Harlan Coben does it again, is there any better author? I think he's my absolute favourite and, luckily for me, Win is my most favourite character so how could I refuse to read his very own first book?

As always, it doesn't disappoint. Win is such a strong character that we have seen throughout the Myron Bolitar series and now he has his own story, which is predictably brilliant! Win is so well developed as a character that he could be my real-life friend, in fact, I think I might be a little in love with him and no less so in this book. He isn't your usual loveable character but he loves his friends hard and has a good heart.

in this we meet more of Win's family and learn more of his past, we see him delve into another underground investigation, which he obviously solves in the end. not your usual type of mystery this is a really well thought out and developed plot in which he also manages to solve the mysterious abduction of his cousin, Patricia over twenty years ago.

Awesome characters, Brilliant plot, a quick and involved read that will have you turning the pages well past bedtime, I would recommend it to everyone because we all need a Win in our lives. I can't wait for the next one!

Harlan Coben is one of my absolute favourite authors! When he writes a book...I will buy it and read it. His writing is absolutely masterful! I was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to review WIN.

WIN is rich, and he absolutely LOVES to tell us this, at every opportunity in the book! You've got to love an obnoxiously rich protagonist.

20 years ago, WIN's cousin was kidnapped during a robbery. She was held captive for a while, but was returned to her family after a while. 20yrs later, a man turns up dead, and in his apartment are some of the items that were stolen in the robbery 20yrs ago. These crimes seem somehow related, and WIN is determined to get to the bottom of it. WIN seeks justice, at any cost....and he has a bit of a vigilante streak that I love. Is he the most endearing person you'll ever 'meet'? Probably not, but I promise you, he won't care.

I can never fault Harlan's writing...all his books are always a page turner. This one was filled with secrets, lies, thrills and suspense! Everything we have come to associate with Harlan.

As a fan of Myron Bolitar books, I always enjoyed reading about Windsor Horne Lockwood III or Win, as he is commonly known as, so I was so excited to read this book!

And it did not disappoint at all. Win is a unique character; he is weird but extremely skilled and intelligent at the same time. And I love the way he says “Articulate”!

The plot is exciting and got me hooked right from the first page. Its fast paced and full of action right till the end.
Overall, an excellent start to a new series!

Thank You NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for this ARC!

It seems to me that Harlan Coben, along with Dennis Lehane are the two preeminent authors in the crime genre and have been for decades. Reviewing their work is probably an exercise in futility as their , well merited, popularity ensures a ready readership for all of their work.

Regarding Mr Coben’s latest opus, Win, it would seem to be a guaranteed bestseller. The story concerns “Win” otherwise properly known as Windsor Horne Lockwood 111. A unique creation who has featured in the Myron Bolitar series of novels, this is a solo outing for Win. As an Englishman it does amuse me that Mr Coben has created an anti-hero who is the perfect reflection of a spoilt member of the English aristocracy- privileged by virtue of birth, old money and connections, who is also a high-functioning sociopath.

Win has few redeeming traits but, as you would expect, the expertly crafted plot, peppered with razor sharp dialogue and explosions of violence is all you’d expect from Harlen Coben, so make you read the great man’s latest gem.

Any criticisms, yes, I judge Messrs Coben and Lehane to a higher standard than all other crime authors. I still find Win without Myron like Holmes without Watson, so the humour available in the Bolitar series is mostly absent. Just that and a few longeurs in the plot still leave this way above all, almost all, the opposition.

I love reading Harlan Coben, it's like being with an old friend and this book reunites us with a long lost friend in Win. I have always thought that his character was worthy of a book on his own so happy days. Twists and turns aplenty will keep you engrossed until the end.

In this exciting and well-crafted thriller, Harlan Coben turns the sidekick in his many books about sports agent Myron Bolitar, Windsor Horne Lockwood III (aka Win), into the main attraction. The arrogance and extravagance that characterized Win in the Bolitar series has been turned down a notch, which makes him a whole lot more likable.
Coben uses his usual tricks of humor, a realistic story, and believable twists and turns in the plot to keep the reader hooked - and it works. I was well-entertained - as I always am in the company of a Coben book - and Coben's many fans will not be disappointed by this spin-off story (or series - who knows?).

A cracking read from the great Harlan Coben.

Over twenty years ago, heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors, and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. But then a recluse is found murdered with two objects of note - one of them leading to Lockwood. The suspect, Windsor Horne Lockwood III - or Win as his few friends call him, has no idea how his family's painting ended up with the dead man. But he starts to investigate alongside the FBI. He has his own reasons for doing so.

I’ve enjoyed all of Harlan Cobens books and the ones converted to television especially so was intrigued to read this book and see what the storyline was

Win AKA Windsor Horne Lockwood III is not the most likeable character To be honest, I’ve heard narcissistic used and would agree

He is a violent man who helps the FBI which is how he justifies his behaviours

The thing with Harlan Coben is he knows how to draw you in as a reader

I was obsessed and read the book in two sittings - it’s not always an easy read but it’s certainly worth it

Another outstanding book by harlan coben. I become a fan of his after reading the woods and this book did not disappoint either. Such an amazing writer who gets you drawn into the book right away. Found it very hard to put this down. A must read

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE HC's books, and this new one didn't disappoint! At no point did I even come close to guessing the end and it absolutely blew my mind! Can't wait to read the next book from this author!

Of all the books I have read by this amazing author this is my least favourite. I suppose there is always going to come a time when we stumble upon one that doesn't quite do it for us with our favourite authors and unfortunately this was mine.

I think my biggest problem was the lead character. If you have read the Myron Bolitor series (11 books strong) you would have encountered the lead character in this stand alone. Win or Windsor Horne Lockwood III is the MOST annoying, irritating, aggravating character out there. Yes I know that's the whole point of this character BUT he irritated me so damn much I couldn't gel with the book at all.

The actual plot (as expected) was fast paced, extremely well written and had some great twists and turns, I just wish I had connected a tiny smidgeon with Win.

Huge thanks to netgalley and Random House UK for the ARC.

This was my first Harlan Coben book but it definitely won't be the last. WIN is an absolute page turner with a complex and often arrogant lead character I easily found myself getting behind. The book as a whole has a great mix of mystery and suspense and I loved the twists that kept me on edge. Some great character development and a strong narrative style added to the enjoyment of this book. Will definitely be continuing on with the series and will be looking into Coben's back catalogue.

Wow wow wow this book was amazing. I am a massive fan of Harlan Coben and this masterpiece was the icing on the cake. Absolutely superb writing. A story full of twists and turns.

Win by Harlan Coben is one of many books I’ve read by the author. Although I enjoyed it and was never in danger of giving up on it, it’s not my favourite. However the main character is very interesting, complex and unusual and that appealed to me from the start. He is Windsor Horne Lockwood 111 and is a multi millionaire who seeks to provide justice in his own inimitable and often violent way.

The plot is complicated and involves different story lines that inevitably turn out to be linked. I recommend it to readers who enjoy the unraveling of the past and solving a mystery.

A very satisfying, well plotted twisty and dark thriller with a tough main character who is like a coiled spring just waiting to inflict violence and mayhem on anybody who gets in his way.

A stolen painting taken in an ill fated raid on his family’s estate many years ago now turns up
hanging in a luxury penthouse suite where another murder has been committed. How did it get there and what connection has the murder victim to the theft?

Windsor Horne Lockwood III ( or Win to his “ friends”) investigates in his own inimitable manner, doing exactly what he likes to get at the truth, regardless of any consequences. How far will he go without his “conscience” Myron Bolitar by his side to rein him in?

On the surface he is completely amoral. He is very rich, arrogant and needing no self justification to do what’s needed, even if it means hurting his own family. Yet you find yourself rooting for him all the way because strangely enough he does live by a moral code ,even though his own narrative would suggest otherwise.

It is the masterful blending of hero and anti hero and the meticulous plotting that maintains interest throughout and produces such an entertaining read.

A twisty fast-paced crime thriller featuring Myron Bolitar's sidekick "Win" in his own novel. Super-rich vigilante Windsor Horne Lockwin III aka Win investigates what links the terrorist group "Jane Street Six" with a valuable family art theft, the abduction of his cousin and the murder of a penthouse recluse. A complex and captivating read.

Win is a departure for Harlan Coben, Windsor Lockwood the third was the psychopathic aristocratic friend and protector of Coben’s original detective Myron Bolitar, now he gets his own novel as the lead character.

20 years ago Win’s cousin was abducted and held captive during a robbery of the family home. The two stolen artworks were never recovered until one appears in the home of a murder victim. As Win tries to solve the crime and find the other painting he discovers some disturbing family secrets and interest from the FBI related to domestic terrorism in the 60’s.

I liked Win as a sidekick but he lacks the nuance and charm of Bolitar and overall this is rather meh!

I don't think that Harlan Coben can write a bad or boring book. This one confirms what I think and I loved it.
Great storytelling, excellent character and plot development.
A gripping and entertaining story that kept me hooked.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
