She is planning her wedding to Connor who is hard at work restoring the old house the bought for the two of them. When old boyfriend Ricky arrives in town with his mother he is determined to win Lucy back. Now with a murder to solve and an adopted dog that Charles, the Library Cat hates it's chaos at the library. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Oh I do enjoy this series. I like the whole idea of a huge lighthouse big enough to have a library but small enough for a tiny apartment. Lucy and Conner are busy looking for affordable housing to start their life together. I wonder if Charles will move or stay at the library? So why must a murder interfere with their happiness? And Lucy knew the guy so you know she is going to look for answers. The hunt for clues is on and marriage planning is set on the back burner. A delightful cozy mystery with interesting characters and side stories to enjoy. I liked the book.

A fun and enjoyable series. This book sets the stage for upcoming changes in the characters lives. A true cozy mystery that has many suspects and will keep readers guessing right to the end. Charles, the library cat, even gains a puppy friend in this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was a little surprised with this book as I expected that we would see more of Lucy and Connor's wedding preparations. That being said, Deadly Ever After was a very enjoyable book. The mystery is interesting, and there is a good choice of likely suspects, many of them quite unpleasant. While it was nice to have Lucy's mother present all along the story, Evangeline and Ricky were a pain. They were characters you love to hate. I was quite pleased with side stories involving returning characters, it makes the reader look forward to the next book. If, like me, you don't like Louise Jane, it's good that she is not too present in this book, although I have to admit that she didn't grate on my nerves as much as usual. I'm already looking forward to the next book.

Thanks to NetGalley for this prepub reader copy. I absolutely love this series and it just keeps getting better. Using the Bodie Lighthouse as the setting for a library on the Outer Banks and the home of Lucy the librarian makes for a dreamy - “wish I could live there” backdrop for each book’s murder. Familiar sites around the Outer Banks and Kill Devil Hills area adds to the charm. As this book end, changes seem to be in play for Lucy and then library staff, so I eagerly await the next book. This is for anyone who enjoys a beach read, murder mystery, quirky town characters, but also some adorable animal loving as there is a library cat and in this book, a feisty little ball of fluff dog to save the day.

Such a fun and interesting cozy mystery. I liked Lucy and Connor and all of their friends and family. It's fast-paced with lots of suspects and red herrings that kept me guessing whodunit. I missed some of the previous books so I plan to go back and check them out.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

Lucy Richardson and Connor McNeil have announced their engagement. Their friends throw a party at Coquina Beach, close to the Bodie Island Lighthouse Library. Unfortunately there are a couple of late, uninvited arrivals - Richard Eric Lewiston III, Lucy's former almost-fiancé and his overbearing mother Evangeline. It's clear that Evangeline wants Lucy to break her engagement with Connor and resume her almost engagement with Ricky.
If that's not enough, Ricky's father is murdered and there are several suspects.

Ms. Gates once again returns readers to Nags Head in the Outer Banks in this eighth installment of the Lighthouse Library mystery series, Deadly Ever After. I love this series and every book allows me to return to the Bodie Lighthouse library and visit with old friends.

The plot moves quickly as this murder mystery hits close to home for Lucy as the victim is her father's partner at the law firm in Boston. There are only a few suspects as Detective Sam Watson and Lucy sift through the clues. Ms. Gates' writing flows smoothly and the descriptions of the scenes is vivid and I feel like I am with Lucy and her friends on each page. The dramatic reveal had me on the edge of my seat. I can hardly wait to return to Nags Head and the Bodie Lighthouse Library.

This is the 8th book in A Lighthouse Library Mystery series. This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. I have followed and enjoyed this series since the first book. The author has created a charming world of books in a historic lighthouse on the Outer Banks. The environment is featured in this series as is the historic lighthouse library. The history of the library and the outer banks is a feature in each book that is delightful. The charcters are endearing and all perfectly written to the setting. I love this next in series and highly recommend this book and the entire series for your reading enjoyment.

Lucy Richardson and Connor McNeil have decided to finally take the leap of getting married. The book starts with shore side shower with all their friends and co workers. When a murder occurs of course Lucy is our go to sleuth as she is busy planning her wedding. Clues and red herrings abound as Lucy proceeds to find clues that both lead her astray and to the killer.

This is such a enjoyable series. From the library cat to the savvy protagnist , to the close friendships, to the Outer banks this is a must read cozy mystery series with all the right elements of a perfect cozy series.

This was such a satisfying book to read. I did figure out the apartment part of the ending fairly early, but the rest of the mystery had me guessing all the way through. I totally got into the book and by the time I was halfway into it, I was sweating the house problem as much as the characters in the book. This is definitely a good book for an evening reading session.

The lighthouse murder mystery series is a cozy crime serie, situated in and around a lighthouse-library. Lucy is librarian and finds herself time after time in trouble with dead bodys. She is a great help to detective Watson, but she brings herself in danger with her investigations.
Deadly ever after is part 8. Lucy and Conner are planning a wedding. When the engagement dinner is come to an end, a dead men is found behind the restaurant. It’s a business partner of the law firm of Lucy’s father in Boston. Why is the men here? And who is the killer?
It’s a nice story. Lucy has to deal with family and friends of the family, as in her ex-fiancé Ricky and his mother. They are suspects, because the dead men is there father/husband. Lucy is very busy with her work, the search for a new house tot live in with Connor, babysitting a little fluffy dog and also her investigation. It completes this story.
This book a nice read. Because is part 8, Lucy is now more familiar to the reader, and so are all the persons around her. The fact that in this story the novel of The hound of the Baskervilles is playing a big part, is a great extra.
Deadly ever after is a nice cozy read crime. With nice characters, old and new. Lucy and Conner make a great couple and the setting of The Lighthouse library is the best. Looking forward to part 9.

Deadly Ever After by Eva Gates is the 8th book in the Lighthouse Library Mystery series, and another great addition. Lucy Richardson is a librarian on the outer banks of North Caroline. The library is in a lighthouse, and Lucy lives above the library. I found this book to be awesome, the clever mystery and the romance with Lucy and Conner, yay they are engaged. I can't wait for the next book in the series, Ms. Gates never lets me down. I have never been to North Caroline, but the descriptions of the area and light house makes me want to travel there. I strongly recommend this book/series for any cozy mystery lovers.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

In the eighth Lighthouse Library Mystery, Lucy Richardson finds herself feeling awkward at her engagement celebration. Two uninvited guests show up: the son of her father’s law partner, Ricky, and his mother, Evangeline. Both want Lucy to return to Boston and marry Ricky. Lucy emphatically refuses.

A few days later, after an uncomfortable dinner for the group, police find Ricky’s father murdered at the restaurant’s back door. Between her amateur sleuthing and looking for a new house, Lucy babysits Evangeline’s dog because the inn refuses to let the dog stay with Evangeline.

While this is another well-done entry in this series, there are questions. Will there be a ninth book? Lucy is leaving her 4th-floor apartment in the Lighthouse Library and moving into a house with Connor. Where will Charlie, the library cat, live? There are changes announced for the library, but what do they mean for the series? Eva Gates writes an intricate mystery that weaves news about local characters with the developments that bring murder to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

This was the first book I read from this author, and won't be the last. Throughly enjoyed reading Deadly Ever After! Lucy was a wonderful character to know about! Even though I didn't read the previous books of the series, I had no trouble connecting to the characters at all. The twists and turns were very engaging and kept me hooked all the time while reading.

Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books for the e-ARC 🥰
