I love this Irish Village Mystery series, and this one is the 7th addition to this series. A distressing death of an elderly occurs, and the villagers are wondering what happened. She was found outside of a bookshop soon to be opened. The addition of this bookshop to this series has me happy and the added mystery of another death makes for an engaging and entertaining cozy read. An upcoming wedding adds to the story with the anticipation of another book to come. Thank you, NetGalley, and the publisher for the ARC.

This is an adorable (if you can call a murder mystery such) cozy mystery that is the seventh in the series. Although I have not been privy to read the others this one can certainly be read alone with no problem. I enjoyed the scene that takes place in County Cork in Ireland and has a great cast of characters that will allow you to feel as though you are apart of the story. The authors throws some woes in at the protagonist who really learns to take it in stride. Getting married has been on Siobhán’s mind due to her and her fiancé trying to set the date. She also wants to head to the new bookstore and find the perfect book to cuddle up and read. Yet the bookstore owner has other plans like only carrying certain books or requiring the customer to quote certain authors before they can enter the store. The owner is having an upcoming meet and greet where you can get an autograph from one of the up an coming Irish authors who will be staying in town. One in particular, Deirdre, has some issues with another author Nessa. Then however, Deidra’s body is found with pages from Nessa’s book stuffed in her mouth. Is Nessa capable of murder? Could it have been someone else who did not like Deidra? This book is full of twists that will keep you enthralled as well as entertained. This is a very fast paced read that will certainly keep you guessing until the end.

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This series is so good. I love this new installment, Murder in an Irish Bookshop. Siobhan and Macdara are still working on their wedding plans (hooray!) and there is a new bookstore in town. It's not a very welcoming bookstore though, as the owner is a literary snob and won't stock anything that doesn't qualify as serious literature. He hosts an author event that stirs up a bit of controversy, and shortly thereafter Irish author Deirdre is found murdered. Working with a new addition to the garda, it's up to Siobhan to find the perpetrator and solve the case. I love Siobhan and the whole O'Sullivan family and never get tired of reading about them.

I love a good cozy mystery and this is one of the best I have read in quite awhile. The characters are realistic and the plot keeps you engaged.

I loved the cover – it immediately brought back memories of a gorgeous bookshop I visited when I was in Galway a few years ago. As a result, this was my first read in Carlene O’Connor’s Irish Village Mystery series. I enjoyed the cast of characters immensely – Siobhan Sullivan and her unruly siblings, her finance Macdara, the villagers and her new garda colleague.
Everyone in the village is very excited at the opening of a bookshop in Kilbane. That is until the opening, first it appears that the owner has very fixed ideas about his catalogue and then the opening is marred by a suspicious death of a guest author. Siobhan and Macdara uncover a world of literary snobbishness and petty jealousies.
Murder in an Irish Village is an accessible and quick read that made me smile often as I read it. I look forward to exploring the back catalogue.

Siobhan is the main character and she is very likable person who has a lot going on. Her birthday is approaching, and she needs to get moving on her wedding and on top of all that, she is training a new garda, There is a new book store coming to their small Irish community and she is so excited to for the upcoming opening day. But launch day for the bookstore doesn’t turn out like she planned. The owners of the store are peculiar and only stock literature books, they definitely limit their clientele. But things become even more intriguing when a body turns up and no one seems to know what’s going on. This book is book seven from the Irish Village Mystery series.
I have not read the previous six books in the series and I did not feel that I was missing any context, so I would say it’s a stand alone book. I recommend it to those who enjoy a good cozy mystery.
Thank you for the advanced copy!

If Books Could Talk

Carlene O’Connor is always a joy to read! I love the way she pieces the puzzle together with subtle twists and turns. Murder in an Irish Bookshop is no different! Siobhan and Macdara are tasked with solving the murder of a woman in a brand new bookshop. Sounds easy enough, but with multiple characters to interview and a killer on the loose, time is ticking before someone gets away with murder. I, for one, had a hard time putting it down. These are the type of books that just suck me in and take me on a journey. Great read! Cannot wait for the next one!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I must preface this by saying I adore this series. It really puts me back in Ireland, a country I have become enchanted with. Siobhan O’Sullivan is such a wonderful character and the town of Kilbane is just charming. I have read all the other books in this series and just heard that it’s been optioned for a show. That will be incredible. This is a classic cozy mystery that twists just enough to keep you in your toes. I’m kept guessing until the very end.
I can’t wait for the next book and the show.
Also, the author has another book series that I’m looking forward to diving into.

Siobhan O’Sullivan, the female protagonist, is a skilled detective and a loving but not always as competent older sister/mother fill in for her five brothers and sisters when their parents die. While this is the first book of the series I have read—it is the seventh in the series--it is obvious that the growth of Siobhan as a Garda and the trials and triumphs of this family are the heart of this mystery series. The family is endearing and the villagers are engaging.

The mystery was solid but part of the story did seem to drag a bit. I got annoyed at Siobhan repeatedly mentioning her book sleeping gene. That didn’t seem to go along with her being so thrilled about a new bookstore in town.

This has a real Irish flare to it, not just a mystery that is set in Ireland but you don’t have to be Irish to enjoy a good mystery or this family and town.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a free copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just cannot image a bookstore without children’s , romance , mystery , thrillers etc . books.!! The book was too long winded with every minuscule details of the murders being questioned . I fast forwarded as was getting bogged down . For two murders too occur without a short time span the book just seem to not take them seriously. I thought the Irish village was quaint but book was drawn out.

Siobhan is birthday is approaching, wedding date needs to be set, training a new garda, … so much going on, time to find book to relax with from new bookstore that is opening. What a surprise, the bookstore only carries “Literature” books! Part to the opening is a reading and autographing even for Irish writers, and yes one of them ends up found in the store. Love the way Sioghan and Macdara work together, and I am looking forward to seeing more of the new garda, she definitely brings a lot to the team.
Another great instalment in the Irish Village Mystery series.

Death Shatters Peaceful Town....
Death shatters peaceful town in this seventh book in the Irish Village series of mysteries. Enjoyable cosy crime with a likeable protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters as well as an attractive backdrop. A fun, entertaining read and a worthy addition to the series.

I LOVE this series - it's my favorite one. She has a super huge and loving family and they're all into alcohol. You would enjoy this book better if you've read the others before it but it can be picked up as a standalone if you want.

The main objection I have to reviewing this book for Netgalley...the names were too difficult to remember and pronounce in my head. I realize they are Irish but really...the story is somewhat confusing also. I wanted a novel that I could relax with...instead of trying so much to understand. Perhaps others will love the names and figuring out the plot...worth trying to determine...

Murder in an Irish Bookshop by Carlene O’Connor is an excellent cozy mystery full of Irish charm, wit, and banter. This is the 7th book in one of my favorite series ever: Irish Village Mystery.

I have read every book in this series, and I truly feel as if they keep getting better and better. I always love visiting the small, quirky, and endearing village of Kilbane in County Cork. The full cast of characters make it feel like home. I also adore Siobhan O’ Sullivan and her partner in crime (or in this case law enforcement and fiancé as well ) Macdara Flannery. The chemistry isty is there, they work so well together, and the one-liners are hilarious. I enjoyed the new addition of Aretta to the force. I think it will add a valuable member to the team, and maybe even a romantic interest to one of the O’Sullivan men.

I enjoyed the murder/mystery plot. It was complex, had plenty of twists and turns, and the reveal was quite surprising. I love it when that happens!

I also really enjoyed the ending. It was so sweet, romantic, and perfect in every way.

I truly love this series and cannot wait to see what is in store for Siobhan, Macdara, and the whole gang in Kilbane again.

If you love cozy mysteries with an excellent character cast, fascinating murder/mystery plots, and a wonderful Irish setting, then this book (and series) is for you.

I cannot recommend this book enough!

5/5 stars enthusiastically

This was my first book in the series. I had trouble at the beginning with her style of writing. I think the characters are good, loved the location and mystery. Siobhan the MC is a great sleuth.

I didn't like the writing style that much. I thought this book was slow. It's characters are likable enough just it felt like it kept getting bogged down. I skipped some of the middle and didn't miss any of it while I finished the book. #MurderinanIrishBookshop #NetGalley

Netgalley has gotten me hooked on Carlene O'Connor. Murder in an Irish Bookstore was no exception. Margaret O'Shea is found dead by Birdie, who then runs to Siobhan, a Guarda. A new bookstore has recently opened with a very limited variety of books available. "Turn the Page" is the name of the bookshop. One of the authors signing books at the bookshop is murdered. With rain coming down, everyone is moved over to Naomi's bistro. Siobhan and her boyfriend/partner Macdara, try to find the killer.
I love to read stories that take place in a small Irish village. Carlene O'Connor writes such descriptive stories.
