There are a lot of books being published that focus on race, racism and how to get along with people who do not share your point of view regarding matters of race. Speaking of Race by Patricia Roberts-Miller is one such book. While there was nothing earth-shattering in this short book, it is a worthwhile addition to most public library collections. It is brief and may appeal to readers who do not want to wade into the depths of a longer exploration of the topic. The author succeeds in effectively removing emotions from the discussion, which makes the material much more accessible.

This book provides a good beginning point for those that would like to have “that” conversation, but not sure how to start. Yes, this is a very difficult conversation, but in many instances, we must. There are a lot of books on this subject matter, some better than others like with any subject of books. Essential reading in my opinion. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.
