Gina Lypaczewski and Claire Mariucci’s An American Mouse Goes to Italy is an easy little read with a cute mouse protagonist, yummy cheeses, and beautiful locations. Paula S. Wallace’s accompanying illustrations are lovely and fun.

Mooch is an American mouse who lives with human Miss Maria Francesca in a quiet town in the Midwest. One day, he takes a nap in her suitcase and wakes up in Italy! While Miss Maria Francesca enjoys her vacation and reconnects with her Italian heritage, Mooch has his own adventure. He finds himself surrounded by new sights, sounds, and more importantly: new cheeses!

This is an easy, creative, and fun read for young readers. The plot is straightforward and easy-to-follow while the language is approachable. This book has a gentle adventure neatly paired with a simple and accessible learning experience. Kids will love following along with Mooch as he explores the new and charming Italian house and discovers the fantastic world of Italian cheeses. At the same time, the book also introduces readers to some basic Italian vocabulary like the days of the week. There’s even a simple little glossary at the end of the book.

Little Mooch is such an adorable mouse. He loves cheese, exploring, and taking naps. I related to him a little too much!

I really like Wallace’s pretty and softly coloured full-page illustrations. They have some great details and are gently whimsical. I do wish the pictures were just a little more vibrant but they go wonderfully with the story.

This is a great book for kids who like learning about new things and going to new places! Adult readers may even learn a new Italian phrase or two!

Mooch the mouse snuggles in for a long nap. She is surprised to wake up in Italy. She sets off on an adventure to find new cheeses to eat. This book is cute, but not something I would want to read over and over again.

This was an adorable picture book, what I could see of it. I read an eARC copy, so the formatting of it on my eReader wasn't working, so I would recommend getting this book in "real" book format, so there will be no issues with seeing the cute pictures.

The art was cute and the story was one I can relate to. The poor mouse just wanted some cheese and not only got it, he got it in in Italy, which is someplace I have ALWAYS wanted to go. One of the reasons I want to go is for the food, so the mouse in this book was speaking my language, lol.

Very cute story and one that will appeal to children who enjoy stories with anthropomorphic animals, food and have curiosity of other places. Might be good for a child/ren who are going on a trip and are apprehensive about the plane ride. This treated the trip for the mouse in a cute way and showed him sleeping right through it without even realizing he had gone anywhere.

I recommend this one, it's just too cute! 4, to my spiritual mouse brother I want all the cheese too, stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and Concierge Marketing Inc./Rosemount FARM Publishing for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

I love a cute animal story for kids , it helps with their imagination and creative thinking. This story was just the perfect cute little story for kids to house a mouse loves to get his cheese and how they would live if they spoke and talked about what they would eat and where they would sleep. I love how the story in the book travels from America to Italy and back home . Very cute story I would have wished the illustrations were a little more than what they were it would have given the story a more up date look. Overall it is a book I would love to get in my library and I thank netgalley for the copy to read for an honest review.

I love that this book introduces Italian words to children as they are reading the story and then reinforces the words at the end of the book. The illustration were fun and Mooch is funny; I love the end when the button on his pants are undone because he ate too much cheese.

Thank you NetGalley for the DRC.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

An American Mouse goes to Italy is a beautiful picture book for children about a little house mouses adventure from America to Italy and all the delicious cheese he gets to taste. The house he lives in doesn't have much cheese and on his adventure he gets to try many different types of cheeses.
The illustrations are very cute and the story is sweet and simple for children. I enjoyed the words shown at the back of the book for children to learn in Italian too.

A charming adventure, whimsical illustrations, and fun, of the cheesy-kind! I read this with my young daughter who also enjoyed it. A lovely premise: Mooch the American mouse stows away (by accident!), and finds himself in Italy! As Miss Maria Francesca--his 'travel buddy'--takes time to reconnect with her family's Italian heritage, Mooch finds himself face to face with a selection of delightful Italian cheeses.

A lovely story that would also work well in the primary/elementary school classroom for young learners of Italian, given the inter-cultural knowledge and simple Italian vocabulary used throughout.

Mooch is a house mouse living with Miss Maria Francesca. Mooch loves to explore and just LOVES cheese. Alas, however, Miss Maria doesn’t have any cheese in her household.

Feeling dejected, Mooch decides to take a nap in a pair of Miss Maria’s warn and fuzzy mouse slippers. Unbeknownst to Mooch, Miss Maria has planned a trip to Italy to visit her grandparents. So little Mooch gets packed away and wakes up to a charming house in Italy. There in the house, Mooch is just overjoyed to find all the cheese his heart desires. From asiago to parmesan, Mooch is in heaven.

An American Mouse Goes to Italy is such a charming children’s fiction. The book contains adorable illustrations to match the cute story. I just loved how Mooch got to sample the various cheeses left about. To top it off, the reader gets to learn a little Italian while enjoying the book. There’s even a glossary of terms in the back of the book. Excellent! Five stars. I loved it.

I received a digital copy of the book from Concierge Marketing, Inc. through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
