This book was referred to me by a FaceBook page for thriller/psychological lovers and I'm so glad they did. What a ride! I will definitely read more by Alex Day. Thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title.

Started off a bit slow but definitely picked up. Good writing, some twists and turns I didn't see coming with a satisfying ending (for me). All in all I found it very enjoyable. Thank you so much

Wow a roller coaster of a book. Two main women fighting for the same man in a great whodunit type of book. I'm usually great at working out who the culprit is but this had me guessing until the very end. Loved it

Thank you to NetGalley and to HarperCollins UK One More Chapter for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Based on all the thrillers I have read lately this had to been my least favorite one. I just felt like this one was a little too predictable. I do want to say that I have read a lot of suspense/thrillers so the bar is set very high. Plenty of people will find this book very good.
I'm not saying it was terrible at all. I read all of it and it did keep my attention, it was just that something was lacking for me.

Susannah moves to a small village after her divorce and strikes up a friendship with Charlotte who seems to have the perfect marriage money, children and a handsome husband Dan who is every woman's fantasy in the village. But are Susannah and Charlotte really such good friends ? or are they playing games with each other ? This book is a terrific read and although it is still early i would say it is one of the best books i will read this year, the short sharp chapters towards the end kept me turning the pages well into the night as i was left wondering just who did what, this a triumph of a book by Alex Day.Without a doubt a cracking 5 star read.

I was not a fan of this book and it felt boring just so hard to get through it. It just wasn’t enough suspense for me.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

This story is told by 2 best friends Susannah and Charlotte. Charlotte has it all the dream home, the perfect children and of course Dan the most handsome not so perfect rich husband. Then there is poor Susannah she has her children but she has lost everything else. Both women have their own secrets and maybe they are not the friends they pretend to be especially where Dan is concerned.

This is a story of secrets and lies a psychological thriller with some twists and turns 4 stars

Susannah is just getting done with a bad divorce. She and her two sons have moved to a new town to start a new life. There she meets Charlotte, and they become best friends.
Charlotte is married with four boys. Her marriage is not going well. Her husband, Dan is always at work and hardly spends time at home with her and the kids. Besides, she thinks her husband and Naomi from the tennis club are having an affair. Lots of things for two women who are best friends to talk about, a bad divorce and a tumultuous marriage.
I was given this book to read and review by the publisher through Netgalley.
This is a great psychological thriller. Keeps you guessing to the very end.

This book is definitely a very slow burn for sure but the suspense still got me. The amount of lies and deceit was off the charts between Charlotte and Susannah. I loved the dual points of view in the story, it really added to the layers of suspense and thrill. This book made me question a few of my own friendships, this book really does that. I liked enjoyed it and love the cover too.

Highly recommended even though it is a slow burn suspense. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I read a different book by Alex Day at the of 2020 and loved it. I look forward to more by this author.

Another page turner told from two different viewpoints, with each women hiding a secret and working hard to keep it hidden. I really enjoyed this one as well.

Susannah and her children have moved to a new village after a messy divorce. Charlotte, the one woman who tries to make a connection with Susannah, appears to be a life saver inviting her children to parties and including her in the local forage club. This fast paced thriller explores the journey of their friendship and how things aren’t always what they seem. A great read !

This felt a bit like “You” by Caroline Keynes at the start but swiftly moved in to a toxic relationship between female friends.

Susannah is new to the area and is hoping to make a new start after a horrible divorce. Her two son’s get on well with Charlotte’s son’s and soon they have a close friendship. Charlotte appears to have everything anyone could want and soon makes it clear she will do anything to keep it..

This didn’t grip me or excite me, and the twists weren’t really too shocking because it was quite a slow paced novel.

The synopsis of this book is exactly the type of story I love and can immerse myself in but The Best of Friends was too much of a slow burn for me. I initially downloaded this ARC on the 11th January but reading it was full of stops and starts for me because it didn’t grab my attention for long enough meaning that it’s now the 31st January and I’ve only just finished it after reading other books in between.
Adult female relationships, differing points of view, toxic relationships and secrets should be the recipe for an excellent book but this one fell short.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC copy of THE BEST OF FRIENDS. This story was intriguing and unique. I just didn't connect to the characters as much as I wanted to or have with other books. The writing was well done though.

Super twisty thrill ride! I was pulled in from the first page! Rich, flawed, slightly unlikeable characters drive a well orchestrated plot. A cat and mouse caper...but who is the cat and who is the mouse! Lots of red herrings and just when you think you might have it figured, another twist.

The Best of Friends by Alex Day will appeal to all who love to immerse themselves in a domestic thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.

Meet Susannah and Charlotte. Susannah has recently moved to the south of England with her two sons following a difficult divorce. Charlotte, a woman whose life appears to be perfect by all outward appearances, is delighted to welcome Susannah to the village, longing for a friend in whom to confide, and to help alleviate the tedium of daily life. As the two women form a bond, it soon becomes apparent that this is a friendship that has been built on a foundation of lies. Told from the alternating perspectives of each woman, acts of betrayal will out one of the friends as not being the woman she purports herself to be. But just how much deceit can one friendship withstand before lives are changed forever?

Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for an ARC of this title.

Thanks to netgalley for ARC of this book, for an honest opinion.

In my opinion, this book starts out very slow, for the first half, I just kept setting it down. Then, the second half drew me in, and kept me up very late! If you can make it through the first half, the rest is well worth reading.
