I was a huge, huge fan of Jackson's first book in this series and GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD did not disappoint as a sequel. After some thought on it as well, I think I may prefer this one to the first! Pip and her now-boyfriend Ravi are back, and Pip has gone somewhat viral with her podcast coverage of her investigation into the death of Andie Bell -- but Pip's life was turned upside down by that investigation and she has sworn off getting involved in anything else. That said, after her best friend's brother goes missing, Pip feels she has no choice but to dive right back into things, this time with the whole world listening as she leverages her podcast to garner attention for this missing persons case before time runs out.
As I said, I really enjoyed reading this sequel. I appreciated the oft-ignored part of teen mystery stories where we actually see how the teen detective in question deals with the often traumatic experience. Pip nearly died last time, and her family dog did die in collateral damage. (I will admit, BAD BLOOD gets bonus points for its lack of pet death). I also liked the nature of this new case; a disappearance lends itself to urgency and more tension during the investigation, which I found to be very compelling.
A very fun read that draws you in right away. My school library did not purchase the first book in Jackson's series, but we have a lot of YA mystery fans so I may consider buying both titles when BAD BLOOD comes out.

OH MY GOSH THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! Holly Jackson has got to be one of the best, if not the best, YA mystery writer out there right now. I've been waiting to read this book since its' release date in America is so much later than it's original publication. This book holds up so well to the first book but is also great on it's own merit. Pip is at her detective work once again trying to help her close friend find his missing brother. I NEVER saw the twist coming and was very pleased with what it ended up being! I did fairly well at guessing who was who once the twist came but this book still had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I read AGGGTM right when quarantine was just beginning. In the months that came after, I recommended it to everyone I could. I absolutely loved it, finding it to be intriguing and not at all the predictable YA murder mystery sort that has become very popular lately (I’ve read and enjoyed plenty of those - this one is just on another level). I’ve seen this second book, Good Girl, Bad Blood, discussed for awhile, and have had it on my to read list for awhile. When I saw it offered on Netgalley and was approved to read it, I was ecstatic. But I was also apprehensive, as I really didn’t want to be disappointed; how could this book live up to the first? Finally, I couldn’t wait anymore. Let me tell you. Don’t wait. Just read it. It’s so good. The writing is fantastic - clear, just detailed enough, focused, and engaging. The pace is rapid, pulling you right along on the hunt. The characters. Ugh! Pip and Ravi are great. Those around them are just as well developed and included in a way that makes sense. The mystery was excellent, as was Pip’s growth. It’s just GOOD. Honestly, the only thing I don’t like is now having to wait for book 3!

Pip’s back with a new season of her now popular podcast A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder in Good Girl Bad Blood.

Pip Fitz-Amobi is officially hanging up her detective hat as she finishes her senior year of high school. Her podcast has gone viral from book one where she solved the murders of Sal Singh and Andi Bell. The only thing left to do now is wrap up the trial of Max Hastings. But when her friend, Connor, shows up on her doorstep saying his brother has gone missing, it’s up to Pip, once again, to do the job the police won’t: find Jamie Reynolds at all costs.

I had high hopes for this YA sequel and was not disappointed. My only issue is that it wasn’t long enough! I loved the premise and how it was very different from the first book, but Pip was still as vigilant and invested as ever. I can’t wait to read the prequel Kill Joy and the third book (yet-to-be-named) in the series. Thank you @netgalley for an ARC. Check this one out April 30!
4.5 stars!

Here we go again.
Pip is now the penultimate investigator, bring her in when the cops don't want to do anything about it. And she even has to tell her kid brother not to be like her and take on investigations when he wants to figure out where the pencil went. And she doesn't want to do it again- she's content with her podcast from the investigation and the resolutions that came from the first mystery even though there is an ongoing trial for icky Max Hastings.
But, when a brother to Connor, Jamie, goes missing on the night of the memorial and thus begins the second mystery that Pip must figure out for herself using her podcast as a vehicle. This one is definitely a bit more of a mindf$ck because there are intricate pieces, some super believable psychology, and some weird and twisted manipulations. This one was like my favorite old forensic mystery series by Alane Ferguson because the focus is as much on Pip as the main character is it is the mysteries she's trying to solve.
A fabulous second book in (what looks like from the end) a planned trilogy.

Amateur detective Pip is back to solve another case in her small town. After the success of her podcast about the investigating the murders of Andie Bell and Sal Singh, Pip returns for unexpected second season. When her best friend's brother Jamie goes missing, Pip starts up the podcast in hopes of finding out what happened. Along the way, she uncovers secrets about her friends and the town that she never expected.
This was quite a thrilling read. There were a lot of twists and turns and red herrings that will really keep readers on the edge of their seat. The podcast format is also a fun way to introduce more information. The greatest downfall of this book is how unlikable Pip becomes and how many illegal things she does in order get information. She blackmails a teacher, bribes a drug dealer, breaks into buildings, vandalizes property, and a lot of other unsavory things that somehow don't get her arrested. It was also frustrating that this book ends on a cliffhanger, leaving room for another installment. Overall, a great mystery for fans of Karen McManus.

Interesting spin on a new series. I definitely liked the tie-ins on this one much better! Highly recommend if you enjoyed the first one. It’s an original spin that enhances the characters.

Typically I don't read mystery novels but this book series is just so good! I honestly thought that the first book would be just be a stand alone novel before, so I was pretty surprised when I saw that there is a sequel! I really enjoyed this, sometimes sequels aren't great but this one was just as good as the first! It was a little slow at first, I found myself just going, "okay yes but I already know this!" at the beginning when everything was kind of showing what happened in the first book, but I understand it is a refresher and it's good to have a refresher in sequels, especially if you can't remember what happened.
Anyways, I really enjoyed this, I found myself trying to figure out the mystery alongside the characters in the book, this was also quite fast paced, which, I think, is good for a crime solving novel. I also found it fun when I could figure things out before the characters did in the book, which is probably intentional but I still enjoyed that bit, and I also enjoyed when things happened that I didn't expect! Overall this is a great sequel and I would love to read the next book in the series whenever it releases.

What an amazing follow-up to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder! I paged through this so quickly and when I had to put it down to do my adulting things like work I still found myself thinking about it. I love how perfectly Holly Jackson puts together a thrilling mystery, dropping enough clues and secrets for us to try to tease it out for ourselves. I can't wait for more in this series!

Wow. This one completely lived up to the thrill of the first one. I feel like this one actually went a bit faster, but it may have been because I was reading it instead of just listening to it. But wow. Twists and turns and red herrings and great characters and just enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages. When does part three come out?

What a story! In the sequel to "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" the main character, Pip, has decided that her detective days are over, after the events in the first book, there was too much angst, publicity, and harm that came from murder investigations. However, it doesn't take long for a close friend to convince Pip to help him find his brother, who is missing, but the police won't investigate because he is an adult and he hasn't been missing for more than 72 hours.
As Pip and Ravi update their podcast with the missing person case, the clues start piling up. At the same time, a certain character from the previous novel, is on trial and Ravi has to testify, which adds another dimension to the plot. The suspense and clues are perfectly set up, including the development of Pip's character, her relationship with her parents, her friends, and Ravi. It's not often that I enjoy a sequel more than the first novel, but this sequel is unputdownable!
Thanks to Random House Children's Publishing, NetGalley, and Holly Jackson for an advanced eBook in exchange for my honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed Holly Jackson's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder & was eager to read the sequel, Good Girl, Bad Blood. Although this book could be a little meta at times, I think overall Holly Jackson knocked this out of the park. This read was sometimes funny & fun, but the real strength in this book was the very real issues this dives into. How the loss of someone never really leaves us. How the actions of murder affect so many people in a myriad of ways (like Cara & her journey through this book). How the justice system fails so many people, especially in rape and sexual assault cases. Thus the strongest theme in this book poses the question - at what point do people take justice into their own hands? Where is the line?
I look forward to Holly Jackson's next installment & I hope she continues to push these thoughts. I was glad to see the inclusion of PTSD at the end, & hope that Jackson treads carefully in how she portrays this (hopefully with ownvoice readers providing input/feedback).
Thank you NetGalley! Review incoming at instagram @bookedwithemma.

The new generation's Nancy Drew. And this girl's got teeth!
This sequel to a Good Girl's Guide to Murder will leave readers anxiously waiting for part three. Keep them coming as far as I am concerned. Jackson develops a gripping mystery, with true character development. There are moments in this one that force readers to think about justice, the justice system, and the patriarchal culture we have all been trapped within. Just for a little added measure Jackson adds some ethical questions to ponder.
Readers will love all the True Crime world references that peppers these books perfectly. Anyone who has podcasts waiting to stream needs to read this book. Five stars all the way.
With this said put the in the hands of true crime, Karen M. McManus, and Stephanie Perkins fans. Publishing world, please, keep books like this coming. Jackson is an automatic order in my opinion.
I was given an early release copy of this title on NetGalley from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Oh Pip and Ravi, you are a great team. This novel begins with a missing person who may or may not truly be missing. When Pippa agrees to help Connor find his missing brother Jamie, she becomes entrenched in a cat and mouse game with a mystery person. There is a slow build in the story, which leads to the crashing end. The sequel is every bit as good as the original. I can’t wait for book 3 in the series. I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my review.

While this did bleak up a bit eventually, the overall Mayberry tone of this town and every single person in it is...off-putting. I didn't hate the story, even when the author dropped an important plot point late in the game which changed what you thought you knew.

What an excellent follow up to the first novel! I definitely will be recommending this series to young adults. So much fun to read.
Thank you Random House and NetGalley for the E-arc copy!

I recently read the first book of this series, and it was a "cannot put it down" type of read. The second installment does not break that mold. I found myself frantically flipping pages to find out the end of the mystery, and the biggest complaint is that it is such a good story that it goes by too fast!
Amateur detective Pip has sworn off anymore sleuthing after solving the biggest murder mystery her town has ever seen. She promises herself and her loved ones that she leave it to the professionals so that she can live a normal life. All that changes when the older brother of one of her best friends goes missing. Her friend's family begs Pip for help, and she embarks on a journey to find the missing Jamie Reynolds. She uses the platform of her highly successful true crime podcast to delve into the mystery that surrounds his disappearance which leads her to new enemies and allies alike.
The only minor criticism I have of the Holly Jackson's writing is some of the language and phrases she uses. This story is set in Connecticut, but Holly herself is British and that is apparent in the writing. Many of the characters use British words or turns of phrases that just aren't natural to Americans. I love all things British and this is definitely a small problem, but it does take the reader out of the story for a few moments every time it happens.
I absolutely loved this book, and eagerly await installment three!

Good Girl, Bad Blood, the sequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, was enjoyable and difficult to put down. I love that Pip is sometimes unlikeable. I love that she is tenacious, and I love the supporting characters. However, I was able to pinpoint who the "bad guy" was way too early in the book, even if I wasn't sure how it was all going to play out. There were a few other things I wish were fleshed out a bit more, but I think those issues may be resolved in the upcoming third installment. Overall, this was quick and fun, and I will absolutely recommend it to my teens who loved The Naturals and other crime novels.

Another thrilling, intricately plotted murder mystery from Holly Jackson! Pip has put on her detective hat once again to help track down her friend’s missing brother. As she digs up more small town secrets, loose threads from the first book are resolved while new plots unravel. The mixed media elements from the first book are still present - interview and podcast transcripts, online articles, text messages, and case notes break up chapters and allow readers to get a further peek into Pip’s process. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time; short chapters with great cliff hangers will propel even the most reluctant reader through this story.
Recommended for fans of true crime podcasts and Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson.

I loved the first book in this series and was very excited for a sequel. The book does a great job of recapping/giving information in creative ways through the use of the inner story podcast and the different mediums throughout, i.e. interviews, recordings, and online threads. This was great when I couldn't exactly remember something from the first book that might be relevant. It was just as thrilling and page turning as the the first book and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of true crime. The additional true crime adjacent storyline towards the end made it even more appealing for fans of the genre.
