I love Lynette Eason books and Active Defense was no exception. Lynette manages to write unforgettable characters who get into unimaginable difficulties. How the characters get out of their scrapes is always entertaining.

In Active Defense, Heather Fontaine is a field surgeon in Afghanistan who saw plenty of action. When she returns home, she finds safety there as elusive as on the battlefield. Someone has been in her house, completely canceling her sense of security.

In the meantime, Heather is indeed being watched--by Travis Walker--who has been surreptitiously watching her for weeks, ever since she returned. He's the owner of his own security agency, and when they team up, they have to figure out who wants Heather dead before it's too late.

Of course, Heather and Travis end up together--that's one of the hallmarks of an Eason book, but how they get there is the fun of the reading in addition to trying to figure out the bad guys before the end of the book.

Active Defense by Lynette Eason is book 3 in the Danger Never Sleeps Series. Heather is a surgeon dealing with trauma she experienced in her military service. But soon that trauma resurfaces as someone is clearly out to get her and hurt her. I thought this book was well written and kept you guessing throughout. I did not suspect the person that was ultimately to blame, which made the book even more fun. Heather's personality drove me a little crazy, especially in the beginning when she went into hiding and did not tell anyone. Other than that, I loved every part of this book. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Active Defense by Lynette Eason is a book that is a page turner. Dr. Heather Fontaine has recently returned from Kabul, Afghanistan to be a surgeon in Greenville, South Carolina. Heather has several close friends and Gina has just returned from Afghanistan and there is a get-together to welcome her home at Brooke’s house. However, in the four months since Heather has been home, she has noticed that she has a stalker. As she readies to leave her SUV at Brooke’s house, she sees the stalker and runs after him. Another guest for the get-together, Travis, sees her running and tries to catch her but only when he catches up to her, she turns and gives him her fist.
Heather immediately regretted her action and what she did to her friend. As they join the get-together, they try to play off that anything had happened outside the venue but that was only the beginning. When Heather gets back to her house, she notices things are not how she had left them. She becomes more frightened.
As the story unfolds, it becomes more and more intense as Heather goes into hiding and her friends use their skills to find her and to help her solve the mystery of why she is being pursued.
This is the third book in a series Danger Never Sleeps. This is a book that can be read without reading the other two books. I highly recommend this author and this book of Active Defense.

Lynette Eason delivers again as Active Defense, the third book in the Danger Never Sleeps series, delves into survivor’s guilt and abuse. Particularly gripping, nothing is what it seems, as you are left on the edge of your seat wondering whether love or death with find Heather and Travis first! It was wonderful revisiting with this close knit group of veterans who have been followed home by the unrest in Afghanistan, yet still hold firm to their beliefs and keep fighting the good fight no matter whose soil their on!

Oh wow, this book was a thrill a minute and my heart rate was definitely elevated during the whole time I was reading this!

Heather has a stalker, she thinks, but she grew up not depending on anyone so it is hard for her friends to help her. However, Travis really likes her and since he does security for a living, he does his best to help her out. He introduces her to his family, who are salt-of-the-earth people living a pretty special life out on a ranch.

The whole situation with the stalker escalates and Heather is in physical danger more than once. The baddie is eventually unearthed - prepare for a shock!

There are such lovely characters in this book. Heather has a group of really nice friends and she meets a young man along the way who proves that he has a big heart too, despite his rocky start in life.

All in all, this is one of those books where you wonder how it is ever going to come good.....and if your heart will be in one piece if it does.

5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Revell.

Active Defense is action-packed from page one to the last. Somehow, Eason manages to consistently write thrillers with unpredictable endings - a feat in a world where it feels like we’ve watched, seen and heard everything. I’ve read 2 of the books in this series and not guessed what was really going on until the end.

I also really enjoyed the ‘ensemble cast’ of characters - the relationships being forged as well as the character development in each story.

This book gets 4 stars from me, and I look forward to the rest of the series. Thanks to Revell and Ms. Eason for a complimentary copy via NetGalley. These opinions are mine.

Active Defense by Lynette Eason is a thrilling contemporary Christian crime suspense. It is the third book in the Danger Never Sleeps series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Once more I enjoyed catching up with familiar faces – a group of Afghanistan veterans who support each other through life. They have shared memories and shared traumas.
The atmosphere is tense as somebody is pulling the strings to attempt a kidnap. The reader is caught up in the action as we try to work out who the perpetrator is. There is naturally the theme of trust.
The literary device of pathetic fallacy is used as the weather often sets the mood for the action.
Some of the characters have had abusive childhoods. They fear repeating the pattern of their fathers as they grow and so they deliberately choose a different path to walk. Emotional growth is stunted as they fear opening themselves up to hurt.
We witness the power of family, friends and love to heal the broken. In contrast we see how life has twisted and distorted some.
Active Defense was a thrilling read. I clung on as I experienced a roller coaster of a read. I am loving this Danger Never Sleeps series and cannot wait for book four.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Books written by Lynette Eason are a guaranteed reading marathon! As with the previous two books, once you start you can't put it down. Active Defense is the third book in the Danger Never Sleeps series. The suspense and action will keep you on your toes from the opening scenes to the ending chapter. From kidnapping to murder, you don't know what is around the next corner (page). It has romance sprinkled in but not overwhelming. This series of books focuses on a group of independent, courageous, strong women. They don't need to be read in order, but I highly recommend it so you will be familiar with the characters. If you like Dee Henderson, Irene Hannon or Susan May Warren, then you will enjoy the Danger Never Sleeps series.

I am reviewing a copy of Active Defense through Revell and Netgalley:

Heather Fontaine is used to life and death situations as a former field surgeon in Afghanistan. She did not expect the life and death situations to follow her home though. After returning home from a party, Heather finds that someone has broken into her house, and threatened her friends--she assumes it is the stalker who has been following her and creeping her out. She hopes that leaving the city for a small town to hide out will give her a piece of mind. But trouble followed her even to her small town hideout.

Thankfully, a stalker wasn’t the only one watching Heather, Travis Walker has been secretly watching out for her for weeks. He is the owner of his own security agency so watching people is what he does. Together, Travis and Heather must figure out who wants her dead-and why-before it's too late.

Active Defense is a powerful Christian Romance, one that in my opinion is deserving of five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Another excellent suspense novel by a perennial favorite of mine. I had a little difficulty getting into the story until the kidnapping and then everything was full speed from there! I had a hard time knowing for sure who the bad guy was but I guessed it around halfway. One of my favorite parts was the Ryker subplot...he easily stole my heart from the first time he entered the scene.

Can’t wait for #4!

Thanks to the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required. Review is based on a final copy paperback.

ACTION PACKED!!! WOW! Lynette Eason sure knows how to write a suspense novel! There was so much going on in this book! And just when you thought you things were about to slow down, something else would happen! What a great read!

Oh. My. Goodness.

Just when I think Lynette Eason's books can't possibly get any better, Active Defense comes along! I was glued to this book from the very first page and loved every moment of it. Generally, I can figure out the who-dun-it part of a book pretty quickly, but I'll be the first to admit this one kept me guessing right up until the end--and then BAM!--completely shocked me.

Former field surgeon, Heather Fontaine is home from Afghanistan, but her past won't let her go. When a stalker situation appears to escalate, the only thing she can do is run--and hope her friends are safe. Thankfully, her friends--especially Travis Walker, security agent--love her enough to look for her, and for the answers she needs. Who has a vendetta against Heather? Will they find him (or her?) before it's too late? Can they find love in the midst of chaos and danger?

Fans of romantic Christian suspense: you will not want to miss this one! Active Defense is full to the brim with nail-biting suspense, heart-pounding danger, and undying love.

Active Defense by Lynette Eason is book three in the Danger Never Sleeps series. This is a great story that can also be read as a stand alone story. Heather is back home after a tour in Afghanistan, but continues to struggle with a suicide bombing that took place at the hospital in Afghanistan. If that isn’t bad enough she has a stalker and now that she has gone into hiding, attacks on her life get worse.

Travis is a friend and owner of a security company. When he hears of her disappearance, he tracks her down and keeps an eye on her. But things are so much worse than even he can handle and other friends are called into help.

This is a great Christian suspense story with strong characters who care for others. The story is fast paced and the ending was not expected. I especially like how Heather is able to reach out to Ryker, a young man who is being abused by his father. I like the family aspect of the story with going to Travis’s family to keep Heather and Ryker safe as well as how he steps in to help Ryker. There is a fair amount of violence as well as topics such as abuse and murder in this story.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Revell Publishing through NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC for an honest review.

This is another great book from Lynette Eason. The characters are interesting and the setting is both in the war in Afghanistan and in peace in America, well peaceful until a killer comes after Heather. The author keeps you guessing with the twists and turns of the story. You may think you have it figured out only to be surprised in the end. This is the third book in the series, but is a stand alone story. I've read the first two and look forward to the fourth.

I'm loving Eason's work these days. Super gripping and hard to put down! This whole series has been great so far and I can't wait for the wrap up in book 4!

I received this book via NetGalley, but the opinions above are my own!

Heather thinks she has left everything behind when she goes out of town, but it seems as though trouble followed her there. She realizes that she has stalker, but didn't think that he had followed her when she left town. Fortunately she has an ally in Travis. Travis is used to situations like the one Heather has and knows how to work around it. Together they put their heads together to try and figure out just who is going after her and how to stop them.

I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

This is the only book I've read in this series. And truthfully I'm not sure if I've ever read one of Lynette Eason's books before. Lately all the suspense books I've read have ramped up the action to a fever pitch. But I did enjoy this story. There is just enough suspense and action but not too much to send me into such a nervous state that I can't enjoy the book. I thought it was written so that there were equal parts suspense, romance and mystery. And this is hard to accomplish. I enjoyed the story and will seek out Ms. Eason's books in the future.

Thank you to Revell for allowing me to read and review this book.

**TW**
This series contains details of trafficking, drugs, death, bombings, suicides, PTSD, stalking, etc. If a sensitive reader, I advise you not to read these books.

Active Defense follows Heather Fontaine, a former field surgeon in Afghanistan who's troubles follow her home. She has a 'watcher' and doesn't exactly feel safe, not even in her own home. She's wanted dead, but why?

Active Defense is book 3 in a series but can very easily be read as a standalone. These books are super easy to get into and each book follows a different character.

The mix of romance and tension in this series just has me swooning! I love it!

Meeting Travis in Book 2, we didn't know too much about him. In this book, though, we learn more of his life, his feelings and his troubles.
Same goes for Heather.

One thing I just can't hate about these books is how each character will not truly admit how they feel until near death or near the end. It's just addictive!!

I truly admire Lynette Eason's books and will definitely be reading some of her other works sometime soon!
Eason's writing is just so wrapped in suspense and tension that you are just left in shock at the end of the book.
I would so highly recommend this series, this book, to all!!

Wow! What a fantastic edition of Lynette Eason's energized Danger Never Sleeps series. Featuring Heather Fontaine and Travis Walker, readers are introduced to a collection of friends who will continue through future books. The group includes former military, medical, law enforcement and private security with a strong bond and focus on helpful response and integrity. This promises to be an excellent multi-book experience, through Active Defense and a sample of the next edition.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
