I thought this was a fun manga. I don’t have too much to really say about this aside from I enjoyed my time reading it. I will be continuing on with the series.
It was very fast paced right from the start with little to go off of as to what is going on. However later in the manga it became much more compelling with more of a slow build to what was happening.
Without a doubt I loved the art style!

I have read a few manga novels in the past and have enjoyed most that I have read. This was good, but I felt the story was lacking slightly. At times it felt slow and other times it felt like the story was going to quick and the main plot was being missed. This art style in this manga was beautifully done. I may try volume to in the future.

The manga tells us about Guideau a girl who has been cursed by a witch, together with Ashaf they look for said witch to break the curse she cast on the protagonist, the only way that this curse is broken is for the witch to cancel it or that she is killed, but there is also a third way that is revealed to us in this first shot, and that is that if the protagonist kisses any witch, the curse is canceled for a few minutes. In this first volume we learn a little about witches and their powers and how our protagonists look for the witch who cast the curse (a task that is not so simple). One of the things that I enjoy is the characters that are not the characters that you see and say are the good ones, on the contrary they are rough and people tend to doubt them. But they will not hesitate to help people who are in danger from witches. The story is interesting and the drawing is striking with detailed scenes, especially those of action.
A recommended manga, for me it was a reading to end the year, and that leaves you hooked for the next volume.

While the art is beautiful, I couldn't get into this one. I didn't understand and didn't really care to.

I have read much famous manna like Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Death note, bleach, etc. I still follow one piece, every week I land on the viz site to read the latest episode. So when I saw a manga available on Netgalley I applied for the review copy. I got it eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The book I got had 3-4 chapters of "The Witch and the Beast 1". The protagonist duos are pair of the beast (Guideau) and a magician (Ashraf) working with order. The prime goal of (Guideau to capture the witch who gave her a curse. The book covers 1 full and one-half adventure of the duo. Read the book to know more.

The story is entertaining and dramatic. The Mangaka, Kausuke, had a good grip over the story as well as the artwork. Characters and detailing of artwork were visible throughout the comic.

I liked it. Would give it 3.5 out of 5.

The witch and the beast is a graphic novel series by Kousuke Satake.

The story follows Ashaf and Guideau on their hunt for a witch who placed a curse long ago. They definitely aren't afraid to go through anyone in their way.

The witch and the beast is a pretty quick graphic novel. It flows well but the story line was kind of flat. The start is on the slower side but it does start to build. However, I found it a little too plain without enough depth for the first in a series.

Working for the Order of Magical Resonance, Ashaf and Guideau solve any magical problem that comes their way. Whether it’s murderous magical mischief or opening a chest locked by magic, the duo are on it. However, there’s more to the duo that meets the eye, and Guideau has some serious beef with any witch who crosses their path.

I picked this up because it looked and sounded like an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast, and I was certainly not disappointed. It opens with a fast-paced story that demonstrates how evil witches are viewed in the world the characters live in. Of course, there’s a seemingly nice witch who turns out not to be all that meets the eye, and that’s when we learn why Guideau is furious with any and all witches.

As the story progresses, we learn a tiny bit more about the Order of Magical Resonance, but not much. This volume is more of an introduction to the story than anything. Think of it as the opening episode to a new television series. It introduces us to the main characters and the plot, but it leaves its readers with many questions that will be answered throughout the series. I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near as dark as it was, but I did still enjoy it. I plan on checking out the next volume and seeing where the story goes next.

I like the art very much so and I think it helps set the tone of the story. The story so far has me intrigued and I could see myself reading other volumes.

The debut manga by Kousuke Satake. Described as part Fullmetal Alchemist and part Cowboy Bebop, a feral girl and softspoken man come to a town to save it from a witch. The two main characters are looking for a specific witch but while that is their first priority they are taking jobs helping others while they try to find more intel on the witch who cursed them.

Everything was so mysterious. The story just starts, there is no long explanation, but you don't feel confused in a bad way. Instead, you want to hurry up and read more so you can find out what is going on. It was very well done.

As a reviewer, I read a lot of books and have a notebook I keep to take notes if something stands out. Once I finished The Witch and the Beast I realized that I had gotten so into the story I had not taken any notes at all. I cannot wait to continue the story and have bought all three volumes that are now out.

The first time I opened this manga, I only read the first twenty pages and then put it aside for the next few weeks. I think I was not convinced by the drawings. I feel like sometimes the faces are not well proportionated, especially with the two main characters, their faces are sometimes really weird.
I am glad I finally finished it though. The story is quite good and very promising. I think the beginning might be a bit confusing but most of the things are then explained. I wasn’t connived by the main characters at the beginning but by the end, I liked them better. The story ends on a certain mystery which is intense and really makes me want to read the next volume. I would recommend this manga to fans of fantasy.

I really enjoyed this one but it felt lacking where characters were concerned. I felt the plot was fairly good though.
But I cant see myself reading anymore of the series

I really wanted to like this manga; it sounded like one that I'd really enjoy. Whilst I loved the artwork and it's definitely up there with some of my favourites stylewise, I wasn't too keen on the story in the end and found it a bit hard going to get into.

This one is interesting. The art is bold and often dark to reflect the atmosphere as well as what the character are portraying to the outside world. I wouldn't call it the most pleasing style I have ever seen, but it obviously serves a purpose and is well done.

The story kind of just throws you right in. It takes over half the book just to figure out who Ashaf and Guideau are working for, in a super generalized way. While you get a quick glimpse of who Guideau might be <i>(as in literally get to see, but have no idea what you're seeing)</i>, you don't actually get a full blown answer <i>(or an answer at all really)</i> and might even have more questions after than before the 'preview' of Guideau.

Ashaf himself is a bit mysterious for a good chunk of the book before you get a better answer as to what he is than Gideau. But it's still super 'one facet' of person who could be a very complicated person. But one thing is for sure, Guideau has a hate on for witches, well one in particular, even though she's not sure who it is. Ashaf is 100% her handler.

Overall, the answers to all key questions are super vague, and 100% done that way on purpose. I think it's meant to kind of suck you in, but I just found myself annoyed with it. Pick one or two mysteries to hold over a reader, not ALL of them. If you're like me, maybe wait until you an get your hands on a few volumes at once because I am hoping some answers will be given in the 2nd volume. I probably would have rated this volume better if the author had thrown me a proper bone to gnaw on while waiting for the bigger questions to be answered.

What makes up for this, a bit at least, is mystery that seems to surround their cases and some decent action sequences. Each case gets worked through and, at least for these 'mini episodes', you get most of your questions answered. Overall I'd peg this series as sort of a mystery, suspense, action/thriller type vibe of a story.

For a debut, this is a well-done manga. The art is gorgeous and the story has a nice quest vibe with some grotesque horror/murder bits on the side. Guideau is a beastly girl accompanying Ashaf, a man who carries a coffin on his back. Together they hunt witches, for witches can only do evil in the world, despite what some may say or believe.

A decent first volume, though I am on the fence about continuing the series.

Ummmm...this was interesting enough, but I got bored after they defeated the witch. I don't get it much at all plot wise. This definitely fell short for me.

An interesting start to the series but which lacks a little something...
The story is quite mysterious for the moment: we discover Guideau, a young woman visibly under the influence of a witch curse, and Ashaf, his strange companion who carries a coffin on the back. Well...we don't learn much more. We know that they are looking for a particular witch and that they will intervene in all matters relating to them, but that's all. We're immersed in the plot as everything was obvious, which can read a bit complicated because we don't know what to focus on. But this is the first volume, so to see it later.
For the drawing, the line's pretty, and the action scenes both very gloomy and full of action. It goes well with the title, which isn't for everyone but will appeal to those who are not afraid of hemoglobin.

In short, an interesting reading even if it's a little too fuzzy for the moment, to see later! ^^

'The Witch and the Beast, Vol. 1' by Kousuke Satake is a manga about witches and the supernatural beings hired to kill them.

Guidreau is a feral girl with fangs and a serious thirst for killing witches. Her partner Ashaf has a coffin strapped to his back and will take any job involving magic. The story starts with them convincing a village the the witch they see as a hero has actually enthralled them for her safety.

I like the idea of this series and the main characters seem really cool. I had a bit of a hard time getting in to the story as it just kind of dumps the reader right in the middle, but by the end, I was on board. The art is gothic and creepy.

I love the art style! I love the darker theme of having to chase down a witch that put a curse on our female main character but I I felt so confused at times... I was thrown into this world and had to play catch up the whole time. Now, I don't need a book to hold my hand and over explain but some explanation is needed for the reader know what's going on. It does get better as you go but for the first little bit I was just left scratching my head.

So if you can hang in there, it gets pretty good!

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was very disappointed. This is such a generic fantasy, and I couldn’t understand what was happening. The art is beautiful, but that’s all. The characters are paper thin, the plot is slow, and it was a slog. If it wasn’t for the gorgeous art style, this would’ve been easily forgotten.
