Once it gets going this is a fun one. I really enjoy the varied characters, each with very distinct personalities. The plot evolves constantly and surprisingly

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books for a copy of "One Poison Pie" in exchange for an honest review.

"One Poison Pie" is the second in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries. This follows the "Chili Cauldron Curse" novella which introduced us to Mia Malone and her grandmother Mary Alice Carpenter. They are both kitchen witches - meaning that their magic has more to do with colours, foods and the process of making a house into a home. The setting is Magic Springs, Idaho where Mia moved when she broke up with her former boss and boyfriend Isaac Adams. She bought an old schoolhouse which she has been renovating in order to open her 'Mia's Morsels' catering business. Isaac is still causing Mia grief by insisting that he have her cookbook, which he feels he owns. Isaac's 19 year-old sister Christina Adams was taken in by Mia in the "Chili Cauldron Curse" and has become a good friend to her - if not the family they thought they might be.

Sadly Mr. Darcy - the cat and Mia's former familiar, doesn't play a huge role in this book. He's been having issues since he picked up the spirit of Dorian Alexander, Gran's former beau before his untimely death. Now a ragdoll named Gloria is her familiar.

Mark Baldwin is the town's only police officer, Trent Majors owns Major's Grocery and hopefully in future books he might get closer to Mia. Trent's younger brother Levi works as an EMT but he's also a warlock in the Magic Springs Coven. Trent also has powers and has been of immense assistance to Mia.

Mia has her first paying client, her Gran's bestfriend Adele Simpson - who is known as the meanest, most demanding woman in the entire county. Adele is soon found dead in the Lodge's ballroom. Who would want to kill her? Who stole Mia's chef knife? While catering another event her corkscrew goes missing. John Louis the local real estate agent had put in a bid for the schoolhouse and is being a very sore loser. There are threatening phone calls, an attack that lands Mia in the hospital, and all sorts of characters arriving at the schoolhouse with evil intent. While in hospital Mia is visited by a ghost named Dorothy Purcell who guides her to answers. She also warns her that there is a storm coming. The balance of power in Magic Springs has been noticed and the dark side wants it stopped. A war with the dark side might be coming in the next book.

This is a very exciting new series with wonderful, engaging characters. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where our next visit will take us.

I was hooked from the beginning reading this new series by a favorite author. I enjoyed meeting Mia and Gran and all the other quirky characters in this new book.
A little paranormal, a little romance , and a murder investigation bring this story to life.
Fans of this series are going to enjoy this new series.

I received a copy of One Poison Pie through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

One Poison Pie is the first full book in the new Kitchen Witch Mystery series, with a novella to start off the series. In this cozy paranormal mystery, Mia, a kitchen witch and caterer, has just bought an old school and is in the process of turning it into her new business headquarters. When murder strikes, Mia is thrown into an adventure of trying to find the killer as well as figure out who is trying to get in the way of her opening her new business.

I enjoyed this cozy mystery and think that it is a good start to a new series by an author I love. Every time you think you know where this story is going, another twist or turn is thrown your way and you start to rethink everything you thought you knew was true. When I started reading this book I thought I knew who was the murderer from the very beginning, but was I ever wrong! The twists and turns in this mystery will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can. If you are looking for engaging characters, intriguing mystery, good food and a hint of the paranormal, this series is for you. I am looking forward to seeing what the next installment in this series holds and recommend giving this new series a try.

Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and Kensington Books.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

In this new series, a kitchen witch moves back home to her grandmother’s place when she catches he fiancé cheating on her. We are in a small town in Idaho where magic is openly used and a haven for witches and warlocks as she opens a gourmet dinner delivery.

But her first catering job turns into a nightmare when the client’s body is stuffed under the head table. Will this be her first and last job as a catering if she does not find the killer?

This is another charming series from one of leading mystery writers.

This book has all the ingredients of a great cozy, a little paranormal, a little romance, a strong main character with super supportive friends/family and best of all its a culinary cozy! I read this story in one day, it was so good that I just could not put it down and have already downloaded the one before it so that I can start at the beginning. Not that you need to know how Mia ended up in Magic Springs or what trouble she became mixed up in shortly after she arrived. Mia is a different type of witch, a kitchen witch. I instantly think of those little stuffed dolls that were popular in the early 80s and have the sudden desire to get one and name it Mia. Mia's familiar/kitchen doll is named Gloria and I am absolutely mesmerized by the character development that went on to show the relationship between Mia and Gloria. I like how Mia makes mental lists to keep herself on track, or to at least try and keep herself on track. She is definitely wavering when it come to Trent Majors, and who could blame her after the last guy, he who shall not be named/Isaac. Magic Springs is definitely a magical place and I am eager to read the next book as well as trying out new recipes.

This is an intriguing mystery. Ms. Cahoon does a great job introducing possible murder suspects. I enjoyed meeting Mia Malone, her Grans and Christina, her ex-fiance's sister. I am looking forward to reading more about what's developing between Mia and Trent Majors. Also I am sure whatever darkness Mia has been warned about in this book will make for a compelling story.

"One Poison Pie" the first instalment in the "Kitchen Witch" Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. I loved visiting Magic Springs, Idaho again and catching up with Mia, Grans and Christina!

I found myself engrossed in the story and really enjoying the new side characters of Trent and James. It was entertaining, full of twists and turns that kept me guessing till the very end.

I cant wait to see what happens next for Mia and her friends. I am sad I have to wait till July 2021 to read Book 2 "Two Wicked Desserts"

I highly recommend this new series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. This is the first book in a new (Kitchen Witch) series. It’s preceded by a novella, ‘Chili Cauldron Curse’ but can easily be read as a stand-alone. Mia Malone is a kitchen witch who’s moved to her grandmother’s town of Magic Springs, Idaho, where magic is actively practiced. Mia’s renovating an old school where she’ll live while also doing cooking classes, catering and meal deliveries. Mia faces her first big challenge when she agrees to cater a birthday party for her grandmother’s best friend, who is also the pickiest person in town. When Adele is murdered on the morning of the party, Mia is suddenly the main suspect. Mia’s life is also complicated by a local developer who is badmouthing her around town and by the arrival of her hideous ex-boyfriend. There are several possible suspects who Adele rankled, and Mia’s determined to solve the murder so she can help her grandmother say goodbye to Adele properly.
The mystery is well plotted and there are several possible suspects to consider. There are also things that are left unresolved to support future storylines. Mia is an interesting protagonist and the magic is fun but not overwhelming.

I was entranced by the magic in this book. It wasn't in your face and comic magic. The magic the main character has in this is something that is believable and it make the book so much more entertaining. The author has taken the idea of a mystery crime solving book and made it fun and suspenseful at the same time. Mia and Trent are make and adorable couple and I cant wait to see what happens in book two ( which i already preordered as soon as I read this along with a hard copy of this book). The cliff hanger at the end of One Poison Pie was also a nice addition and sets up for book two better than any other book series in this genre that I have read.

This is a new paranormal kitchen witch series from Lynn Cahoon that follows a woman named Mia who is setting up a catering business in Magic Springs, Idaho. I have read of of Lynn Cahoon's previous cozies and adore her books. This was a fun read that has Mia trying to clear her name after a major town citizen is found dead before a big event Mia's catering. The series delves into her relationships with her loser ex, a cute local grocer who is also from a witchy family and a sinister developer who is not too happy with her. The only gripe I have is I wanted more magic. I have a feeling Mia's magic will continue to emerge the longer she's in Magic Springs and the longer the series develops. Overall an entertaining story and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Mia is back in action trying to get her new business venture off the ground in Magic Springs when her first catering client is found dead. Once again Mia finds herself at the center of the storm as she quickly tries to untangle all the webs of deception in order to solve the crime before someone she loves becomes the next victim. Add in the a few nefarious characters from both the past and the present and you have a pile of potential suspects to sort through! Great characters that are easy to connect with make a wonderfully woven plot even more enjoyable! I absolutely can't wait to read what happens next for the residents of Magic Valley.

We are very excited about Ms. Cahoon’s newest series. The Kitchen Witch!

Mia Malone is a kitchen witch. And when her kind of fiance’ leaves her she is not only alone but unemployed, with her ex taking credit for all of her recipes. Well, most of them. And he wants to get his greedy little hands on all of them and is not above breaking a few laws to do it.

Mia moves back in with her grandmother in Idaho, where being magical is not a punishable offense, instead, it is right out in the open and all magicals are welcome.

Mia is running a gourmet delivery business, with a dash of magic, to kick off her business. A bit overwhelmed, it seems like a blessing when her nasty ex-fiance’s sister, Christina comes needing a place to stay. Mia loves Christina and has no qualms about bringing her into the fold.

At her first catering job, her client is found dead. Stabbed and stuffed under a table. Shocked to find out she is a suspect when one of her knives disappears she is also looking pretty good at being the next body under the table.

With Christina, her grandma, and her grandma’s connections, she sets out to find a killer and solve a mystery before she or someone she loves ends up dead.

Grandma was just the right amount of meddling in Mia’s affairs. There is a sub-plot with Christina and the Ex going on and a lot of miscommunication.

This is the first of a new series for Lynn Cahoon, who is a master at cozy mysteries. She is one of those writers whose works I read before they come out to the public every time.

Congrats on a winner!

Mia Malone (caterer, kitchen witch) moves to Magic Springs after her break up, to the town her grandmother lives, ready for a new chapter in her life. She buys the old school house and starts renovating to house her catering business Mia Morsels. Her first gig, before officially opening, finds grans best friend with a knife in her body. She quickly becomes a prime suspect, and with the help of her gran, Christina (her ex’s sister), Trent (local grocer, and not fully admitting his paranormal abilities) and his brother Levi.
Great starts of this paranormal cozy mystery, good old fashion sleuthing, with spells that don’t interfere with investigations.
Looking forward to the next book
Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley the pre-read.

One Poison Pie was the third paranormal cozy mystery I’ve read in the last three weeks and I liked it a lot.
I can affirm I have found a new genre I enjoy.

There is a novella before this book that I haven’t read but I easily followed Mia’s journey from here.

Mia Malone is a chef and a kitchen witch with the power of healing with food.
She is back in Magic Springs to start her own catering company but her first job doesn’t go as expected and from that on she won’t have a moment of peace.
With a killer on the loose she will try to make her business strive, but it seems that troubles follow her everywhere.

Lynn Cahoon leads us on a very well planned adventure of mystery, murder and family and friends bonding.

It won’t be easy to guess who is the murderer because there are so many people who had good reasons to commit the crime. I was so invested into the story I kept point my finger at someone only to change my mind in the next page.

This was the first book written by this author I’ve read but I’m already looking dorward to the next one in the series because she made me so curious with that ending.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of ONE POISON PIE (Book 1 of the Kitchen Witch Mysteries) by Lynn Cahoon in exchange for an honest review. Following the breakup of her engagement, kitchen witch Mia Malone moved to Magic Springs, Idaho, to be near her grandmother. Mia is in the process of renovating an old school where she plans to live while running a business featuring cooking classes, catering, and meal home-delivery. Mia’s first catering client is her grandmother’s prickly best friend Adele who hires Mia to supply the food for the Adele’s birthday party. When Adele is murdered on the morning of her party, Mia admits to finding the woman annoying and becomes a suspect in the homicide. The local developer who wanted Mia’s new property plots his revenge and delights in slanderously slurring Mia to everyone in town. Meanwhile, her ex-fiancé follows his sister Christina to Magic Springs and also seems determined to cause Mia trouble. Can Mia identify the killer before her business fails even before its opening?

This book follows a prequel short story CHILI CAULDRON CURSE. In general, I’m a fan of Lynn Cahoon’s books.

The first full book of a new series can be the opening of a fun, new adventure, but similar to “a box of chocolates,” to quote Forrest Gump, it can also be chocked full of characters, some that will stay with the series and some that are passing through. This can sometimes make that first book seem more jumbled and I found this to be the case in One Poison Pie, the first in Lynn Cahoon’s newest A Kitchen Witch Mystery series. I like Mia Malone, the series central character and a kitchen witch, and look forward to seeing her and her closest cohorts again. That said, I felt that the book was a bit too busy so many characters, good and bad, and an overabundance of things going on. I found the book a bit difficult to get into at first but then read the last 60% in an afternoon, so it definitely kept my interest. I do have a couple of minor complaints: a couple of things that occurred in this book clearly reference something in future books and I felt the ending sort of came out of left field. Three stars.

I was given a free copy of this book by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions stated are solely my own.
