aggressor wants you to do. I think it is very necessary to talk about these issues and Natalie Walton has done it tenfold. With a protagonist involved not for the sake of generating clicks to the articles she publishes, but with the intention of helping and empathising with the victims. It has been nice to see Eden's perspective and how she has always tried to put the microphone in the mouths of those who experience it first hand instead of speaking for them. And above all, it was nice to learn about the history of the Slut Squad.

I, sadly, did not like this book. Nothing to do with the author, it was just not the book for me. I apologize for taking so long in writing this review.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

A book with interesting and complicated characters, which addresses controversial issues from a feminist approach, which in my opinion, seemed very well run. However, at times the pace of the story slowed and I lamented this inertia for what seemed like endless pages... I don't want to call it "boring", but sometimes: yes, it was.
It's a good book, but not one of my favorites.

This book covers an important topic, however overall it left me underwhelmed. Revenge of the Sluts is about revenge porn, a scandal called "Nudegate", in a high school and the sensitive topics were covered well. It was important to me that revenge porn, slut-shaming, bullying, etc. were discussed in a feminist way, and I think the author did a good job overall. However, I didn't enjoy the writing as a whole and the main character, Eden, was too flat. I didn't feel as connected to the other characters and I think swapping the point-of-view between Eden and Sloane would have added to the depth of the story and made the reader feel more connected to the characters. Overall it was an okay book that I recommend mainly based on the subject matter and the importance of discussing sexuality, revenge porn, and slut-shaming.

This was a thought-provoking book that handled some sensitive topics. The characters were interesting and diverse and I found myself wanting to know what happened next so I kept reading. However, it wasn't a favorite.

Found this book to drag too much with sometimes nothing happening for pages. Made for a very dense and clunky read, which wasn't even redeemed by the main character who was just there was a vehicle to show time happening throughout. Sadly, did not find this readable let alone engaging

I think this should be a must read in high school. It is important to talk about slut-shaming and revenge porn. This topics are discussed with a lot of thought while still the perfect tone for a YA.

Oh how I loved the premise of this book. Unfortunately the premise was much better than the actual execution. With a stronger main character who wasn't more distracted by herself than her investigation this really could have been incredible.

I would rate this book 3.75 out of 5 stars.

I love a YA novel that empowers girls/women.

If I had one overall complaint it was that a lot of the dialogue and interactions between characters didn't feel entirely genuine and I wish the main character's Korean heritage had been expanded on a little more, however, the novel had such a great message that I could overlook most issues.

Definitely recommend checking out.
