THE NEUROTIC NOTEBOOK is a fun, pun-y gift book. . The familiar composition style cover immediate draws you to it and gives you the special place where you want to write all the words. Each page has a clever play on words, fonts, or punctuation, and it offers an interesting and entertaining use of language. This notebook is the perfect gift for just the "write" person.

This is another "bathroom book", you know, the type you read in short increments of time, and not straight through. It was a quick, but entertaining read. Each page contains a brief sentence or two, reflecting the difficulties of someone living with self-doubt and anxiety.

I couldn't help myself from requesting a copy of this from net galley when I saw it. The love of reading and writing drew me in and when I read it, that joy continued from start to finish. So original, unique, funny, creative, inspiring, and very true it's a book I want on my physical shelves next

This book reminds me of a rebus puzzle where the words and their placements are sending you a message. It was a fast, entertaining read.

The neurotic notebook is a light, clever book built on witty observation and wordplay. It's fun for a chuckle, for turning a phrase or the physical placement of a phrase into a joke. Definitely makes you look twice at what's on the page.
Will be interesting to use in teaching double meanings.

Please know, that I am already pre-ordering this for everyone for next Christmas (given the state of postage these days) I love it as a piece of visual art, but I think it could be an amazing journal. Reminding us that not everything is as it seems, and to think outside the box.
I may have read the whole thing with a gigantic smile on my face

I've never considered myself to be 'neurotic', simply someone who overthinks, worries about everything, has anxiety and.... ok, I guess I am neurotic then!
This notebook was on point, describing in simple lines (and off lines...) the ups and downs, ins and outs of being someone rules by uncertainty, self-doubt and extreme worrying. It was also, in the end, a nice reminder that people need to be kind to themselves, but especially people like me.
It was funny and to the point.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for allowing me to read this in exchange for my opinion and honest review.

Thanks Netgalley for this ARC - thoroughly enjoyed this quick read, was able to relate to the random doodling, random note making in every corner of the book in good old school and college days!
My favorites were - How can I find balance? The page with the stained blob, and on top of everything the cover page of the book is just too awesome.
the relationship between words and the writer is so relatable, this book represents the one liners in each page and they are all too cute! I would recommend that all stationery lovers get a physical copy of this book for their bookshelf collections!

A very interesting and fun look into a neurotic notebook. I had fun reading this book and the fun graphics and humor in this book is something definitely worth reading!

The idea is fun, and as a stationery lover I appreciate the aesthetic, but this is basically just a series of (mostly-visual) typography puns which doesn't tell a cohesive narrative.

This is a very quick read that pretty accurately describes the crazy thoughts that run through our heads on the daily. From the good to the bad, the hard and the light, Lena does not hold back any thought. All the thoughts are relatable. Some are the ones we are embarrassed to admit we held as a thought, and these are the ones that hit deepest. I love the artistic flare Lena added to the words she chose to share.
NetGalley granted me an Advanced Reader's Copy of this text in exchange for my opinions.

I was a little upset that I couldn’t download this to my Kindle but I understand. I don’t like to read on my phone. Having said that, this is a really really really quick read because it’s not a book or a novel. From my understand it’s a notebook that you can write in but the prompts are very creative and they do form a story of progression and growth. I think this be a great gift for my daughter.

Very clever book. I would definitely pick up a copy of this when I see in it the bookshop, as it would be a perfect antedote to a dull, uninspiring day and a pick me up if one if not feeling inspired to be creative.

If I understand correctly, this is a type of journal or notebook that you write in it.
From a design point of view, this is a nice notebook. I wouldn't define this as a self-help book by itself. But it can be for some. If you can find it funny and laugh at these and your troubles, it can be a self-help tool. 3.5 rounded to 4.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this! All opinions are my own.

With barely a sentence per page, this book is a quick page-turner! It wasn't quite my style, but I can appreciate how the author offers words of encouragement in witty, often unexpected ways.

I received an ARC of The Neurotic Notebook through Netgalley. in exchange for an honest review. This is only a book in the sense that it will be one if you fill in the blanks. Maybe that is what is meant to be done. As a journal I could see where this would be deliciously involving, as a book or "graphic" it doesn't deliver for me. The entirety of it could be boiled down to 3 pages, the author seems to find creative delight in using several pages to say a word, or two words. I get it. The word puns, the play and the distortion it just is not for me. Less prose than idle thoughts.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This just worked 😊 both in terms of design and witty humor, Lena Friedrich delivered a passionate ode to words and the good old notebook sketching.
I would love to have some of these pages on a t-shirt. And this book on my shelf.
Many thanks to those involved in letting me read this.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed are my own.
This is one of those journals that REALLY makes me wish I were better at keeping a journal.
It's definitely for the neurotic (as its name states)/anxious and features clever statements on pages, while also leaving quite a few completely blank ones. You could also definitely use the statements as journaling prompts, if you were so inclined. It's refreshing to flip through and see all those thoughts you can't necessarily give voice to.
Bottom line: Despite receiving it on NetGalley, I definitely don't recommend it as an e-book! But I DO, however, recommend it if you're a neurotic journaler. :)

I must admit that I am one of those people that loves a good notebook, even more so now I am working from home as it was a bit of a mission at the outset to be organised when working full time at home with a two (now three) year old but I got there in the end!
This book is one I would definitely buy – the comments are honest, witty, funny, true and light-hearted and they did make me giggle in places too and it would definitely brighten my day when I turned over the page.

I read this one sitting and found some of it funny but I was not as amused I as should have been considering this was categorized as humor. Some of the one liners and ouns were great, the rest of it was quite dull. I have just read more funny books this year than what was in this "notebook.:
Don't waste your time. Read something else. One star is plenty generous for this.
Thanks to Netgalley, Lena Friedman and the publisher (who is not listed) for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
