This start to a very cozy and wonderful series with jus a smidge of magic, but the magic lies more with the characters and their relationships.

Great book. I love Lynn Cahoons books. I wasn’t sure about this one when I started but ended up living it. The characters a very likable. Recommend this book and others in the series

One Poison Pie, the first full book (a novella launched the series) in the Kitchen Witch series by Lynn Cahoon, has multiple threads of characters' machinations interwoven together to create a fast paced murder mystery. Once again Mia subtly uses her kitchen witch mystical talents to unravel a murder in which she is a prime suspect. As the investigation gathers steam so does the intrigue behind Mia’s previous boyfriend’s current intentions at the same time as the foundation for her new business venture progresses. Throw in severe snow storms and you have a myriad of reasons to lose yourself in this charming cozy mystery.

The story is unique in its character dynamics and interactions. As the series develops personalities evolve and relationships are established…that I look forward to being carried forward through the life of the series. Already an emotional investment in the characters has been solidified, which I can only see as getting stronger as the series progresses.

This was just an OK cozy mystery. Mia has moved back to Magic Springs, bought a school and opened her own catering business. Joining her are her grandmother and Christina , her ex boyfriend's sister. Mia and her grandmother are witches and the town is filled with magic. Her grandmother's best friend Adele has hired her to cater a party. It is Mia's first job and she is hoping it is a success. Instead she finds a body and she sets out to solve the murder. There is a lot going on in this book. There is a murder mystery, a local real estate agent is trying to force Mia out and Mia is not sure if she can trust Christina. I had a hard time connecting to the characters. Often it seemed if everyone was just running around getting into trouble. The school is an interesting setting and there is a lot of food. The mysteries did not make a lot sense and were was easy to solve. It was a quick read.

I was so excited for a new series by Lynn Cahoon. I love her other series and couldn't wait to read this book. It was worth the wait! I fell in love with Mia and her granmother and liked the setting of Idaho, which you don't see much in cozies. I liked how the book flowed and the pace was perfect. I liked the magical elements and was completely takien by surprise when the killer was revealed. I look forward to many more in the Kitechen Witch series

I enjoy another one of Lynn Cahoon's cozy series and found this intro to the Kitchen Witch series to be on par with the other series. It was a cute, fast, and fun read. I liked the fact that there was a supernatural aspect, which made things a little different from the traditional themed cozy. I look forward to the second book.

In the first official novel in the Kitchen Witch series, Mia Malone, protagonist, has been dumped by her fiancé and decides to move to Magic Springs, Idaho where her grandmother lives, and where magic is a ordinary way of life for many of the residents. Lynn Cahoon re-introduces the main characters in the first novel in the series, One Poison Pie (they are also introduced in a small novella, Chili Cauldron Curse). Mia decides to start her own food business, Mia’s Morsels, and at her first catering job discovers the body of her client. Since she is a suspect, she must investigate the murder and find the real murderer.

Mia and Grans are both very likeable characters, and they are well-developed. It’s fun for readers to relate to characters who accept witchcraft as an everyday occurrence. Cahoon adds supporting characters to each new novel, and they are believable. Cahoon’s storytelling abilities are very good, and this novel is fun to read and easy to follow.

Culinary mysteries usually include at least one recipe, and this one is no exception. Since there are dozens of references to food, it would be nice if there were more. This is a fun series, and this novel is suitable for all ages of culinary mystery lovers. There is no blatant sex, violence, or language, which is the standard for cozy mysteries, and this is a great way to read about Mia Malone who is a great character for all of us who wish we have a few magical powers.

How fun! This is a slightly creepy cozy mystery that is perfect for spooky season. Like many cozies, it isn't intended to be super shocking, but I had fun getting to the end.

It was written well and the characters are described well. I disliked one of the side characters. But the main character Mia Malone is great. The narrator did a great job reading this book.  The author did a great job writing this book.  It will keep your attention from the first minute of listening to this book. This book is set in a quirky town in Idaho. I highly recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. This is the first book in the kitchen witch series. It will be in stores on January 26, for $8.99 (USD).

I'm usually not a fan of 'magic' books, but this is had likeable characters and a good story.

I do love a good witchy cozy mystery and this one definitely qualifies. A murder occurs in the book and the main character, Mia, has to prove her innocents. The characters are nicely fleshed out and they really were extremely likeable. This was a wonderful start to a new series.

The cover really got my attention and is the best thing about the book. It, like the title, is misleading. No poison, no pie, no magic, no witchiness. Several of the characters are supposed to be witches, but they don't do anything with it, no real powers or results. It is, essentially, a mainstream cozy. The the stereotypical single female main character recovering from a bad breakup who goes home and reinvents herself. The romance, or talk/thoughts of men, sex, relationships is heavy.

The mystery isn't really a mystery, we basically know who did it and why, but the proof is what is uncovered.

Overall, it was an ok, light read, but doesn't hit the mark on what it seems to be selling itself as.

One Poison Pie by Lynn Cahoon is the first full length book in the cozy Kitchen Witch Mysteries series but not the first book as the description suggests as there is a prequel novella that also goes with the series. As with most cozy mysteries though each book of the series do contain their own mystery within so they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. There is however characters development that carries over from book to book for those that follow the series from the beginning.

In the prequel novella in the series readers were introduced to Mia Malone who had traveled back to her hometown of Magic Springs, Idaho at the urging of her grandmother who Mia fondly calls Grans. Magic Springs is a place where magic is out in the open and Mia’s family is far from normal with Mia inheriting her Grans magical abilities and she now uses that witchcraft to create her tasty culinary treats.

Since that trip back to Magic Springs though Mia’s world has fallen apart with Mia finding herself single when her boyfriend leaves her and also unemployed. Mia decides that the best thing to do is to return to Magic Springs for good where she can use her magic in a gourmet dinner delivery business. Things all seem to be falling into place until Mia’s new client is found murdered and she ends up on the suspect list and looking to clear her name.

The Kitchen Witch Mysteries series immediately had two things going for it before I ever even picked up the first book. One would be that I have read this author many times before and always enjoy her cozy mysteries. The second was that being a fan of crossover genre books this one had the touch of paranormal to it with the protagonist being a witch. Having gotten to know the characters in the prequel then I knew I was in for some fun with this first full length book and I was not wrong. I will definitely be back for book two after enjoying this and the prequel.

This is the first book I’ve read in the Country Store series. But this one was so enjoyable, that I’ll definitely be reading more ... even going back to the first one in the series. The characters are well developed, the mystery is intriguing and keeps you interested, and the recipes will have your mouth watering. This was a wonderful book to curl up with a glass of lemonade in a rocking chair on the porch and get lost in all of the antics.

This is a paranormal cozy mystery, and this is the first book in the Kitchen Witch series. I have read and review the 0.50 book in this series that came out before this book. I really love this book. The characters where fun and developed. I really enjoyed following these characters while they solve this mystery in this book. There is twists and turns in this book, and I really enjoyed all the twists and turn. I cannot wait for the second book in this series. I hope the book goes more into the magic. I do not feel the magic was explain in this book very well, but I do not think it hurt the book any. Cozy mysteries have always been a comfort to me and the magical ones have been even more interesting to me. This was particularly interesting because of the concept of hidden magic. I love the idea of different types of magic and kitchen magic has always been one that intrigued me. I have read several books that use it as a magical element and it’s usually so interesting and fun. This book was no different.

I appreciated the different elements that were inserted and how this is the way that we were taught about the world and what is all happening. We got to the bottom of one big mystery, but there are still questions to be answered and problems that will need to be solved.

I am interested to see where this series goes and what ends up happening in the small town of Magic Springs, Idaho. I gave this a 4 out of 5.

Her first catering job for her grandmother’s best friend Adele’s birthday ends quite distastefully when Adele is found stabbed to death right before the party. Mia is shocked that she is considered a suspect. With the help of her gran, her roommate Christina, Trent the local grocery store owner and a hunky witch who could totally be boyfriend material, and Levi Trents brother and an EMT, they look for clues as to who could have wanted Adele dead. Before Mia ends up dead herself.
