Emily Henry is a new must read author for me. Between Beach Read and PWMOV I am hooked! I loved these characters and cannot wait to read her next one!

★★ 3.5 stars! ★★

Oh man, do I have mixed feelings about Emily Henry's books. Her writing is strong and brilliant and elaborative, but I just don't seem to connect with her main characters—particularly the heroines. Both of the heroines in Beach Read and People We Meet suffer from this lackadaisical, self-sabotaging ennui and love self-sabotaging relationship behaviors.

Maybe it's my age, but I can't really relate and when I read characters like this, it leaves me feeling empty no matter how beautiful the writing is. Since this is my second book by Ms. Henry that I didn't love, maybe I need to recalibrate my expectations when it comes to her heroines.

As for the storyline of People We Meet, I had problems with the execution and reveal of the secret, the behavior of both main characters in regard to the friendship breakup, and again, the heroine was blind to what was right in front of her.

Sadly, this was just ok for me. I think I have one more try before I give up completely because the third time's a charm, right?

Loved this book! I wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't read Emily Henry's previous novel, Beach Read, but I based on the reviews I was excited to pick it up. I don't think I've encountered the "past friends to lovers" trope, but maybe it's one of my favorites now? I also really enjoyed the flashbacks and following the parallel experiences throughout the timelines. I would definitely recommend this book!

hank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. This is not the type of book I would choose based on the cover but I kept hearing about this one so I decided to give it a shot. And I am really glad that I did...I loved these two best friends from the moment I met them...I would hang around either of them by themselves but when you put them together, they are just so quirky and adorable...WE know that she loves him more than a best friend should but he has no clue apparently and she can't ever find the right time to tell him...I know that most best friends don't actually end up working as couples but in this case, I was really rooting for them. :) The timeline goes from past to present based on what trip the best friends are on and we know that something happened two years ago to split them up for awhile but we don't know what it is until towards the end of the book...Usually, that might drive me a bit crazy but it really worked in this case because I did not want to put it down the closer I got to two years ago....I would recommend this book to anyone who likes feel good love stories :)

Absolutely loved People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. It was a wonderful second chance romance, and it really made me want to travel. Poppy and Alex's friendship is so wonderful and it gets even better! I am now sold on Henry's books.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the free ebook copy in exchange of an honest review.

Despite the fact thay this took me a LONG while to read - reading slump, summer holidays - I really enjoyed it. It was a light and airy read, with a somewhat heavier undertone thay really worked well for me.

I loved Henry's first book, and after reading this one, she is an automatic "add to my to-read pile" for any future books. Poppy and Alex have nothing in common, yet their friendship has lasted well beyond their college days. They stay connected by going on vacation together each year, until one year they ruin everything. They don't speak for a couple of years, and then decide to try their annual vacation again. As this book flashes back and forth in time, we become more and more invested in seeing this friendship repaired.. and maybe even moved beyond the friend zone.

I absolutely adored Beach Read and went into this book with very high expectations and this book did not disappoint. Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and I adored Poppy and Alex and their friendship. I loved the flashbacks to their vacations together in the past and how it showed how their relationship and connection was built.

I could not put this book down and would highly recommend it to anyone.

A sweet and fun friends to lovers story. Poppy and Alex are such complex and well written characters with so much chemistry, I loved this friendship to more story. A sweet fun and meaningful journey to finding their way back together. So much forgiveness and happiness.

Alright Miss Henry. You're 2 for 2! I have really been digging the whole second chance romance trope I've been seeing around and had high hopes for this story after reading Henry's Beach Read and giving it 5 stars. I also am really loving the opposites attract trope lately too. This story follows two best friends, Poppy and Alex, who had a falling out of sorts. The story jumps between the present time where Poppy hopes to reconnect with Alex and get their friendship back (and maybe something more) and summers past. I truly love these two characters and their friendship. I love all the flashbacks to vacations in the past. The chemistry is CHEF'S KISS. UGH. So much was fit into this story and it was so so good. It felt like I knew these characters my whole life. Fantastic.

One of my favorite books of the year. Emily Henry can do no wrong!! Loved it just as much as Beach Read.

Meeting in college, Poppy and Alex become unlikely best friends. Due to geographic challenges, they are only able to meet up once a year on a trip they take together. We learn that something happened two years ago though that has kept them from speaking to each other since. As the story progresses, we get back story into previous trips as well as see how Poppy and Alex reunite as a new trip presents itself to them.

Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and after loving Beach Read, this was one of my most anticipated books of the year. And while I wouldn't say it was quite as good as Beach Read, I still really liked People We Meet on Vacation.

I was grabbed by the first page and immediately fell in love with our main characters. A bit of a wild heroine and a bookish hero is right up my alley. The story is told in present day with flashbacks. Flashbacks are tricky because sometimes they are not done well but Emily hit the mark with this one. They add a lot to the story and don't interfere with the pacing.

There is a lot of humor and a fair amount of angst as well since their friendship has been damaged. Watching them rebuild their friendship and become lovers is definitely one of the most satisfying things I've read. This book will likely be in my top reads of the year.

This, much like Beach Read before it, is exactly that. A perfect summer read. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. And the ideal of how the title works in to the narative was fantastic.

Honestly though, Poppy and Alex kinda make me a little depressed that I'm 34 and single so... I suppose if that's an issue for you, maybe skip this one, eh?

Emily Henry writes books that make you want to cry and throw them at the same time. 10/10. This is not a Henry book that you want to miss. Have the tissues on stand by.

Oh, I loved this book. Emily Henry is becoming an auto-buy author for me. What I loved most about this book is the depth. This is not a surface level rom-com, this is the story of a deep friendship that hits some major roadblocks, but is still full of love. Alex and Poppy are both such great characters with their own story arcs and the end... oof, the end is so good. I think "Beach Read" still ends up a smidge higher on my favorites list, but this one is definitely close behind!

Pick this one up if you love: love, travel, and humor!

Thanks to Netgalley and Berkley for an eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
