Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.

Ho-oh-oh-oh-oh-ly cow!
This book is brilliant, just brilliant.
Crammed full of secrets, surprises, twist and misdirection it just ramps and ramps and ramps to a spectacular conclusion.
I have always been a D.J. Palmer fan but this may be his best.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press for giving me a widget. It was my pleasure to write an honest review.

I loved The Perfect Daughter! I picked this book because I enjoyed The New Husband, also by D.J. Palmer. The book is about Penny's multiple personality disorder. Penny is accused of killing her birth mother and put into a psychiatric hospital. Penny was found in a park all alone as a young child and Grace finds her when she takes her son to the park to play. Grace has wanted a daughter and she helps nurse Penny back to health. Grace advocates and eventually brings Penny into their family through adoption.
Much of the book is about Penny and her personalities time in the psychiatric ward. Grace, her aunt Anne, her brothers, her lawyer, and psychiatrist Dr. Mitch all play a big part in this book. The book has bad guys that you clearly don't like but the main people are likable and I was invested in their stories. Grace spends most of her time trying to keep Penny out of prison for a murder she does not believe Penny committed.
The book does have secretes that are eventually revealed. The book is a stand alone book and does tie up the storyline in the end. I ended up being really interested in Dr. Mitch's relationship with his drug addicted son which was a side story that caught my attention.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #StMartinsPress for an advanced copy of #ThePerfectDaughter. I would also like to thank the author, #DJPalmer, for another five star book!

Multiple personalities, engaging characters, a strong plot... there was a lot to enjoy about this book. I liked the pacing of the book and the family angst felt like a realistic portrayal. This author has so much potential. My only downside was that some of the dialogue felt forced and it was all tied up too neatly. Strong book, just a few little tweaks and it would have been a five star read.

The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer is a superbly written psychological thriller. We get three alternating narrators (perspectives) from Grace, the mother; Jack, the brother; and Mitch, the doctor. A fourth narrator, Penny, gets limited time, even though this is her story (and Eve's and Chloe's and Ruby's and others?).
Penny, you see, has dissociative identity disorder (DID) and is accused of killing her birth mother. But which alter committed the crime? Or is she making up her disease because she's a pathological liar?
Palmer skillfully keeps the suspense building right up until the end. When the murderer is revealed, the reader feels the shock like Mitch feels the fist to the nose.
Fantastic book!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

DJ Palmer NEVER disappoints in his writing. What a fantastic book! Being a Mom, you can understand Grace's devotion to her daughter. She tries to understand her daughter's mental illness the best she can through all the tribulations of being a teenager's mother. The ending was a complete surprise! I had been suspecting someone completely different. Once again, an awesome book by a great author!

This was another interesting read from the author. A well written book filled with mystery and suspense and with a fun twist at the end. This is a book which I would recommend to others.

*Thank you to The Publisher, D.J.Palmer and Netgalley for an E-ARC of "The Perfect Daughter" in exchangefor an honest review * what I read was really amazing and fans of dn will love it. I personally couldnt continue this story because it was personally triggering for me.

D.J. Palmer, your books suck me in from the start. I had a hard time muddling through the very mundane DID information overload and explanations, but overall, this was a great read with a surprise ending. However, I did feel this very similarly mirrored Saving Meghan.

Loved the latest book by DJ Palmer! It is full of twists and turns and will definitely have you hooked from the first chapter. DJ Palmer never disappoints, and his latest might be my very favorite. Highly recommend for a thriller of a book you can't put down!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Four ⭐️
Finished reading another great offering from DJ Palmer and once again, the other demonstrates a mastery of understanding the subject matter; this time—DID, dissociative identity disorder. Again, it’s obvious careful research was conducted to understand the disorder including its controversies, subtleties and nuances.
A few years ago, I was fascinated by DID, also (formerly) known as multiple personality disorder. I did what I call a “brain crawl”—diving in to books, articles, documentaries and YouTube testimonials from people purporting to have DID. Especially with the latter two, I observed subtle changes in those who claim to have DID as they “switched” from one identity to another. Palmer depicted this interesting aspect to a T.
What a terrifying prospect: to have multiple—often competing—aspects to one’s own identity that are at odds with the others. Amnesia, time loss, and confusion are hallmarks of the disorder and Palmer captured the terror deftly.
Who has more cause to be concerned? Grace, the adoptive mother or Penny, the young woman split off from herself. Or is it herself at all? Did Penny commit then murder? Is she hiding something, covering herself in fantasy or are others hiding something from her?
Pick up a copy and discover the twisted truth.
Thanks to The publisher who sent a free copy in exchange for my unvarnished opinion.

WOW. What a masterful job by the author. A look at mental illness and multiple personalities from within the family. The villain was hidden from my sight until the end of the book. Devious and twisted personality masked as a helping hand. A second story of addiction gives a whole different perspective.

Y’all this one was definitely a thriller of a novel! Characters were amazing and the writing was excellent. It kept me hooked the whole time!

D.J. Palmer never disappoints! I have become one of hot top followers after the amazing Saving Meghan, and this wonderful new thriller is no exception. The storyline flowed seamlessly and the ending is literally to die for!

A good mystery where teenage Penny is charged with the horrific murder of her birth mother. Her adoptive family supports her and tries to help her lawyer and doctor find answers. The tricky part is that Penny has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and there is the possibility of interacting with the different personalities during each meeting. I learned a lot about DID in this book. A good amount of suspense.

Plus: I finished it, Minus: Way too long, and too much going on.
Started out interestingly enough but lost my interest about halfway through, The multiple personalities didn't seem believable or realistic. and the overall plot felt contrived. Best I can do is two stars, but can't recommend

First, this is a wonderfully written mystery. Second, if you are as affected as I am by reading about graphic animal cruelty, you may either want to prepare yourself before starting this book or forego it altogether. That said, only one episode of this cruelty occurs in the story.
The plot is quite novel: the birth mother of a teenager Penny Francone is found dead. The teen is still at the scene of the crime, covered with blood. To add another twist, this girl has been diagnosed with what we used to call multiple personality disorder. Did she kill her birth mother? Despite all the evidence, her mother Grace believes she is innocent.
Penny and her "alters" are sent to a forensic hospital to await trial. A kind, motivated psychiatrist works with her. Her attorney is attentive. Penny's adoptive mother works tirelessly, at times ignoring her own safety, in an effort to find information that might help her daughter.
If you're like me, you won't see the final twist coming.
I recommend this book, with the reservation noted above. I realized even at the time that some adults who hurt others start out by hurting animals, but the episode is extremely difficult to read.

I received this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy (ARC) through NetGalley. I received this copy free in exchange for my honest review.
Grace’s daughter Penny is in Edgewood, a facility for the criminally insane, awaiting her trial for murdering her Birth Mother Rachel. But Penny isn’t just Penny, she is Eve, Ruby and Chloe too. Who murdered Rachel, and is Penny really Disassociate Identity Disorder (DID) or as the head Edgewood doctor thinks Antisocial Personality Disorder, ie Penny is an expert liar.
This is the second DJ Palmer book I have read, and she is had become a favorite author. I love the twists and turns of her stories. The characters are all so engaging, and make you want to read about them. This was unputdownable for me. I found myself wanting to know the next twist throughout my day, and I couldn’t wait to read more, even if it was only 5 mins while my coffee brewed.

Review of Uncorrected Digital Galley
A little girl, abandoned in the park, changes everything for Grace and Arthur Francone and their sons, Jack and Ryan. The family adopted the child, now named Penny, but as she grew and her various personalities emerged, Grace and Arthur found themselves seeking psychiatric help for their daughter.
And now, the sixteen-year-old girl, accused of murdering her birth mother, is locked in the state psychiatric hospital. Discovered by the police at the scene of the crime, covered in the murdered woman’s blood and holding the murder weapon in her hand . . . there’s little doubt that Penny committed the heinous crime.
Grace is determined to understand, to find the truth of what happened to her daughter that night. Little does she know that the truth will bring hidden secrets to light and put everyone in jeopardy.
This intriguing look at dissociative identity disorder, explored in connection with a murder trial, is both compelling and eye-opening. Each alter [alternate personality] has a distinct temperament and mannerisms that let the reader know which one is currently in control . . . and why. The well-developed characters bring realism to the telling of the tale; Grace is the ultimate mother-protector, determined to defend her daughter. Her heartfelt faith in her daughter and her relentless pursuit of the truth is truly inspiring. She’s determined to understand, determined to find the answers . . . even if everyone else thinks she’s on a fool’s errand.
The twisting plot delivers surprise after surprise and keeps the pages turning in a book that’s difficult to set aside. Unexpected revelations help build the suspense and the shocking revelation near the end of the story is one that readers simply will not see coming. Don’t miss this one.
Highly recommended.
