This is a great read if you like something dark and intense. Bridget witnesses a child being kidnapped on her way home, no one else sees it happening or do they? Bridget knows what she saw but why wont anyone believe her? so she goes on a quest to find out who the little was and why she was taken from the platform. We also delve more into Bridget's background which unearths some very interesting things. I feel as though we really get into Bridget's head on how she is feeling and what she is really thinking. I really enjoyed this read and I reckon it would be great if it was made into a film.

Dark, chilling and seriously addictive, I loved this! The main character of the book is really relatable, as the busy and exhausted mum of a young baby and I really felt her vulnerability. The plot develops cleverly and slowly and really drew me in with its twists and turns and careful interweaving. I guessed the ending about half way through but this certainly didn’t detract and I found myself racing to the end to see how all the ends tied together. Very enjoyable, recommended.

Bridge is a new Mum who has returned to work. Her husband, Tom, is the child-minder for Grace, their daughter. With only one salary coming in, things are tough. Bridge also takes medication - and is a great worrier To top it off - she is jealous about not being to be able to stay at home with Grace.

One night as Bridge trudges home on the train from another long and exhausting day of work, she sees a little girl being pulled into a van by two men from her train window. No one else sees this, and the train was moving during the action. This fuels all sorts of problems with Tom and the news stations do not have any stories about it.

Yet...

An interesting read! Recommend.

I love this genre, but I had a hard time staying fully engaged. There were a few surprise twists, which I did enjoy. The book, overall, was okay, but the ending was great!

The Girl on the Platform is an engaging  but slow-burn psychological thriller.

Mathematician and new mom Bridget who is suffering from postnatal depression, witnesses a child being kidnapped from a railway platform while on the train back home from work. Horrified, she alerts the police, but since she was the only one who saw the crime, no-one believes her and soon the whole incident is brushed away as a hallucination - a result of her medications. Taking matters into her own hands, Bridget begins to look into the incident, but things take a sinister turn endangering her family.

I struggled with this book at first because the blurb and reviews had promised a dark and absorbing thriller but all that I was reading was the self-loathing and crazy obsession of a sleep-deprived and depressed working mother. It wasn't until after 60% of the book that the plot picked up pace, things started to fall in place and everything until then began to make sense.

While I wasn't a fan initially, the latter half of the book totally redeemed any misgivings I may have had. The brilliant manner in which the climax unfolds is absolutely mind-blowing.

Overall, I found this to be a compelling read with a shocking end.

At first I thought this would be similar to other recent thrillers but it was a real page turner. Bridget thinks she sees a kidnapping on a train platform, but there are no other witnesses, setting this story into motion. I appreciated the treatment of post-partum issues and never saw the twist coming!

This book is engaging and suspenseful. It begins with an exhausted working mother witnessing a kidnapping that no one else saw or reported. Feeling a heavy responsibility to rescue a child no one else is looking for, she becomes consumed with her own investigation, impacting her work and family life and leading her to revelations about her own life. Although the back story involved in the ending seemed a bit convoluted to me, overall I enjoyed this psychological thriller which I consumed quickly.

Any reader that loves these psychological thrillers knows that a lot of them are so much alike and this one was the same. The book was good but fell into so many others stories. If you don't mind that then you'll really enjoy this book but for me I like to read different stories unlike others written.

Wow, did I tear through this book!

Bridget, the m.c. is not living her best life when readers meet her. She is struggling with post natal depression, being a new mom in general, accepting her physical body, negotiating her job/mom/partner duties, not really sleeping, and struggling to understand what is and is not real. Also, it is apparent from the jump that her mother is absolute trash. It seems just Bridget's luck that she would - in this stellar time of her life - be the only witness to a young girl's kidnapping on her train ride home from work one night. Through these early scenes and all through to the end of the novel, it's easy to understand why Bridget's grasp on reality is so tenuous, and Pearce makes readers feel that uncertainty right along with her.

While I think the central mystery is way too obvious (I'm not one to try to figure out what is happening early on, but this was just too clear to ignore), I still liked a lot here. The pacing is excellent; the plot moves quickly, and the interspersed scenes from a young girl's perspective versus the standard characters' actions flow seamlessly. The villains are truly awful, and while Bridget makes decisions that seem confusing, ill advised, etc. most of the time, it's easy to build sympathy for her.

If you are the kind of mystery reader who likes a lot of twists, surprises, misdirects, etc., this may not be exactly your brand. However, I found this to be a solid mystery and thriller, a speedy and enjoyable read, and a great use of a tortured, un/reliable narrator. I am excited to read more from Pearce.

The Girl on the Platform by Bryony Pearce is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing from page one. Bridget is suffering from the effects of postpartum depression. She witnesses a kidnapping from a moving commuter train, but no one believes her. You are given glimpses of the kidnapped child, but even with proof of this chid being held against her will you can not help but doubt if this is even real. Bridget’s life implodes from the inside as trying to find this missing child consumes everything she has. The characters are true to life and relatable which draws the reader even further. You can not help but try to figure out who to sympathize with and who is at fault. Trust me though, you will be shocked when it is not at all what it seems. I love this genre and this is one of the top five for me of the year. I had my daughter read it too, and she keeps flagging me off as she can not put the book down either. I was blown away by the ending and honestly can not stop thinking about it.

This was an excellent thriller telling the story of a young mother on the quest to save a child’s life, no matter what it might cost her. An excellent read!

But no one has been reported as being missing and nobody believes Bridget. Determined to find out the truth since no one else is interested, Bridget puts everything into trying to find the girl... I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down. The story was incredibly thrilling and tense and I couldn't wait to hear the truth. The twists and turns were brilliant and the ending shocking. With the great range of characters and fantastic plot, I really recommend this book.

Wow, this book was absolutely amazing!! I read the synopsis and I expected good things, but wow. I think this is possibly one of the best books I have read.

I read this book in one sitting. I was so absorbed and I just ignored the world around me (which isn't hard at the moment). This book was a great escape and is perfect for any fans of Girl on the Train.

This book had a wonderful twist at the end. Shocked me! But I did have a hard time sticking with it and found myself skimming more than anything. Overall I would say average with a great ending.
