I thoroughly enjoyed Lightning Game. I am excited that it was Rubin's story. After Lethal Game I wanted to learn more about him and his brother. Their story is horrendous and discovering more about what they'd been through was not easy. I enjoyed their relationship with each other and the people on the mountain.
Jonquille was a little harder to connect with, but her relationship with Rubin worked. It was nice to have the hero be fully in agreement with their connection and not have to wade through all the back and forth that we often have to do with the hero.
The story had a great mixture between family and relationship, and tense action.
I struggled a bit with the reveal of a new team. Well, more than a team as there are quite a few. Rubin and Diego killed a number of them, but when they officially meet no one mentions that or struggles with it. Some of them were traitors, but it didn't feel quite fully developed or handled. I just hope we'll finish Team 4 before we move on to the new guys.
Overall another great addition to the series.

Yessss.

I couldn't have been more excited to receive Lightning Game as an eARC - it's a series I have really come to enjoy and this is the #17th installment; Rubin's story.

No spoilers, as this isn't due out until March 2021 but Lightning Game is Christine Feehan at her finest; loved the setting, the story, the romance, everything! Feehan's real strength is in her world-building and Lightning Game is an exciting escape with characters that I could read about for a few hundred more pages (I like big books and I cannot lie).

Fans of the series might want to take a day off of work on March 2, 2021 because you won't want to put this one down! If you haven't read this series and you like magical realism with a military twist, you have until March to read up (feel free to skip books 7-12, like I did).
