I cannot believe that this book managed to outpace the first! From the very first pages and the introduction of the podcast, I was instantly rehooked into Pip’s world and her investigation. There were endless twists, even more development of Ravi and Pip’s characters, and some truly emotional moments. Highly recommend to fans of the first or fans of Truly Devious or Sadie.

Good Girl, Bad Blood picks up shortly where A Good Girl's Guide to Murder leaves off, and readers are treated early on to a fun surprise for how GGGTM got its name. Pip is finishing up her podcast related to the murders of Andie Bell and Sal Singh - the brother of Pip's boyfriend, Ravi -- and the trial of a local druggie and sex offender Pip helped bring charges against. But what should have been her first and only podcast (despite its, and her, popularity) quickly turns into a season 2 when her friend, Connor, comes to her for help finding his brother. Pip is once again in the detective seat, this time feeling the impending pressure of finding Connor's brother, Jamie, before it's too late. Pip and Ravi's relationship has evolved in a sweet, innocent way, and Ravi's quick wit and one-liners are ever present, to the delight of GGGTM fans. And while they're #relationshipgoals, Pip is still managing to try to be there for her friend, Cara, as she navigates life after the fallout from GGGTM #1. Friendship is a strong theme in this story, as is Pip's self-discovery of what it means to be a "good" person and a "bad" person as well as being her true self, not just what others expect of her. The plot was fast-paced, maybe even more so than the first book, as this one is truly a race against time. There are some interesting plot twists, some twists readers will see coming, and one glaring twist readers who are paying attention will catch just before the "big reveal", but all come together to make a really good read, especially for the YA audience. Definitely a good sequel, and I'm looking forward to the third in the trilogy!

**Technically can be read as a standalone since the basis of the plot is separate from GGGTM #1 but is much more enjoyable when familiar with the characters and plot from the first book in the series.**

A great continuation in the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. This title is a must have for fans of the series, as well as murder mysteries. Students in my school love this series and cannot wait to get their hand on this one as well. Good Girl, Bad Blood continues the journey of Pip and Ravi, as they navigate the aftermath of the events that unfolded in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Pip's podcast has become a viral hit, and with that comes new-found notoriety. Even though Pip is trying to leave solving murders to the experts, she cannot resist getting involved with one of her school-mates goes missing on the night of Andie Bell's memorial. What happened to Jamie and does it have anything to do with the mysterious threats Pip has been receiving?

I really enjoyed the second book of this year. I think its a fabulous YA novel that adults will also in enjoy. My biggest criticism and it's more for myself is that I didn't read this right after reading the first book so I was a little confused on the characters and trying to remember everything from the first novel. The ending sets up for the 3rd installment so I am looking forward to reading that one next.

I wasn’t so sure where this second book would take the story. I was pleasantly surprised that it was interesting and held my attention throughout. I like that the characters are growing even more in this book. On to the final book! Four stars!

I purchased this book for my high school library. My students have enjoyed it. and it has circulated well.

Pip is back, now famous with her podcast covering her investigation of the town's murders. I enjoyed the new mystery that Pip's friend asks her to solve (his brother has disappeared). This title is a good addition to any YA library collection with a readership that loves true crime.

I enjoyed being back in this world. The mystery wasn't quite as good as the first but I liked the characters.

I loved a A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and this was an exciting sequel. Pip is trying to avoid getting caught up in any mysteries after her Podcast of what happened to Andie Bell went viral. She is trying to deal with the aftermath of the consequences in chasing down a murderer and uncovering long hidden secrets. Then she finds herself involved in trying to find Jamie Reynolds who went missing during the Singh-Bell memorial. This was another good mystery with unexpected twists and an unexpected ending. I'll be honest, I was SURE this book would be a downgrade from the first installment in this series. It was never meant to be a series to begin with, and I thought an unintended, rushed sequel could never be as good as the first book.

As it turns out, it was better.

The first book was an absolutely wild ride of Pippa discovering the true nature of the Andie Bell case. This book follows the aftermath of her solving the case. It is rooted in reality, in the trauma Pippa endured from the dangerous situations she was in. It also shows that sometimes, the good guys don't win. A villain will sometimes get away with all the bad things he did.

The new case in this book is also more real. It isn't a murder from several years in the past that Pip thinks was incorrectly solved. There is a missing person that Pip is trying to find in real time before he goes from missing to dead. That adds a layer of tension in this book that wasn't present in the first. Yes, Pip was sometimes in danger because of her investigation, but in this book, someone's life hangs in the balance if she doesn't find him.

There are so many incredible things about this book as an exploration of the true crime podcast genre, asking the question, "What happens after the case is blown wide open and actual, real people have to pick up the pieces?" I thought it was nuanced and balanced and, at times, difficult to read. It feels real, and I had to remind myself several times that this was all fiction. That is the mark of a great story.

This was just as good as the original for me. It brought up more dark issues with an engaging mystery. The ending brought up a particularly sad and difficult topic that would definitely have a very divided audience. Looking forward to book three.

I enjoyed this book even though I didn't read the first one. This book has murder, romance, and mystery. The characters are easy to like. I would recommend this book and I can't wait to read the first one which I know will be just as good.

This sequel was everything I hoped it would be. The "Good Girl's Guide to Murder" podcast within the story was a perfect addition to help us remember the details from the first book and the mystery of Jamie's disappearance was well written to make it not feel like we had been there, done that.

Holly Jackson did it again! She's crafted a fantastic mystery that moves at break-neck speed! While it does feel difficult to wade into at first, she includes plenty of information early on to make sure that even readers who picked up A Good Girl's Guide to Murder years ago can have their memories jogged and thoroughly enjoy the plot.

This book had some really interesting twists involved that I had no clue were about to happen. As true with this series, there seems to always be a twist. Sometimes, I can guess it and other times I cannot. With this series, there is a twist I guess and a twist I'm never able to guess.

I knew there was going to be a twist involving one character, but I did not know the extent of that twist. I think the way Holly Jackson writes this series is really interesting where I can figure out who may be involved, but I can't quite figure out to what degree. I find Holly Jackson has found a pretty decent formula for her mysteries and utilizes them in both this book and the previous installment. I also find it interesting and more realistic when her characters have flaws based on their past experiences. Pip has been through a lot and she has visible trauma from it. I think that is what makes this book series stand out from other YA mystery books.

I highly recommend continuing the series. It takes a little bit to get into the story, but it is a fast read and keeps giving you a lot of information without giving you the full story.

I really liked this book and how she got over someone. I enjoyed the romance and the friendships. I liked she came to enjoy her family. I liked that she was able to get over a boy and move on with her life. Great story.

The series’ second book, Good Girl, Bad Blood, features Pip making a podcast of the investigation depicted in A Good Girl’s Guide. Both books have the casual, come-along-for-the-ride feel of some of my favorite investigative podcasts. The audiobooks — full-cast productions — are a particular treat.

The author pays particular attention to the emotional cost of conducting an investigation and producing a true-crime property. She highlights the damage Pip and the victims’ families and friends suffer as old wounds are reopened, raising questions about ethics many true-crime fans struggle with.

With both A Good Girl’s Guide and Good Girl, Bad Blood, I intended to read a chapter or two. Instead, I stayed up way too late and plowed through them in a single sitting. For adult fans looking for a quick, propulsive mystery, it’s hard to go wrong with Jackson’s books. — Elizabeth Held
