Another great wolf story from Terry Spear! The title is so good too. I just love it. I'm glad to be able to continue to read more of her books.

A spicy shifter romance that has action, romance, wolves, and lots of excitement as you would expect with a shifter romance. Two clans at war, a film, castles, wolves, Scotland, a secret crush make this a great read.

The Wolf Wore Plaid takes us back to the Highland Wolf series and to familiar faces, couples we’ve met before, and an enemy both Heather and Enrick will need to deal with. While you could read this on on its own and be entertained while enjoying yourself there are characters making appearances from earlier books in the series (which makes this a perfect catch up with old friends kind of story). I will always suggest reading a series from the beginning, but if you can’t do that then you’ll not be lost and will enjoy this romance full of shifters, danger, and some very stubborn soon-to-be mates.

A movie being filmed at the castle opens up an opportunity for an enemy clan/pack to cause some serious trouble for Enrick’s clan/pack. And these bad guys won’t hesitate to use anything or anyone to win their battles. Enrick has always felt something for Heather but he wasn’t fast enough to work on those feelings before she was to be mated to another man. His death a few years ago is still haunting (and endangering) Heather to this day. Now with the pack on high alert for danger during this filming, and everything connected to that project not going exactly as expected Enrick and Heather will find themselves drawn not only to each other as mates, but into further danger as the enemy gets bolder.

I loved Heather’s pie/bakeshop where the staff dresses in period costumes… or in their own older clothing as some of these shifters have been around for a very, very long time. It’s that kind of tongue-in-cheek, smiling with a knowing the truth kind of smirk that gave me more than a few chuckles during The Wolf Wore Plaid. We also get the chance to catch up a bit with some of the characters from the earlier stories. I had fun back in this world, and if you love a good Shifter/Paranormal Romance with a dash of danger, lots of sizzle, and don’t forget the Highlanders… then you’d have a blast here.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

What could possibly beat a sexy Scottish leader of a wolf pack? I can’t think of much to be honest and though this story is all about the Pack’s second-in-command he is a leader in his own way and watching him find and claim his mate and the antics they get up to was perfect. Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series has expanded into so many interesting and evolved storylines that sometimes it is difficult to keep up, but her Highland Wolves are definitely some of my favorites. This story involves a lot of Pack politics, as well as dealings with humans and most importantly the love between two long-time friends that blossoms when they least expected it. Enrick has watched the crazy MacNeil she-wolf antics for years, but he is too responsible to let her lead him astray even though he finds her entertaining at times. Now that she is underfoot all the time because of the movie filming in his Pack’s castle and using wolves from both of their Packs, Heather is becoming even more intriguing to both him and his Wolf . Heather has been in love with Enrick for years but she knows that he sees her as a nuisance and frivolous, but she doesn’t let it stop her from doing all she can to make this venture between their Packs a success. When enemies begin to attack and make their lives dangerous, Enrick and Heather must work together to stop their enemies as well as protect the humans—and protect their secrets from them. I loved seeing Heather and Enrick butting heads and expressing their passions as they found way to work together. Enrick had a bit of a stick up his butt in my opinion, but slowly he began to see the fun that Heather could bring to his life, leading him to be more rounded and approachable. He is alpha strong, sweet, and caring to Heather and his entire Pack, but I definitely liked him most in their private times when he allowed Heather to bring down his walls. Heather has been fighting against the label of troublemaker and irresponsible for years, trying to show Enrick and others that she is more than just a reckless wolf out for nonstop fun. She has a good head on her shoulder, though she values life being fun and interesting at the same time and having that balance is important to her. I enjoyed the sparks these two shot off one another from the very beginning, but the best times were just when they were playing with one another and enjoying their time together. I am looking forward to whatever comes next with these Highland wolves of in general with the overall Heart of the Wolf series. Terry Spear never lets me down!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks/Casablanca for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is book 6 in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. I enjoyed that it was in Scotland, and enjoyed the scenes in the bakery. I did not feel that there was great chemistry between Heather and Enrich. Enrich seemed super annoying. I liked the time travel movie idea but thought there was way to much detail. There were some slow parts. Overall not my favorite book, but I enjoy this author and will read more by her. I think most paranormal romance readers will enjoy. This one was a 3.5 for me.

Due to a problem with send to kindle I was unable to read the title. I realized this problem only now, but it seems there was no sychronization for the past two months.

This saddens me greatly as I wanted to read the title.

Heather McNeil used to be a wild child. Owner of the local medieval themed bakery and restaurant. Heather recently lost the man she was going to mate with until his temper got him killed. The McQuarrie and the McNeil packs of always been friendly and helped each other out. Enrick McQuarrie is second in command and takes his job seriously. These two have always had a crush on each other but never thought their personalities would mesh very well. When an enemy pack starts causing trouble during a movie shoot at the McQuarrie castle, will give Heather and Enrich a chance to see they’re more alike than they think. She just may get the mate of her dreams when The Wolf Wore Plaid.

Terry Spear takes you to the Highland of Scotland with her most recent Highland Wolf book, The Wolf Wore Plaid. We get reacquainted with the Highland Wolf series with this book that has two long time friends just maybe finding Happily Ever After with each other during the filming of a film. There’s an enemy to contend with when they try to stop filming. These two live long friends who’ve had crushes on each other forever will work together to stop the enemy. They’ll realize that they aren’t who they thought each other were as they spend more time together. Romance blooms between duties and shooting movie scenes. There are a few surprises and a confrontation. The Wolf Wore Plaid will have you falling in love with a feisty sometimes wild shewolf and a protective serious second in command hewolf whose lives have always been intertwined will become more so when their long held feeling and crushes on each other are acted upon to hopefully find a happily ever after. Terry Spear always delivers delightfully wonderfully stories that have a lot of romance and a little danger to bring the lovers together. The Wolf Wore Plaid a great story with wonderful characters that you won’t want to put down and may just need to reread several times.

While this book is the sixth installment of Terry Spear's Highland Wolf paranormal wolf shifter series, it can be read as a standalone. Reading the entire series will make this book into a far richer read, however. The Wolf Wore Plaid follows Heather and Enrick as they participate in a movie being filmed at the castle where Enrick lives. This is not the first time that a movie has been filmed at one of the clan's castles, so they know what filming will be like. The star of the film, Guy, looks startlingly like Enrick and there is confusion in the community as to who is who that is pretty entertaining. There are of course villains from another clan who are really mad that the movie isn't being filmed at their castle and go to great lengths to disrupt the filming. There is also a lovely, not so surprising twist involving Guy near the end

There are some moments that plod along as the tedious filming occurs. Those moments are not overwhelming, but weren't my favorites. The romance between Heather and Enrick begins as a slow burn and there is more story than steamy sex scenes - and those scenes are both well written and so much fun to read!

Like so many of Terry Spear's books, this one is also a fun, light, sexy read for those 18+

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Really 3.5 stars because this was an entertaining read but I honestly didn't connect much with the characters. They're likable, romantic, and charming as needed, but I could walk away from the story and not be bothered with how it continued.
The general plot is engrossing in that I liked seeing the juxtaposition of a Scottish wolf clan in the modern-day during a movie shot, yet it feels rushed. Weeks go by with a sentence mentioning basically that 'things happened.' There was a feeling of rushing through everything from the couple getting together to the resolution of tensions with another clan to the filming timeframe.
Overall, I enjoyed the read enough to not consider it a few lost hours, but I don't see myself recommending this to someone looking for some hot Scottish wolf action.

Happy thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the early read!

THE WOLF WORE PLAID is the sixth instalment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HIGHLAND WOLF paranormal, romance series. This is Highland wolf shifters Enrick MacQuarrie, and bakery /café owner Heather MacNeill’s story line. THE WOLF WORE PLAID can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Heather and Enrick) THE WOLF WORE PLAID follows the building romance and relationship between Highland wolf shifters Enrick MacQuarrie, and bakery /café owner Heather MacNeill. Heather MacNeill’s fiancé Timothy was killed two years earlier by two other wolf shifters for sins of the past, and Enrick MacQuarrie bided his time in an effort to let the shifter lassie grieve but the wolves who killed our heroine’s fiancé begin to hassle Heather MacNeill, and Enrick is all about protecting the she-wolf with whom he will fall in love. When a movie production rents out the MacQuarrie castle to film a time-travel romance, Enrick, Heather and their extended family find themselves a part of the crew but also find themselves the target of the wolves who had taken aim at our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Heather and Enrick, and the potential fall-out as the threats against Heather and Enrick become more dangerous and deadly.

The relationship between Heather and Enrick is slow to build. Enrick has always thought Heather would one day be his mate but she fell in love with another wolf, a wolf Enrick believed wasn’t good enough. Heather’s attraction to Enrick did not go unnoticed, and behind the scenes everyone was hoping for our couple to mate. Keeping Heather protected placed our couple together, and in the ensuing days and weeks, a mating would befall Enrick and Heather. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Heather’s cousin Cearnach MacNeill (A Highland Werewolf Wedding 3), Enrick’s brother Grant and his mate Colleen (Hero of a Highland Wolf 4); Heather’s friend and co-worker Lana Cameron; American actor Guy McNab Robert and Patrick Kilpatrick; alpha Paxton McKinley, Catherine McKinley, as well as several members of the crew and pack.

THE WOLF WORE PLAID is a story of family and relationships, betrayal and revenge. The premise is engaging and exciting; the romance is captivating ; the characters are energetic, colorful and charismatic.

This is book 6 in the Highland Wolf series and it can absolutely be read as a standalone. In this one we get Enrick MacQuarrie and Heather MacNeil's story. Enrick is the second in command for his clan. Work has always come first. Until a movie is being filmed at his castle and an enemy clan wants revenge for them not getting the movie contract. And now he is tasked with keeping Heather safe as well. Heather has had a crush on Enrick for as long as she can remember but she never thought he would want her because he considers her too wild. But when they are forced to spend time together, he learns that there is more to her than what he thought. And he learns that some play may be more important than work.

I really wanted to love this one. And while I didn't hate it, it definitely isn't a favorite for me. The writing itself is still great. The storyline definitely has promise. I just had a hard time with how judgmental Enrick comes across as. Their relationship is a slow build, with some of his thoughts about Heather just annoying me. And then you throw the movie in there with a new character thrown in, that completely threw me off. Especially when they make mention of looks so much. There was just a lot that kinda got on my nerves. But it wasn't absolutely horrible either. I liked the way they made their period dressing seem like a thing for the tourists. I liked how they did the battle scenes for the movie. And I liked some of the interactions between Heather and some of the secondary characters. It just wasn't great for me, which surprised me as I usually really like this author's books.

31% and throwing in the towel. This just isn't working for me. There was a lot of page time devoted to a step by step detailing of the filming process going on at the castle that's unnecessary to the plot and completely boring. Lots of clans, lots of characters and I'm having a hard time keeping them straight which is distracting. Lots of telling, lots of details, but nothing really drawing me into the story. But most importantly the romance lacks chemistry and doesn't pique my interest at all.

Ahhhhhhh this was just such a wonderful book and I just thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn’t want to put this book down. I just fell in love with this wonderful story and it’s wonderful characters. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.

Well you can't get any better than shifters with an accent. I loved getting to know Enrick, Heather and their pack. The discord with the other pack was obvious from the start and I couldn't believe some of the stuff they pulled.

Enrick and Heather shouldn't fit together so well because of how different they are, but it is exactly those differences that make them so good together. I like how their relationship progressed. The movie set made it all the more entertaining. Oh and the little surprise twist that I hope leads to a spin off book was great. Overall, completely enjoyed the book.

4/5.

The Wolf Wore Plaid
Terry Spear
Enrick and Heather
A time travel fantasy movie is being filmed at Enrick’s lupus garou ancestral castle and he and Heather are extras. They’ve know each other since childhood and both have had secret crushes on each other. It has been 2 years since Heather’s boyfriend was killed and Enrick is trying to determine if it is too early to ask her out. Meanwhile, rogue wolves from another pack are determined to ruin the film as revenge for what they see as Enrick’s clan stealing the filming from them. Can love flourish amongst the danger?
Terry Spear gives us another appealing and gratifying paranormal romance. In many ways it is an adorable read; the banter between the main characters is quite fun. It also has some passionate sexy bits and a bit of a thriller vibe. Fans of paranormals and books set in Scotland will enjoy this beautiful and entertaining tale.
Although part of a series it could easily be read as a stand-alone. I would recommend this book to my patrons.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Lots of action and building romance in this book set in Scotland with a clan of shifter wolves. Enrick really felt that Heather was too wild for him to mate but as they go along, he can see her and appreciate her.

Add to the building romance, a pack war with a neighboring pack who didn't like they lost the chance to have the film crew at their castle. There is never a dull moment as Enrick tries to keep everyone safe while rogue wolves keep attacking.

Secrets about the leading man, Guy, are revealed and make the story even more interesting! I enjoyed the book and will have to find the previous books that had some other couples highlighted and see more of their story!

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you.

This was such a fun and entertaining book! There's romance and intrigue. The story within a storyline added to the danger. This is not just about a wolf shifter finding a mate, so much more is going on that will keep readers amused.
