A Game of Cones was an adorable and fun sequel to A Deadly Inside Scoop! I love Win and the diverse cast of characters that surround her and her amazing ice cream parlor. Once again, Win is caught up in a mystery, but this time one of her good friends is the top suspect. She does not want to be involved in the investigation, but gets pulled in because she knows her friend is innocent. And once again, she saves the day! I adore this series!

I didn't read the first book in this series, so maybe my review is bias in that regard. This book is an average cozy mystery read, but some of the dialogue among characters was annoying and I found myself clicking through the pages quickly on my Kindle. I can definitely see people who would love this book though, even though it wasn't for me!

This author and this series has so much potential. But this book was very repetitive and the mystery was weak. I still love Win and her family and all the descriptions of ice cream. But the sleuthing was not good. They didn’t even really solve the mystery …they just kind of fell into the solution accidentally…that ending was not good.
Good writing. Poor editing and poor conclusion.

The second book in the Ice Cream Parlor Mystery series is just as good as the first one, if not better. This time around Win gets entangled in the murder of a real estate developer intent on building a mall in Chagrin Falls. And she has to try to clear her friend's name while running her family's ice cream shop. Abby Collette has a wonderful knack for vivid descriptions of characters and setting, and it's nice that there's such an emphasis on family and friendship, in addition to the actual mystery.

A Game of Cones is a charming cozy mystery and I quite enjoyed the first in the series however this one is a bit of a miss for me. The characters are likeable and the mystery is a typical cozy mystery story however there was a bit too much focus on the previous novel, which I read so I didn't need so much recall. At the half way point I wasn't super invested but the mystery picked up and peaked my interest.

I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first! I liked that we got to meet a friend of Wyn’s from the city and that we got to see more of Ria and Maisie! I felt this story line was a little more engaging for me and I’m looking forward to checking out the next installment in this cozy series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

The title and covers of this series are amazing! I read book 1 around the time it came out and really enjoyed it. Since reading book 1 I've noticed so many ice cream theme cozy series and I'm not positive but I think people realized Abby Collette is on to something here! Perfect series for spring and summer to be immersed in ice cream making!

Y’all know I’m a fan of cozy mysteries a la Murder She Wrote so I picked up Game of Cones. This is the second book in the Ice Cream Parlor Mysteries and centers around shop owner Bronwyn Crewse. While she is busy trying to keep her shop afloat a city slicker comes to town trying to buy everyone out. When the investor is found dead, Bronwyn and her friends set out to find the killer.

Unfortunately this one did not deliver for me. I love the comedic humor of cozy mysteries and this was lacking in Game of Cones. While I did appreciate all the talk of ice cream I could not get over the cheese factor.

Story line lacked interest and tried to keep reading but gave up after a while. I would not recommend this book. But would try reading another by the author.

Thanks to Netgalley, Berkeley Publishing and Abby Collette for this ARC . My first by this author, but not my first cozy mystery. The amateur sleuths were a bit confusing at times.. This book was a bit to long, maybe could have been shortened by at least 5 chapters, as it seemed to go on and on about the same things and people.. if it was real, I would have loved to go to their ice cream store though.

I enjoyed this book, however not as much as the first. I thought the first book was very unique but this one fell a tad flat for me. I will continue with the series as I do care for the cast.

It's another round of Win and Maisie's hijinks, ice cream, murder, and a return to Crewse Creamery in A Game of Cones!

It's the second book in An Ice Cream Parlor Mystery series. Win's family ice cream business, Crewse Creamery is doing pretty well. It's family drama as Win's Aunt Jack comes back to town. Then it's second scoops on the ice cream cone as a developer comes to town looking to build a mall, and one of Win's friends who comes to Chagrin Falls for a visit stumbles on their body. From there, Win plays detective and makes her own investigation with help.

The book's cover is also eye-catching as well, with a blue cover and two ice cream cones clashing. There's also more ice cream recipes in this book as well.

My thanks to Berkley & Penguin Random House Company for a copy of this book.
I'm really enjoying this series and I'm looking forward to more!
*My review is also on Goodreads*

A great follow up to the first book in this series. Bronwyn "Win" Crewse is doing swift business at her family's ice cream parlor and doesn't think she'll be affected too much by the proposed new mall in town. But when the mall developer's messenger is murdered following a meeting of business owners where the mall was announced, Win ends up sleuthing again (though still reluctantly). Maisie and her friend from New York (who stumbles on to the body and becomes a suspect) work together to figure out who the killer is before he (or she) has a chance to kill again.

I figured this one out just before the reveal, but the whole journey was satisfying. This latest twist on the traditional cozy mystery plot is fun, with whimsical characters and a whopper of a subplot that could throw Win's whole world off kilter.

Thank you to NetGalley for the electronic review copy. All opinions are my own. Still my favorite new series.

Rating: 5 stars

I was really excited to revisit the Crewse family and Chagrin Falls. Just like in the first book, Bronwyn's ice cream creations left my mouth watering. I adore how close the Crewse family is.

I love how Maisie is always ready to jump into detective work, she's quite the character but she becomes a bit too much and over zealous. She's very extra and jumps to conclusions so fast, Win is a good balance for her though as long as Maisie doesn't bring everyone down with her first.

There's a side plot with aunt Jack that I think didn't hit the way intended.

Overall, I really enjoy this series and am always ready for more.

I loved the first book in the Ice Cream Parlor mystery series, A Game of Cones, and I absolutely adored this one too!

I read and enjoyed the first book in the series. I did not enjoy this 2nd book as much. All the same characters are back with a few new ones and there is another murder in Chagrin Falls. For some reason Win and the gang decide to try and solve the crime. They run around town accusing everyone without any evidence. There were way too many characters and not all were necessary to the story. They did not solve the crime nor do any real investigation, even when the murderer was confessing they remained in the dark. I do like Win's family, the small town setting and the ice cream but I struggled to finish the book.

This is the 2nd installment in the Ice Cream Parlor mystery series. Bronwyn (Win) Crewse is back in Chagrin Falls and is managing the family ice cream parlor. She has made lots of improvements and is making all the ice cream herself just as her beloved Grandmother Kaye did. I did enjoy this book but I have to admit at times it is all over the place. A company has come to town and is buying up property to put up a mall on the town square and the merchants (or at least some) learn of this not from city hall but from a presentation at the merchants association which no one knows who put them on the agenda. The presenter Zeke is booed and says hey don’t shoot the messenger, so naturally that evening Zeke is shot dead. Since Win is in very early to make the ice cream she hears from her friend Maisie who she heard from someone else and then right after that the police arrive to ask questions. The detective is Liam Beverly who was in the last one and not sure how much of a role he really has and he is in just a few scenes. Win runs into her friend Rory who has arrived from New York to try and convince her to return to her job and she comes unannounced and with no prior contact from the company prior to this wanting her back. Maisie immediately wants to sleuth again and Win does not as she has no stake in the game but Rory is acting very odd and soon she becomes a suspect (don’t want to give away too much). I do enjoy the author’s writing but I think there are many things holding this back from being a 5 star rating. There are some wacky characters in this town and that adds to the delight but sometimes it goes too far and the characters need to have direction and get reined in. Win’s potential love interest O who comes in every day (the shop has been open at least 9 months) and Win still doesn’t figure out this guy likes her. I am looking forward to reading the next installment. It is a good enjoyable mystery and read.

A Game of Cones by Abby Collette

Bronwyn Crewse is delighted that Crewse Creamery, the vice cream shop her family has owned for decades, is restored tp its former glory band serving. sweet frozen.treats again. Good things she can’t see the tragedy ahead.

This was a light, cozy mystery. I enjoyed reading it. We’ll=Written and a nice plot. All of the characters were friendly.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

This is number 2 in the Ice Cream Parlor Mystery series (Crewse Creamery). I really wanted to like this one, was so hoping the weaknesses of the first entry would be bolstered up, but unfortunately they still run rampant. The setting in a small coastal tourist town is lovely, lots of quirky small town characters, and a refreshing set of African-American characters, Bronwyn Crewse and her family and best friends. In this story, plans for a mall to be built in the middle of the quaint shopping area are revealed sending the town into a tizzy and leaving one of the entrepreneurs dead. Win's best friend Rory is visiting from New York and acting suspicious, then looking like a prime suspect, so Win and her friend Maisie set out to find the real killer. Unfortunately, as in the first book, they have absolutely no idea where to start or what to do. These are smart career women who suddenly turn brainless. Maisie is borderline insane. If I was there, I probably wouldn't slap her upside the head, but she would be permanently encumbered by a good bit of duct tape. And lots of tranquilizers. Just when Win is getting somewhere in an interview, Maisie will sabotage it. You will want to scream. There is no thinking ahead about anything, planning out an investigation, what we will ask, who and why.... That they can function in their day jobs is not reasonable, it is a miracle. I'm afraid I will not be reading #3. What a shame.
