"Meg used her voice to inspire people, to save their rainforests, to save themselves, because to Meg, a tree is not just a tree...It is essential for life on earth"

With gorgeous illustrations, this book tells the story of Meg Lowman and her lifelong dedication to being a leaf detective. Filled with quotes from Meg herself, this is a great STEM tale of a woman overcoming the sexism that run rampant through the science community. But not only that Meg Lowman went beyond just studying trees, she worked to save them and empower the people who lived with them.

The Leaf Detective is really and truly one of the best kid's books I've read in a long time. Margaret Lowman pretty much pioneered the study of rainforests *frim the canopy* despite many ridiculous men getting in her way early in her career simply because she's a girl. . Happily for science, and for forests everywhere, Meg persevered and quietly studied the trees and leaves around us, which play such an important part in our ecological system and in our societies and in our lives.
A truly inspiring story, and Jana Christy's artwork is fabulous. Highly recommended. So inspiring!
