Entertaining and full of suspense, this book was an engaging read. The main character, Penny (Eve, Isabella, Chloe, Ruby), has what is commonly referred to as split personality or DID. She has multiple personalities within one body. This becomes more of a problem when she is accused of murder and isn’t sure if one of her “alters” did it. I enjoyed the description of DID and learning about it through the eyes of Penny. I didn’t know much about the diagnosis other than brief episodes of United States of Tara. There were parts that felt a bit expected and I was never blown away by a revelation, an indicator of a truly masterful mystery, but overall had a good time reading the book.

This was a very slow read for me. About two-thirds of the way in, I began skimming in order to get to the outcome. i won't be posting a review on line. Sadly, the book didn't create enough interest for me to even do that.

Another homerun by D.J. Palmer! Dark, intriguing, and twisty is how I would describe this book and throughout this story I felt a whole gamut of emotions from sadness to extreme anger. I wanted to dislike some of the characters for what they did but was only able to dislike their actions because of the the implied background of some of the characters. I did figure out the twist ending a little before the big reveal but it didn't ruin the story for me. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book thanks to the publisher and author and NetGalley!

Not sure if this was the best choice to read over the Christmas holiday, but it proved to be an intense, detailed read. A woman is brutally murdered and found in the scene is a young woman covered in blood. This young woman suffers from Dissociative identity disorder (DID) or what may erroneously be referred to as multiple personality disorder. Don’t worry, you’ll get a full explanation.
The story is told with multiple narrators, the young woman’s mother, her brother, and her doctor at the mental institution/prison where she’s being held while awaiting trial. We learn about the young woman’s history, her relationship with the victim, and meet her various personalities.
This is a well-crafted story, mainly taking place inside the mental institution, which is fitting for such a grim story. I actually learned quite about DID, and while I had theories about the ending of the story, I did not see that ending coming. With a few little nuggets thrown at us along the way, I was on a different track. Well done!

The Perfect Daughter is a medical thriller which keeps you guessing. Penny's character with DID is intriguing, and Dr. Mitch is an endearing doctor who is truly "one of the good guys," even though his own mental illness causes him to doubt that. I found myself in awe of Grace's motherly strength and instinct. She never gave up or backed down as she fought for her daughter's innocence. An absolutely excellent read I couldn't put down.

This was a really good book! It was a very exciting psychological thriller that had so many twists and turns! Every time I thought I had things figured out there was a new twist. I learned a lot about DID and was so interested by the psychological aspects of the story. I have enjoyed all of this author's books and look forward to reading more. I would definitely recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

“The Perfect Daughter” is an enthralling psychological thriller that pulled me in right from the very first page and held me captive right up until the very last. It’s the story of a fragile, teenage girl with mental health issues—unceremoniously arrested for murder—and her steadfast mother, who is determined to uncover the truth at all costs.
Boasting complex, multi-faceted characters and a fascinating, edgy premise, “The Perfect Daughter” is an absolute page-turner! It’s only the second book by D.J. Palmer that I have read, but it definitely won’t be my last!!

Thank you so much to the author, D.J. Palmer, the publishing company, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for this ARC for my honest review.
Starts off with a bang, and ends with a bang. Another winner from D.J. Palmer!!
The subject matter for this book, is D.I.D., what used to be called multiple personality disorder. Throughout the book, you can tell that the author really did great research on this subject, and this came through each page of this book.
I love, love, love anything that D.J. Palmer writes, and you will not be disappointed by reading this one.

The Perfect Daughter is a very interesting book which dealt with a subject that I have not encountered very often in novels, Dissociative Identity Disorder, more commonly know as Multiple Personality Disorder. Penny is a young woman who was adopted as a small child, after being abandoned in a park. She started showing signs of multiple personalities as a teenager. Her adoptive mother, Grace, has been trying to deal with these different personalities which has put a strain the whole family, in particular her two sons. Then, Penny is found with her dead biological mother, covered in her blood. She is charged with murder and immediately taken to a mental institution to await trial. Penny has no memory of the incident.
With the help of a sympathetic doctor at the hospital, Grace tries to uncover the truth of what happened to save her daughter. There are some very unexpected twists in this story and dramatic courtroom scenes.
I really enjoyed this book and are grateful to St. Martin's Press for the invitation to read the advance reader's copy. I highly recommend this book.

Wow!! What an incredibly great book! I read almost all of it in one day. I couldn't stay awake so I finished it the next morning. I couldn't put it down. It grabbed me from the start and never let go. So many times I thought I had it figured out but no, what a surprise ending. I loved the characters and the story. It was well researched and a really interesting read. I really love this author's books. You have to read this!

I have such mixed feelings about this book. Here are a collection of my feelings:
1. I though the twist was pleasantly unexpected, which is difficult to do with today's thrillers.
2. The middle of the story was a little bit slow, and it felt like the characters were having the exact same conversation 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 times, which got a little monotonous as the reader.
3. I typically enjoy stories told from multiple perspectives, but I struggled a bit with it here. Without titling the chapters or being clearer at the outset of each chapter, it sometimes took me a bit to figure out who's perspective I was reading. And to be honest, the entire perspective told by Jack seemed unnecessary and misplaced.
4. I wasn't really sure what Jack's film had to do with anything. It was an odd detail that never really developed.
5. At times, I felt like Grace was being a little overzealous about really small discoveries that she felt might change the course of the case. But to me as the reader, those discoveries were completely insignificant and their ability to impact the case was kind of a stretch.
5. I really enjoyed the concept of multiple personalities and the philosophical question about whether or not somebody should be held accountable to something one of their other personalities did or didn't do.
Overall, solid 3 star read. I think I'm in the minority here as others seem to have loved it so read it and decide for yourself.

This one is unexpected and has you reading every page to find out what is next. You can’t predict anything in this one. Scary to think that the daughter you chose to raise could have killed her biological mother. If you like thrillers, this one is for you!!!!

Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for the chance to read and review this book. Wow! This was a thriller right from the beginning! This story deals with so many issues-child abandonment, murder, multiple personality disorder and a mother/daughter relationship. The daughter, Penny, is caught with a knife in her hand and a dead body. This is the story of her mother, Grace, and the lengths she goes to to prove Penny is innocent. Things are not always what they seem, and the ending was a real shocker to me! Make sure you have some time to read when you start this book-it will keep you hooked and you will want to find out what is going on. I highly recommend if you like thrillers with a lot of twists and turns!

Fabulous ending, lots of twists and really highlights mental health issues. The book was a real attention grabber. I liked the characters and how they interacted. Well worth my time to read this one.

I enjoyed this one a lot! I love novels that have some aspect of mental health disorders and especially ones that handle them so tastefully and accurately, I really enjoyed the different personalities of the main character and how they go about trying to rouse another one to get the rest of the story out of her. This one is very quick paced and there is no lack of action happening at any given time. I was shocked by the different twists in this novel and by the ending! It definitely wasn't something that I saw coming and I loved that! Definitely recommend! I can't wait to see what others think of this one!
Out April 20th

Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read the Perfect Daughter by D Palmer.
What a great story about multiple personality disorder, how it affects a family and how it is viewed. There is so much to know and so much unknown. Written from a couple of perspectives, this novel is about a young girl abandoned by her mother in a park, another family finds this girl, they call her Penny and eventually adopt her. A murder happens that gets Penny into a lot of trouble and arrested, her personalities now have to tell the story, but they dont make it easy. Her mother and attorney now have to try and piece the events and actions of each personality together to figure out what has happened and who is guilty
This really is a great read, the further I got into the book, the harder time I had putting the book down
Well written, I recommend. I would read more books from this author

I didn’t love this one. There was something about the characters that I just couldn’t connect to. I am a fan of the writing style, though.

You can count on me to read anything that is centered around Dissociative Identity Disorder (aka Multiple Personality Disorder), and I think DJ Palmer researched, came, saw, conquered, and delivered!
I'm not even going to fumble around blurbing this one.
I found this to be a brilliant and thought-provoking read. Twists, turns and surprises around every corner in this one! It takes a spectacular amount of research and learning to write something like this, and for that, I commend DJ Palmer, but then to turn it into this.. WOW! Fun stuff!!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's for this ARC!! Cheers!

Another terrific read from DJ Palmer. With his patented blend of medical and technical details and a plot that leaves you guessing until the last few pages, The Perfect Daughter is a first rate thriller.that will leave you counting the days until his next book. Always different, always enthralling, Palmer never disappoints.

Twists and turns. Whose who?
Could your daughter be a murderer?
This book had the twists and turns I expected from A DJ Palmer book! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Another great read by this author.
A huge thank you to the
Author, Netgalley and St. Martin’s press for the opportunity to read this book !
