Lightening Game by Christine Feehan is another chapter in the Ghostwalker Series. They are enhanced men given special abilities. In this story we learn about Rubin Camp and his brother and the woman destined to be Rubin’s. But she doesn’t want to be. They say that lightening can strike at any time, and with these two character is definitely literally strikes! They both attract lightening but in different ways. People are after them. Are these people good or bad? Maybe a little of both? The interactions between the characters is spot on. Ms. Freehan has once again created a story that will hold the reader’s attention.

We headed back to the swamp to check in and met Jonqille living in the Campo cabin. I love these men finding their match but…swamp seems to be getting crowded!

Love and danger with electrifying results. Two brothers and the perfect match for one. Both can play with lightning and are healers that are adept at what they do. I love all Feehan's stories they pull you in and keep you interested but our not heavy reads.

Another Game book, truly this series just gets better and better! Lightening Game has lots of twists and turns, who to trust? Rubin and his brother Diego go back to their mountains to help with neighbors in any way they can.

This surprise trip catches someone in their Appalachian home. Jonquille, she is there for a purpose, first she must earn the brothers trust.

They become a tight family unit... together they will be unbelievable! See where the next adventure takes us

Is feehan secretly james patterson? Everytime I turn around she has another book out. They are great books and I will read them everytime but d*$m is so prolific.

Another Christine Feehan book with amazing characters and a wonderful plotline. It was full of the great intensity I expect from her writing. It's interesting and intense. I always look forward to her next book, and this one didn't let me down.

Want to watch lightning, well get in line for a lightening romance. Christine Feehan's latest addition to her Ghostwalker series is a romance filled with fantastic descriptions of the Appalachian Mountains, the love of two brothers, the results of Whitney's games with people's bodies, humor, telepathy and a lot of electrical/energy information. The latest addition doesn't disappoint and now I look forward to the next in the series while savoring the delightful romance of another Ghostwalker couple, Rubin and Jonquille.

LIGHTNING GAME is the seventeenth instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult GHOSTWALKERS erotic, paranormal romance series focusing on an elite group (4 teams) of enhanced men and women known as the GhostWalkers (GW). These ‘super soldiers’ were once part of an unauthorized government experiment performed by Dr. Peter Whitney but several soldiers have, since, opted into the program on their own. Someone, only known as ‘Swamp Man’ gives the GhostWalkers pause, and in this, the rescue of a familiar face and name, bring the GhostWalker Teams together.

The relationship between Jonquille and Ruben is slow to build as Ruben’s brother Diego struggles to trust our story line heroine. Ruben knows that Jonquille is his fated mate, and in this, Ruben and Jonquille will work together to direct the lightning and energy for a better cause. The $ex scenes are limited, passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Unlike several of the previous instalments in the GhostWalker series, and some of the author’s other series, LIGHTNING GAME does not focus on the sexual needs and wants of our story line hero. Ruben Campo knows Jonquille is the woman that calls to his heart, and in this, he doesn’t force his power, his alpha-ness, or an over the top attitude regarding a woman’s place, and the man she must serve. The growing love between our couple is heart warming and intimate, sweet and consuming.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar characters including several members of other GhostWalker Teams–Ryland Miller, and several members of Team one; Ezekiel (Bellisia), and Mordichai Fortunes, Colonel Joe Spagnola, Gino Mazzo (Zara), Wyatt Fontenot, and everybody’s favorite grandmother Nonny Fontenot. We are introduced to Ruben’s brother Diego, and a new group of GhostWalkers, who may or may not have future story lines: Harris Ledes, Sean O’Connell, and Kevin Morris

LIGHTNING GAME is an energetic and spirited story line. The premise is riveting; the romance is inspiring and captivating; the characters are intense and dynamic.

As I had mentioned in my review of LETHAL GAME (#16), LIGHTNING GAME is also a bit of a departure from the author’s usually graphic violent and sex obsessive story lines. With the addition of several psychic healers, the GhostWalkers takes on a bit of the Dark (Carpathian) feel, paralleling the earlier works of the author’s series.

Christine Feehan has outdone herself with this book !

This was an excellent book ! The author spun her unique storytelling magic as she wove one exciting twist after another into Rubin and Jonquille's story. It had all of the usual aspects of every Christine Feehan book. There was a spellbinding mystery, with loads of action and suspense, and of course the heat. It was so romantic with Rubin at long last meeting his perfect match in Jonquille. The plot was filled with a wealth of action and suspense as they had to work together, along with Diego, against overwhelming odds, to unravel a mystery and met with surprises all along the way. They discovered a frightening villain and a very welcoming surprise as new characters were introduced into the series. All in all this was an incredibly thrilling read all the way around.

Lightning Game is most definitely one of my favorite books in this series ! I can't wait to read the next book.

Review: This is the 17th book of the GhostWalker series and Feehan’s stories just keep getting better. This is the story of Jonquille, one of the first group of female orphans that Whitney experimented on, and Rubin, one of a pair of brothers (both doctors, both GhostWalkers) born in the Appalachian Mountains. Jonquille is unable to be near others for long, thanks to Whitney’s electrifying enhancements, and seeks out Rubin, who is a noted expert on lightning. Rubin and his brother Diego return to their family cabin twice a year to check on their neighbors and patients but are surprised by someone sleeping in their cabin. Rubin is drawn to Jonquille immediately and knows it’s likely a perfect pairing created by Whitney.

The camaraderie between Jonquille and Diego is so heart-warming and playful, that it makes them more realistic as you’re pulled into the story. This story has amazingly well-developed action and excitement that just keeps building, with the romance and steamy scenes relegated later in the story. What Rubin learns about Jonquille’s abilities makes him just as protective about her as Diego and the rest of team four, are about him. Jonquille insists a team of enhanced soldiers are hunting Rubin, but the battle for survival might surprise you. While new GhostWalker characters are introduced, there is no advancement in the search for Dr. Whitney.

4.5 Hearts Christine Feehan is one of my go-to’s because I know I will get a wonderful read and this books is exactly why I fell in love with her books.

This is finally Rubin’s story. Seems like we have waited forever for his story. Rubin is in team 4 of the Ghostwalkers. They are the best but they do have abilities the SEALS will never have. But while his whole team has some kind of power Rubin may be one of the rarest of all. He is a psychic doctor, of which there are only 2 in the world.

Jonquille is one of Whitney’s first orphan girls groups that he designed to be unique and she has her own powers. So when she and Rubin connect the power is unstoppable.

One of the best things about Feehan’s books is the connections everyone has. The connection between Rubin and Jonquille is intense but the connection Rubin has with his team is just as well.

I love Feehan’s books and while 17 books in the same series may seem like a lot each one is a story that should not be missed. Bring on 18!

The Ghostwalkers are back!

And Rubin gets his story! I’d like to think I’m patient as I wait for the next in the group of Ghostwalkers to find their mate, but for some reason I was anxious for this one. Rubin did so much for the group. I know they all did/do, bringing their special skills to help them all. I had a soft spot for him though and Jonquille met my expectations for sure…

Getting ahead of Rubin and his brother Diego seemed impossible but somehow Jonquille did it. She was as unique as her name and her trouble was tightly bound with theirs. Coming together to fight common enemies was nothing new for the brothers but for Jonquille it was a foreign concept. She was used to being alone. Surviving alone. Watching both of them slowly reveal their most personal thoughts, while dodging life-threatening situations was a treat…

I loved, loved, loved how humour and the warm sense of family came together once again in a paranormal-filled, military-esque romance. There was insta-love for sure but it was backed up with lots of exciting, heart-pinging twists as strangers became much more…

This is the seventeenth in this series so there does feel like some repetition in the facts and back story - not necessarily a bad thing when you don’t start at the beginning. And it doesn’t take away from what was another great read in the series…

Lightning Game by Christine Feehan brings us into the GhostWalker world. Rubin grew up in the Appalachian Mountains. Even though his upbringing was tough, it helped him become the soldier he is. Imagine his surprise when he goes back to his cabin and finds somebody there. Jonquille can not be around people without harming them. She goes to the cabin to ask for Rubin’s help and to figure out who is following him.

This was a hit from Christine Feehan. A fun, fast read, Lightning Game is a great addition the GhostWalker world. I enjoyed the banter between Rubin, Diego and Jonquille. No this is not groundbreaking but sometimes all you want is enjoyable. I do not think you need to read every book in the series to enjoy this one. I will say there are spoilers for other books.

3.5 stars for being exactly what I thought it was going to be, a romance novel about characters with special abilities. I will round up because it was the right book at the right time. Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group and Christine Feehan for the ARC. This is an honest review.

In the depths of the hollers of the Appalachian Mountains, Rubin and Diego Campo’s family lived and died. Even after their departure to Detroit, their ties to the land and the people never left them and they return every year to pay homage to their home and doctor the folks who will let no outsider close.

Jonquille, one of the original orphan girls Whitney experimented on and declared a failure is squatting in the Campo home place. Having escaped from Whitney and his mad experiments, she is concentrating on finding a way to learn to live with the energy she attracts but can’t dispel safely. From her research, Rubin is her last hope to live a “normal” life.

Ms. Feehan knocks it out of the park with Rubin and Jonquille’s story, starting with the Goldilocks scene between Rubin and Diego’s ‘who has been sleeping in my house’, to Jonquille’s comedic response to the brothers telepathic quarrels and expanding on the emotional strain they all face due to Whitney’s enhancements.

Their story slowly expands to include backstory of Rubin and Diego’s extended family in the hollers, the questions as to what Whitney wants from their pairing and the inevitable bad guys. As always with a Feehan novel, there are multiple plot twists, subtle and not so subtle hints for stories down the road and the GhostWalker family having your back! Oh and The Love Story woven through it all

Home is where the heart is has never been truer than the Appalachian Mountains for Ruben and Diego. Having buried all their families at a young age they had left to find a life for themselves elsewhere. Little did they know when they became Ghost Walkers that going back home would uncover so many secrets and for Ruben the love of a lifetime. Even has they grew older and their talents developed they always made time to go back and fix up the family home place and also provide medical assistance to their neighbors.
While on a trip back home that was earlier than they had previously anticipated they find that someone has not only been living in their old homeplace but had also completed much needed repairs. This set off warning signals for both and they wait to find out who their mysterious visitor was.
Jonquille one of the original Whitney experiments has come to find Ruben hoping that he will be able to help undue the experiments that Whitney had perform on her, as she had always felt that she was a total failure with the talents that she had, only to find that ultimately there was no way to undue the changes. She finds that even with this knowledge she is drawn to Ruben and only wants to protect him from the evil that is stalking her.
As Ruben, Diego, and Jonquille work together to find answers to who is trying to capture her, Ruben finds that her talents are a complete match to his and that she just needs an anchor to bring those talents to the forefront.
There were so many surprises in this book and kept me riveted to the story. As Ruben and Jonquille’s relationship develops it is more mental than physical through out the book but when the finally commit to each other they are truly electric.
As the newest story in the Ghost Walker series this is one you don’t want to miss. Let the Lightening Games begin….. #GhostWalkerseries#LighteningGame

I’ll admit upfront that although I have enjoyed this series, it had become a bit predictable. I am happy to say that this installment felt new and fun. Even Jonquille’s flashbacks had a different feel that I liked.

For those that read my reviews, you know that I love group camaraderie and easy banter. I think that is why I loved this book from the start. Rubin and his brother, Diego have an easy banter with a give-and-take relationship that pulled me in. I wondered how Jonquille would mesh with that but needn’t have worried. She fit right in and they became a group of three that made me want to join them.

The romance part moved slowly and culminated in a sparking sexual encounter late in the book. I honestly didn’t miss it as it moved in a logical pace for all the background story going on. Most of the book was just the three of them which helped with their bonding. Happily, the rest of the Ghostwalkers made an appearance later. (I just love the group.) The storyline kept me wondering and guessing at what was happening and who was the bad guy in play. I do wish the resolution of that part of the storyline wasn’t so easy. It was a bit of a letdown after the buildup. Not enough to make me lower my score, but it is a point I want to make.

I loved it and can’t wait for the next book. I hope its about Diego and includes some of the new players.

There are many ways to feel lonely. No matter a person’s strength, intelligence, skills. Whether surrounded by those you love, by other people, or completely alone. There are many ways to feel apart from others and the need for connection. Until someone comes along and you see each other for who you are not just what you’re capable of doing. Love builds from this understanding and builds a bond between you stronger than anything else.
Jonquille and Rubin are examples of this, thanks to the enhancements the series antagonist, Dr Whitney gave them. Jonquille is forced to be isolated, some of her enhancements are unable to be controlled and are dangerous when around others. Rubin is revered because of his healing gift, those who care about him feel the need to protect him, begin to only see him as this one gift and not the person he is. They are paired by Dr Whitney, giving them the balance and attraction, but how do they move toward love?
It’s the people they are. The time spent getting to know each other, in search of knowledge, and due to the need to protect the other, they are brought together. Unaware of how special his gifts are Jonquille comes to know the man he became because of his past and the science he loves, the things he enjoys and the people he loves. By Sharing her past, telling him of her life with Whitney, her mind and the skills others never see, her strength and intelligence and wit, the person she became despite all Whitney put her through and took from her. He moves past this is my paired female to this is the woman I love.
Their journey takes place in the wonderful setting of the Appalachian Mountains, Rubin and Diego Compo’s childhood home and their turf, so well written you feel you are there. By the end of the first chapter your heart belongs to these characters and your want their Happy Ever After to work! The relationship of Diego and Rubin, their skills from childhood and enhancements are amazing! The world they shared with Jonquille open her to the possibility she could be part of something, at Rubin’s side she could be around others and belong, use skills of her own that she was denied using most of her life. The banter between Rubin Diego and Jonquille brings wit and humor to the story. The wisdom and mischief of fellow Mountain friends drive the plot and add to understanding. The danger they face, the twists and turns on who is the target, who is the enemy, keep you on the edge of your seat…especially the “I can’t believe Christine did that” moment, even if it’s perfect event to drive the plot.
The series also gets a boost in this story with Jaw dropping surprises and grin causing Karma delivered with team 4 and other teams aiding them. By the end the Happily Ever After is so sweet, both of them in love with each other and coming to a new understanding and respect for all their gifts even the ones thought to cause their loneliness. Looking forward to reading what’s next for the Ghostwalkers…

I must admit, this story really tugged at my heart strings. I really felt sorry for Jonquille. She was one of many guinea pigs that Whitney experimented on. Whitney considered her a failure.
Jonquille had no clue what DNA Whitney had mixed in her when he experimented. She only knew that the power that she had made her unable to be around people. She gave up on ever having friends, a family or a future.
She had taken to sneaking in the conferences and talks that Rubin gave, hoping to find out information on how to undo what Whitney had done to her.
Rubin was greatly intrigued by Jonquille who had taken up residence in his family’s old homestead. He found himself greatly drawn to her as she explained why she was there, hoping that he could undo the horrible things that Whitney had done to her.
Rubin and his brother always came back home at least once a year. Rubin used his doctor skills to help the hometown country folks who did not like going to big city doctors. No one knew, or at least would never say, that Rubin healed them with more than his doctor skills. No one spoke of the seemingly magical way that they were healed when Rubin came around.
As Rubin, Diego and Jonquille went visiting the town folks, they discovered that Jonquille also had a natural healing energy about her. So they started working together and began learning about each other as time went on.
But all was not well on the horizon. Jonquille and/or Rubin and Diego had people after them, and it appeared that there were two different teams after them. But who were they after?
After Jonquille was kidnapped by one team of soldiers, Rubin and Diego set out to rescue her. As they went along, they learned that there was another person who was trying to produce super soldiers and was running into difficulties.
Could they rescue Jonquille, find out what is going on with the new soldiers, and come out alive?
Plan on staying up late reading as Rubin and Jonquille learn to trust each other, work together and help out other soldiers with their compassion and healing.

Rubin and Diego Campo are members of Ghostwalker Team 4 ParaRescue. They are the team that is sent in when other Ghostwalkers need medical help. Rubin is also that rare talent, a psychic surgeon and has been experimenting with lightning. The government is wanting the military to develop the ability to use lightning as a weapon.Their home base is in Louisiana but they make a pilgrimage to their childhood home in the Appalachian Mountains once a year. This trip starts out no different from previous trips until they arrive at their home and find it is being occupied.
Meet Jonquille. She discovered that Rubin has been giving talks on his lightning research and decided her best shot at talking to him would be at his childhood home. Jonquille has the problem of being a lightning magnet is unable to be around others much. After following Rubins’ research Jonquille is hoping Rubin can help her.
The dynamics between Rubin and Jonquille are quietly electrifying. Add in Diego for a bit of seriocomic relief. Then we have the mystery of who is being followed. Is it Jonquille or Rubin? Things come to a head and the three return to Louisiana.
Major happenings with what I consider major reveals occur at this point.
I would have to say that Lightning Game is one of the best books I have read. I would rate it towards the top of my top 10 books in this series. It is my opinion that Christine Feehan is back in the form of her earlier books. For those that are concerned about the amount of sex in her recent books, you will be happy to know that there is very little in this one and what there is doesn’t take place until towards the end of book. I expect to reread this one multiple times.
I know I’ve said it before but if you have not pre-ordered this book run out and buy it in your local book store or wherever you buy books. You really won’t regret getting this one!!!!
