This book was so much fun to read! The four aunts kept me laughing throughout the entire story. It's definitely silly in a great way and over-the-top, but I had a ball following the antics of Meddy and her wonderful family. And I loved the cultural aspects Included in the story.

This is a quick light read. I think it would appeal to a younger audience, I found it rather silly and simplistic. It could have been better edited.

Such a perfect book I felt like I was transferred to my tias house and having them help my fight all my battles. I truly adored this read.

I absolutely loved this comedic romp of a murder mystery. Sutanto has captured a perfect blend of genres to create something absolutely unique. This was arguably one of my favorite reads of 2020, and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Sutanto's future novels.

This book is so good. It’s hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing.

Throughout the book, I just couldn’t get over how much I was enjoying it. I don’t typically laugh out loud when I read and this book had me cackling!

At around 90% it did get odd and took a twist I was not prepared for. If I didn’t enjoy the majority of the book so much the twist would make me dock a half a star. I think the author got away from herself a bit. It’s still good though!

I need them to make it into a movie!

I had really high hopes for this one, as a murder mystery caper + romance + family saga is just about my idea of a perfect book. I think if this book had been longer and had more time to unfurl, it would have felt a bit stronger. As is, it is quick moving and engaging, but a bit superficial, particularly for the romance. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting, so I’m also a bit disappointed. The aunties are the strongest part of this book by far, though, so the title is very apt -- they really stole the show!

What happens when you mix 1 (accidental) murder with 2 thousand wedding guests, and then toss in a possible curse on 3 generations of an immigrant Chinese-Indonesian family?

You get 4 meddling Asian aunties coming to the rescue!

This is a fantastic book.
I laughed out loud- I audibly gasped.
The characters are fantastic and it begs the question of what I would do in this situation..

It hit all the points of romance, mystery and family shenanigan's.

Dial A for Aunties is a fast-paced mistake-driven novel. From the start, things go wrong and drive the characters to make haste decisions that only lead to more misgiving. With the high-speed pace of this novel, character development is left in the dust. This is a shame, I would have liked more development between Meddy and her ex. It seems highly unlikely that the resolution would have been so clean, the same with the relationships within the family. Making the characters have more depth would have given this book more weight.

I haven't read a murder mystery rom-com since Jed Had to Die by Tara Sivec, but this was so over-the-top fun, I may need to find more just like them! The aunties and their quirks and their unconditional love (so unconditional that they help with a dead body, no questions asked) were the best part, but the situations they found themselves in were hilarious.

If you liked the movie Weekend at Bernie's, you would love Dial A for Aunties! I can't wait for the return of the aunties in the next book.

I never thought a book about an accidental death would make my body shake with laughter the way Dial A Aunties did! Dial A Aunties were indeed the book that helped me ease back into finding joy in reading after a reading slump.

Dial A Aunties is about Meddelin Chan, who lives with her mother and is near her four aunties. They also run a family business - a family wedding business, so there’s never a day that goes by without being surrounded by her family. Unfortunately, right before the Chan family needs to pull off one of the biggest weddings (for a billionaire), Meddie accidentally kills her blind date. Instead of calling the police, Meddie turns to her mother and aunties for help, and all chaos breaks loose!

I will admit, it took me a bit to get into the book, mainly because it takes a while for Meddie and her family to figure out what to do with the body. And some parts, ok, most claims are outrageous, and you have to suspend disbelief. But, with the overstepping and loud yet well-meaning aunties, mentioning Chinese-Indonesian culture, and a love story with the theme of second chances, I couldn’t help but love this book. Go in knowing this book is not perfect, but also know it will make you laugh and, most importantly, appreciate your family, no matter how crazy they may be! There will be a film, and so so excited to see how it plays out. I was also appreciative of the author’s note at the beginning of the book.

3.5 stars

Ever since I read Finlay Donovan is Killing It back in February I have been trying to find other books that are similar. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me. (Maybe the bar is too high)

With that being said, this book is still loads of fun and quite funny! I adored the auntie banter and coming from an Asian mixed family, I totally related with them. And the DMing conversation at the beginning of the book!? Had me howling!

My biggest gripe is that the story started to feel repetitive. The entire plot felt like it was just the aunties moving a body around (which, don't get me wrong is funny, but got a little boring after a while). Also, I am fine with these dark comedies being far fetched, but this one was a tad extreme.

Overall this was quick and entertaining if you are looking for an over the top, funny read. Also, I heard Netflix picked this up for a movie adaptation! I am 100% on board for that!

DIAL A FOR AUNTIES is such a fun read! From the family drama to the humor to the accidental murder, there is nothing about this book that isn't fabulous. Sutanto's writing flows effortlessly as the story develops. And the characters! Can we just have a minute for all the people we meet in this book? Meddelin and her family leap off the page as they deal with everything going on. This is a great read.

Five stars for inventiveness in character and plot and for a humorous and entertaining book about a Chinese-Indonesian young woman who must fend off her "interfering" but loving aunts in order to find true love in her choice of career and love life. When Meddelin later becomes entangled in an accident that looks like a murder, the aunties come to the rescue to save their niece. Their antics carry the day.

No surprise that the book is slated to be made into a Netflix movie!

I was given a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is TOO FUN! Meddie accidentally kills her blind date but turns to her mother and her aunties for help. They decide to get rid of the body but have to do it in a hurry as they are catering/entertaining at a huge wedding in the morning. A BUNCH of mishaps later, this book will have you laughing. Lots of the plot is unreasonable but it's too fun to actually make you care. Can't wait for more escapades with the Aunties! #Netgalley #DialAforAunties

Dial A for Aunties was a fun, wild read!! I loved the family aspect of the storyline and really enjoyed the look into the Indonesian and Chinese cultures. The Aunties were quite entertaining!! I will say the storyline was a bit over the top at times, but I still found it to be a cute, quick read!! Definitely looking forward to the next installment!! 3.75 stars!

I can’t even begin to discuss how much i loved this book, I love a good second chance romance with a little murder mystery, and wondering if they are going to get caught or not, I also really enjoyed learning about the families ties and culture. It was such a adorable and fun book to read, cannot wait to read the next book by this author.

I absolutely loved this book! I was so engrossed by the characters right off the bat. Jesse Q. Sutanto's writing is out of this world, if you've been in a reading slump this is a great place to start, it absolutely blew me away!

What a delight! Dial A for Aunties is chick lit with a side a murder. I love books that mix genres. This books made me laugh and I loved the aunties. What a fun cast of characters. I will be look for more from Jesse Q. Sutanto!

When Meddelin Chan ends up accidentally killing her blind date, her meddlesome mother calls for her even more meddlesome aunties to help get rid of the body. Unfortunately, a dead body proves to be a lot more challenging to dispose of than one might anticipate, especially when it is accidentally shipped in a cake cooler to the over-the-top billionaire wedding Meddy, her Ma, and aunties are working, at an island resort on the California coastline. It's the biggest job yet for their family wedding business—"Don't leave your big day to chance, leave it to the Chans!"—and nothing, not even an unsavory corpse, will get in the way of her auntie's perfect buttercream cake flowers.

But things go from inconvenient to downright torturous when Meddy's great college love—and biggest heartbreak—makes a surprise appearance amid the wedding chaos. Is it possible to escape murder charges, charm her ex back into her life, and pull off a stunning wedding all in one weekend?
