I had a hard time getting into the first half of the book, it was dragging.
It ended up being just okay in my opinion.
Geared more for teens and not adults.
The book did show to never give up and keep moving forward.

I'm torn how to review this book. When I selected to read it the genre it was being advertised under was a Christian Psychological Thriller. So while I appreciate it is going for a little more wholesome and clean feel the characters really didn't have a lot of depth to them that you would expect from a Psychological Thriller, so it was quite hard for me to become emotionally invested in the story.

I would like to thank netgalley and the author for the free copies in exchange for an honest review

Well written psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.

First off, I didn't realize that this was kind of a YA book. So that was a bit of a surprise. This book was a slow start for me and never really picked up the pace. I will say that parts of it were so scary that I realized I should have read it in the daylight, because I kept hearing noises in my house!

Story Notes

A good thriller with plenty of action, tension and suspense. Raylee was a great character and I loved watching her go from hopeless to confident in herself. While all the tragedy surrounding her was terrible, it did build her into a better and stronger person. The elements of faith and the crisis of faith that Raylee faced made the story more real and gave it depth. I wish Paul had been given a bit more page time and that the romance between them would have been developed more as this part of the book was a little lacking. My only two other issues with this story were that there were some cuss words included that were not necessary and that the story was a bit rushed. If it had been given a little more page time, I think I would have liked it better. I will still recommend this story as a good read as it was well plotted and fairly well fleshed out.

In the book Intent: Deadly Secrets, author Krista Wagner writes about Raylee, a young lady whose life seems to be going nowhere. Raylee is working for her aunt and living at home and has just been expelled from college. What else could go wrong? How about not knowing who to trust?
This is a good roller coaster ride of a book. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie with deep character development but enough action and intrigue to keep you interested. I would highly recommend this book. I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is more of a YA book. It was very well written but aimed at teens and up. I think many people will like this book.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. I found the first half of the book a little slow, but the second half made up for it, as it was pretty fast-paced and came to a quick resolution. Raylee spends a lot of time at the beginning of the book whining about how she thought she would be doing more with her life than she is doing. She is completely unsatisfied with anything, except maybe her friendship with her best friend. She is so caught up in self-pity that she forgets her own birthday. After that she experiences several tragedies that would rock anyone's world, but she bounces back pretty quickly, relatively speaking, only to end up in danger and then facing a huge betrayal. Raylee shows exactly what she is made of once these things happen, and she really seems to change her perspective about life, realizing what is important. I would recommend this book to those who love physiological thrillers. As a warning since this book is marked "Christian" fiction, there is a little bit of language toward the end. That and the slow start is why I am giving this book a 3/5.

“Intent: Deadly Secrets” by Krista Wagner is a light psychological thriller for young adults. To me, this was written more for a teenage/young adult level. It was very predictable to me. But I believe a young person may enjoy this book.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Kaylee Johnson was a 21 year old who felt that working at her Aunts' hamburger joint was a dead-end job. Kaylee was going to college to improve her life, but that ended when she got a letter of rejection from the college.
Kaylee had never liked thunderstorms, and she was apprehensive as she went out to her car, she felt like someone was following her and watching her.
That night her parents celebrated her birthday and gave her a gold necklace.
Then her life changed, a person who taunted her in high school, Crystal, was friendly towards her, and a boy she used to like, Billy Thurman, talked to her and asked her to call him and hang out.
Her other friend, Paul, called with some good news, so she invited him over to celebrate.
Then her world fell apart the next day, she and Paul were waiting for her parents when they got a call from her Aunt Kim, her parents had been killed in a car accident when a truck hit them. Kaylee went with Paul to the scene and her parents suffered facial injuries and the car had white streaks on it.
Kaylee started hanging out with Billy - he taught her to shoot - a skill that would change her life...

I’m truly sorry to say that there is really nothing good to say about this book. It didn’t flow well, it seemed like something someone would write in high school.

INTENT:DEADLY SECRETS by KRISTA WAGNER is a psychological thriller set in the nineties in the small town of Silver Canyon where we find Raylee Johnson, a pastor's daughter, being haunted by a feeling of impending evil which she cannot explain. With the horror of her parents' death, she has built a wall around herself that even her best friend, Paul McCoy, cannot penetrate. She is also angry with God. when billy Thurman, the boy she had a crush on in high school, comes back into her life, she falls for his charm and tells him things about herself that she has never told anyone else.
I do not want to tell you any more for fear of spoiling the read for you, excepting to say that it is an exciting, nail biting read, where we literally see the war between good and evil playing out in the story. There is also a really good Christian message of hope and restoration, with the author using Bible verses in just the right places.
I highly recommend Intent:Deadly Secrets to anyone who enjoys a really good thriller.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from BooksGoSocial. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
